Hello,
We have some 160 pages/posts. I would like to translate them in a short time and go live by merging from our staging-site. I know there is a 100 € limit on credits, which I’m trying to understand how quickly we can pay and continue translating?
I want to complete all translations within 1 week and if there is a limit of 100 € and I have to wait 2 weeks beofre we can continue, it would suck.
What would you recommend in our situation? Buying pre-paid credits is an option I suppose but that will be much more expensive, as I’ve understood.
Also, I’m using Divi and I’m not sure how to find out what all the translations will actually cost. It seems that it might use more than my own calculations? Any advice there?
Hello Sebastian,
I can see you are a client of us and I encourage you to visit our support forum and have a live chat or file a support ticket to answer all of your questions and understand how the credits work to avoid confusion. The 100€ limit stops the automatic translations awaiting for the user’s manual confirmation to proceed further. You can do it immediately. You don’t need to wait 2 weeks, I’m not sure why you think you would need to wait for two weeks. That’s why using our support forum will speed up this conversation (especially the live chat will be helpful in your case).
I am looking for a solution to my project and I want you to clarify me if your plugin should cover about my needs.
1. First I need a multisite. I need to upload posts from the main site. The subdirectories sites will be the languages translations of the posts from the main site and should be appeared as in the theme in the main site.
2. The translations should be modified manually from the back end of each multisite, but initially will be produced automated by your plugin
In fact I want to customize theme in each multisite but I need the same content translated included media like photos, videos.
Are there possible?
Hello,
WPML allows you to translate automatically and then manually modify the translations but you cannot use WPML for the setup you need. WPML works with WordPress Multisite but cannot be used to make each subsite represents a different language. Please check the valid configuration options for WPML and WP Multisite. If you need a plugin for a WordPress Multisite that each subsite represents a different language, please check this plugin.
Bonjour,
Hello,
We’re using the wpml plugin on our website.
However there appears to be some bug or plugin conflict issue, which causes translated-from pages to fail to load elements properly, and shows the following error message in the browser:
Warning: Undefined property: WP_Error::$term_id in /customers/8/0/0/nordicurban.com/httpd.www/wp-includes/class-wp-list-util.php on line 168 Warning: Undefined property: WP_Error::$term_id in /customers/8/0/0/nordicurban.com/httpd.www/wp-includes/class-wp-list-util.php on line 168
Can you help me identify the username or email address associated with our WPML account, so we can log in and avail of wpml technical support?
Hello,
the website you provided when posting this comment was registered in 2021 by a user from Denmark whose name is Thomas. I cannot share this person’s email address. Please note that you can buy WPML for youself and change the license key to your own without the need of reinstalling WPML plugins.
Hello Alice,
no, we no longer provide lifetime deals but you can buy the CMS or Agency account and cancel your subscription at any time. Renewals are not mandatory.
When you add a custom language you can provide the code of your choice but please note that the structure of your URL is the following:
youdomain.com/language_code/page_slug
Please use this sandbox site to see how this work.
Go to WPML > Languages > Click Edit languages. I have added Spanish for Chile as an example. Here are the language codes: https://wpastra.com/docs/complete-list-wordpress-locale-codes/
Hello, i get license for 3 sites a couple years ago, i want to add a new site to get anew site key and it says i need to purchase again, i was under the impression that I only need to renew if i wanted support, can you clarify on this.
Hi there is it possible to remove the URL of the website I provided in my query? I want to start anonymous and did not know it would be published. Can you please remove the URLS, or if not, please remove my whole comment but just reply the answer to me via the email I provided.
Hi Team,
We have a completely custom website theme which uses Classic Editor for pages & posts. With many posts being dynamically created based upon content.
We also utilise Yoast SEO, Gravity Forms, ACF Pro & use WP SMTP Mail.
I wanted to make sure that the WPML plugin is still compatible with classic editor.
OR
If we can just provide the list of languages, and the translations are stored after the user visits the page as per this video? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5Qhmhp31jk
Also, is there an expiry on the credits provided from the initial purchase?
