Dear team!
I have a website, consisting of sites in two languages, German (default) and English. If I change the content on a German site, for example I add a new block with text in it, will the same new content appear in the according English site as well and is it translated automatically as well?
Or do I have to add the block in this case in the English site manually and let the plugin translate it automatically?
Thank you in advance!
Hello Xenia,
in this case: German (default) and English, if you update the German page after this page was already translated, yes, your German updates will be reflected in English (this will happen fully automatically if you use the Translate Everything mode. If you use “Let me choose what to translate” mode, you will need to click on the English translation to update the translation. You don’t need to bother about the layout of your page. You don’t need to add the same blocks to English. WPML knows that you need to use the same layout across your translations and will only show you the strings/texts to translate in the WPML editor.
Hello, the Blog package don’t allow you to translate header and footer. In most of the cases to translate text from header and footer you need the WPML String Translation plugin which is available only in the CMS (or Agency) packages.
Hi there. We will need to renew our WPML licence in this month. So far, this has been handled by an external provider that charged us this as part of their development services. But now we have this in-house so we need to take control of the payment process. I’m trying to make the payment process but a) I only see Paypal as payment method and b) I need to create the account and hand it over to our billing team so they can process the payment. It would be possible for a sales representative to get in touch with us? Thanks in advance!
Hi! I wonder if WPML always requiere access to backend?
I am searching for a good tool to translate my webpage, and I liked WPML but I saw that the competitor TranslatePress has a useful feature – It doesn’t require you to use just the backend of the website to work with the translations. This plugin gives a real-time look at the translations that you provide, working almost like a page-builder to make sure that your site looks and feels the same to everyone, regardless of the language they see on your site.
So I am asking if WPML has the same feature? thank you!
Hi,
we have a client looking at making a multi language website.
your plugin looks perfect but we have a question.
how would your plugin handle links to downloadable pdfs of translated pages?
we need the links on the Spanish page to link to Spanish pdfs, and the English ones to link to the English pdfs.
and we would be using Elementor Page Builder.
we cant tell from your documnentation whether this is possible, and if its possible with Elementor.
please could you let us know
thanks so much,
Vauneen
Hello,
if your pdf link is just part of your content (for example a block of text), yes, you can translate the link along with the accompanying content which means to translate the text and then replace the link use to point to the translated version of the pdf. Everything you translate automatically is editable.
I am trying to find out if WPML can be purchased through the codecayon or some third-party WordPress plugin site? My company has a verified vendors list.
Hello, we are the only seller of WPML and wpml.org is the site to buy WPML. Can you please share the links to the other sites? I think what they do is illegal but we will check this.
Hello Alper,
That’s not possible directly with WPML options, I guess you will need some custom code in order to achieve that.
X-default tag is added directly to the default language.
Regards
I am trying to log in to the WPML website, but have lost my password. I try to do a reset password but am straight sent to an empty page with the message: “Captcha verification failed” tried on firefox and chrome. please help me reset my password
Hello, by default no prefix is added to your primary language but if you want, you can enable te option to add the prefix to your primary language too. Both options are possible with WPML.
Hi, I was wondering how many languages can be translated with the basic plan and how can they be connected to their own domains (ex: .en, .me, .rs etc.)
Thank you for the quick answer. My question was more relating to how many languages can the website be translated to with this plan. Because I want my website to be available in up to 6 languages and was wondering if that is possible with the basic plan, or is there a limitation to 3?
Hello wolfie,
We don’t have a restriction on the number of languages, but on the number of sites where you can install and register WPML.
You can set up as many languages as you want.
I have a site in development. I realized that my WPML (translations in Spanish) have been removed. If I purchase again, can the translation be reinstated? I don’t use “automatic translations” or credits. I manually translate everything. I want to know if my own translations that were on the site will be restored.
Hello Eric,
If you have only uninstalled WPML plugin, once you install it again, your translations should be restored. However, if you not only uninstalled WPML but also reset it, I’m afraid your translations can’t be restored.
I hope it helps.
I don’t believe I uninstalled it, it’s really strange. I do see the Spanish language pages but the “flag” to switch languages is gone and yes there are “error” messages at the top stating:
WPML All Import requires WP All Import Pro or Free and WPML Multilingual CMS.
WPML Media is enabled but not effective. It requires WPML in order to work.
ACFML is enabled but not effective. It requires WPML in order to work.
Should I just re-install it? I’d have no reason to uninstall it.
Hey Eric,
According to those messages, yes, WPML is not installed or deactivated. Please go to your Dashboard > Plugins and activate it, or if you don’t see it there, reinstall it.
Regards
Hello I am thinking of buying this plugin, however, it is important for me to have the following features. Could you please confirm?
1. Automatically switch language (inlcuding currencies etc) based on geolocation
2. Possibility to “translate” the link for external/affiliate products, so that I can target various amazon domains (eg. .com .de etc). This is even more important
2. Possibility to “translate” the link for external/affiliate products, so that I can target various amazon domains (eg. .com .de etc). This is even more important
To answer this part I would need to have more information how these link appear on your site. Do you use a plugin for this? Are these link part of your product description?
Does WPML allow to manage translations of plugins installed across multiple domains from 1 central location so that every time I need to update the translation for a plugin installed on 20 domains, I don’t have to go to each one and update the translation manually?

