hello, I’m asking on behalf of our client that we host and develop his website
we are interested in using your product for the multilingual extension
the question is do you offer a trial before buying the full version ?
Hello,
we don’t offer a free demo/trials I’m afraid but our refund policy allows you to test WPML on your site (or a copy of your site) without any risk: https://wpml.org/purchase/refunds/
Hi, I have a blog in 1 language. I plan to translate it into 5 languages and for each language I want it to be on a different domain. Which version would be most appropriate?
Hi. Is it possible to display posts in different languages without country slugs in URL (eg. example.com/fr/post-name) and with GET parameters instead (eg. example.com/post-name?region=fr)?
Hello Kacper,
in WPML language settings you have only two options: Different languages in directories (https://yoursite.com/ – English, https://yoursite.com/pl/ – Polish) and Language name added as a parameter (https://yoursite.com/?lang=pl – Polish). (plus one more for different domains per language). But if you are interested in regions, you can add a custom language on the Edit language screen and use a regional language code: https://wpml.org/documentation/support/editing-wpmls-languages-table/ For example, if the locale for Canadian French is fr_CA, the corresponding language tag would be fr-ca.
Hello. I am thinking of using WPML for a client, for the first time.
Does this following scenario work with WPML? :
I use one of my licenses for building the client’s website. Remove the license when I deliver the project to the client. If the client hires me or another developer in X-months for maintenance, to re-enable one of my WPML licenses for updating his website and after I’m done remove it again? I don’t know if this is an unorthodox uproach, but I am considering it because the client doesn’t want to have to deal with repaying for licenses (even on discount).
Hello Jake,
You are welcome to use your account to install WPML on your client’s site, but if you remove it from your Registered sites page, they will stop receiving updates. The translated content will remain but they may have issues with the other plugins of their site as well as WordPress itself.
We have a special end user account for this, but your client will have to pay (with a discount).
See here https://wpml.org/purchase/transferring-account-renewals-to-your-clients/
I want to buy cms package, but I have one question regarding annual fee. Do I have to pay annual fee each year for using plugin or annual fee is only for additional access to other stuff.
Hi. Is it possible to change the name of GET parameter in URL? ‘d like to replace ?lang=XX with ?region=XX and I need to know whether that’s possible or not before I make a purchase.
Hello Melanie, when you are buying WPML, you need to fill out the form on the checkout page and the data you are entering there will appear on your invoice. I’m not sure if I understand your concerns…
However I still need to know if it’s possible to change the name of GET parameter in URL from ?lang=XX to ?region=XX. I want it to work exactly the same as with languages, just the name in URL (I don’t mean the language codes) has to be different. So, is it possible? If the answer is yes, I’d like to buy the plugin as soon as possible 🙂
Good afternoon, I have an Agency Licence that is expiring and would like to renew with Multilingual CMS license only as in the future I will use WPML on one site. How to I do this?
Hello Guillaume,
I am afraid we don’t have downgrade options.
You need to cancel the subscription on your Agency account and you will then be able to buy a new CMS subscription, for the full amount.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Hi,
Presale question: is the first name filed (also last name & email) validated with any payment processor filed taken from the credit card? We try to establish account data for some person and complete payment by card data of another one. Is it an available option or is it some bug now? Thanks for advice.
Hello, I would like to ask a question. I want to purchase your guys’ program, but let’s say i purchase the program, and i don’t pay the yearly fee, but after say 3-4 years, I do want an update, and i then pay the $70 renewal fee, do i then get the latest updates for that year? or do i need to keep paying it every year from purchase date to be able to update it.
Hello,
you can buy WPML and cancel your subscription so that we won’t charge you automatically after the first year but if you decide to renew your subscription after a few-year break you won’t pay the renewal fee but the initial price again.