Dear WPML Support,
I am writing to you today to complain about the fact that my WPML Unlimited account has expired. I purchased this account on [date] and it was supposed to expire on. However, I am now seeing the message “Your account is expired” when I try to log in to my WPML account.
I am very disappointed that my account has expired, as I rely on WPML to translate my website into multiple languages. I have a large and growing audience, and I need to be able to reach them in their native languages.
I have attached a copy of my receipt for the WPML Unlimited account. I have also included my contact information below.
I would appreciate it if you could look into this matter and help me to get my account reactivated. I am available to speak with you at your earliest convenience.
Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.
Hello,
I have checked your WPML account, the one attached to the email address you posted this comment with and indeed it expired 2 years ago. To reactivate your account, please log into your WPML account and buy the CMS package again. When you log in, you should see a link to do so. If you cannot see the link, simply go to the purchase page (when being logged in) and click on the Buy now button for the Multilingual CMS. Please keep your automatic renewals turned on so that you won’t to forget to renew your account. We sent two email reminders before your WPML expires but maybe you missed these emails or they went to your spam. I can see in your order history that your renewal order had failed on October 20, 2021. Sometimes accounts expire because the card expired or there weren’t funds on your card. Please make sure your card is valid and you have enough funds on it. If you have additional questions, don’t hesitate to ask.

Hello Evgenia,

Hello Vauneen,
Depending on how you are adding your PDF’s you can consider 2 alternatives:
Either translate the PDF with WPML Media Translation:
https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/media-translation/
or adding different files and translating the link:
https://wpml.org/announcements/2020/02/translating-links-with-advanced-translation-editor/

Hello,
we will contact you directly via email about this matter.
My colleague Mercedes says it’s been handled already.
If I make the “/en” subfolder as “default”. Does “/en” have to be deleted?

Is Multilingual SEO available on the basic $39 Multilingual Blog plan? Or is it only available on the higher plans?

yes, the WPML SEO plugin that provide WPML compatibility with the popular SEO plugin is also available in the Blog plan.

Hello,
1. Do you mean currencies for your WooCommerce products? Yes, WPML and it’s WooCommerce Multilingual add-on provide the feature to switch currencies based on geolocation – please read more about it here: https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/woocommerce-multilingual/multi-currency-support-woocommerce/#currencies-per-location

Hello Martin,
do you need a separate domain per language? If so, WPML can help here but a specific setup is required to achieve this. Please check this page for details: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/language-url-options/how-to-use-wpml-with-different-domains-per-language/

We have a larger woocommerce website where we use our own permalinks structure.
For example:
domain.com/sample-product/
domain.com/product-category/
domain.com/product-category/product-sub-category/
We use the Premmerce plugin, but it is not compatible with your plugin.
Still other plugins exist to handle permalinks. Which one is 100% compatible with your plugin so we can start using it?