Your previous question was awaiting moderation. If you cancel your WPML subscription you can get the latest update on the last day for the year you paid for (meaning the first year). Later on, you can still use WPML plugins but without updates.
No we they not charged yet. We cannot confirm data in credit card forms. After setup all details and after send submit/confirm button, all data was cleared with all fields & we have got validation error: https://imgur.com/a/N2XtQoj
Is it necessary to breake pending status to establish new again, during purchase? Mayby it’s bloked or sth?
Hello,
you need to start over again. Either there was an error processing it, or the window was closed or something like that.
In any case, please start the process all over again, since we did not charge you yet.
Hello Onur,
I have replied to your mail about this.
You will not be able to register any new sites if your subscription is not active.
Check here https://wpml.org/home/terms-and-conditions/
Hi Cesar – Anyone can use the API, but only with the features included in your account type. You can compare the different account types here, and view our Hooks Reference here.
Hello – if you have an account, you can log in and chat with a supporter here: https://wpml.org/forums/forum/english-support/ Please note, you must have a valid WPML account to access support. If you have not yet purchased WPML, please let us know your questions in this forum.
Hello
the 39 dollars license:
1- Is the price annual?
2- This plan says that it does not have automatic translation, so how do I use my API?
3- It says I can register 1 site, the question is, can I deactivate the license, to use it again on another website?
4- Is there a comparison test with the translation of others like Deepl?
5- Using the API of this plan, how many API calls can I make in a day?
6- In an API call, is there a limit to the number of words to translate, in one API call?
Sorry for so many questions, I want to be sure before buying. Thank you.
Hello,
thank you for your interest in WPML.
1. $39 is the price for the first year. If you decided to continue next year (which is optional), you paid $29 next year.
2. You cannot use your API. We are already integrated with these three translation engines: Google Translate, Deepl, Microsoft Azure. But yes, only the CMS-package users can benefit from automatic translations.
3. Yes, you can. You can register and unregister your sites as many times as you wish.
4. No, there is no such comparison. But you can put your text into their online tools (https://translate.google.com/ and https://www.deepl.com/translator) and compare the results. You will get almost the same output when using WPML because we use their API. Please note that the longer text you provide, the better quality of translation you get because context is important.
5. There is no limit but the way you ask your question makes me think that you are trying to compare WPML with something that works a bit differently so let me shortly explain how WPML works. When you translate content in WPML, your translations are saved in your WordPress database (plus in the so-called translation memory). This means, that you translate once, and then it doesn’t matter how many times a specific page is visited. It will use the same translation. The translation will change (a new call to the translation engine will be sent) only if you change the original content and you need to translate this page again. I hope it helps.
6. Yes, we have some limits. First of all, you need to have enough translation credits on your account. Second, to use large amounts of credits you need to manually change the limit. Everything is described here: https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/automatic-translation-pricing/
Hello Manos, you can ask your questions here. This way others will benefit from your comments when looking for similar anwers. If for some reasons, you want to keep your questions private, please reply to my email I’m sending now.
Hello, in your second comment you say you managed to fix it, so I think your problem is solved. But if you have any other questions, please let me know or open a ticket on our support forum. Thank you.

Hi, I have a blog in 1 language. I plan to translate it into 5 languages and for each language I want it to be on a different domain. Which version would be most appropriate?
You need the CMS package in this case but to set up different domains you need to do some extra work on your server: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/language-url-options/how-to-use-wpml-with-different-domains-per-language/
Thanks!

Hi I want a offer, for lifetime subscription
Hello Chris,
We no longer sell new lifetime subscriptions.
Thanks for your interest.
I want to buy cms package, but I have one question regarding annual fee. Do I have to pay annual fee each year for using plugin or annual fee is only for additional access to other stuff.
Hello Stefanovski,
The renewal fee is required to keep updates and support.

Where do I get invoices if I don’t know who is our account owner or which address has been used for our account?

Hi Agnes, thanks for your replies.

Hi Kacper, no, it’s not possible to change it in WPML settings. Custom coding would be required which is our of the scope of our support.

your order is still pending. What can you see on your PayPal/Card? Have we charged you already?

Hi WPML,
I want different pages not only per language but per country and language like for example
mypage.com/ie-en/
mypage.com/uk-en/
mypage.com/de-de/
mypage.com/at-de/
Can I manage this with your plugin?
Many thanks
Dany
Hi Dany,
WPML is not a country-based plugin, but language-based.
However you can do this by adding them as custom languages. See here https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/#id1

In the basic license, do I have the right to use an API?

Hi Cesar – Anyone can use the API, but only with the features included in your account type. You can compare the different account types here, and view our Hooks Reference here.
Hi, How can I direct contact or chat with a technical supporter?

Hello, do your plugin is compatible with Buddyboss Theme and plugins ?
Thanks in advance
Hello,
Buddyboss Theme and plugins are not on our lists of plugins and themes compatible with WPML so you might have issues with some translations and translating some elements coming from these plugins/themes. I can see that some of our users use these plugins/themes but then they might need some help, please check this thread for example https://wpml.org/forums/topic/compatibility-issues-with-buddyboss/