Plus, if choosing to automatically translate, is there a warning message sent to top up credits or can this be automatically charged to a credit card?
Can you also confirm if the original English version of the website retains it original URL, or will it be amended like all other languages translation pages & posts?
Does the sitemap created by Yoast update to provide new URLs for default and new URLs generated by the language translation?
Hello Paul,
yes, WPML works with the classic WordPress editor.
You can translate manually or automatically with WPML. When you translate automatically with WPML, the content of your page will be opened in the WPML translation editor. If you would like to open your translation in the the classic WordPress editor, you can do so as well but please note that if decide to use this WordPress editor for your translations, you won’t be able to use automatic translations. Please read more about this here: https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/using-different-translation-editors-for-different-pages/
No, the pre-paid (including the free credits we provide when you buy WPML) credits don’t expire. You are charged automatically only if you sign up for pay as you go, please check this page: https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/automatic-translation-pricing/
If you would like to control which pages you translated automatically, please use the Translate What You Choose (check the screenshot from this page: https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/#translating-your-whole-site-automatically) instead of Translate Everything Automatically. You will be able to control the credits in the WPML > Translation Management >Tools tab.
WPML doesn’t change the URLs of your original content. Yes, the Yoast sitemap will included the URLs generated by the language translation. Please note that you can update these slugs if you want. To do so, you would need to go to WPML settings and select the “Translate (this will include the slug in the translation and not create it automatically from the title)” in the Page URL section.
Hi, we need to localise/translate our knowledge base from English Australian (en-AU) to English American (en-US).
1. Is WPML able to do this?
2. Can the auto-translate function do this?
Hello,
1)
you can set up your WordPress/WPML site to use different kinds of English languages if you add these languages as so-called custom languages – pease check this page for deatils: cumentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/editing-wpmls-languages-table/
2) no, currently we don’t support automatic translation between English languages.
You can set up your site to use manual translation: https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/using-different-translation-editors-for-different-pages/
and/or you can also use the so-called “Duplicate” option and then – per page – use the “translate independently” to make edits to your translations.
We had your plugin a few years ago. Now we are trying to purchase the blog plugin for another client but it is not taking me through the purchase process. It is acting like we already purchased it and allows us to download and install it. But we can’t move forward without the key. How do I pay?
Hello Keith,
You have a lifetime subscription, which allows you to register unlimited sites for life. You don’t need to pay for another subscription. Please check this article to register the new site and generate the subscription key https://wpml.org/faq/install-wpml/#register
I recently opened an account and now wish to utilize the pay as you go feature. This website does not offer me a way to do that; instead, it routes me to outdated instructions which do not match what I am viewing on my screen.
This organization does not appear to provide any support. Any advice?
Hello,
basically you can use WPML on 3 websites if you buy the Multilingual CMS package. You can also use WPML on 9 additional websites but all the other websites would need to be registered as development websites (instead “production”). The websites registered as development will have a banner added to you footer saying that this is a development website. We allow our clients to register additional development websites because some users maintain separate copies of their production sites.
Hello,
thank you for your interest in WPML. You won’t benefit from your DeepL subscription when using WPML because WPML integrates with DeepL in a slightly different way than you would expect. You don’t have to have a DeepL subscription at all, WPML will use DeepL out of the box. To translate automatically using DeepL you need the so-called translation credits (1 word = 2 credits) and you will receive 90 000 credits for free when buying WPML. If you need more credits, here are your options: https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/automatic-translation-pricing/
Hello,
WPML supports both options, please check the details here: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/#language-url-format
The vast majority of our clients use the Different languages in directories option instead of “Language name added as a parameter”. When you select your languages WPML will add these directories automatically to your URLs.
Can i change the symbol value? Like From Kr. to DKK? In our case, we want to show both Swedish and Danish kr, and then it will be difficult to separate SEK and DKK if both are written “Kr” behind the product’s price.
Hello,
We have shifted our website hosting and mapped the domain with new IP in DNS.
We are getting error of re-registering our website on this domain
We are unable to find the email with which we had purchased the license for WPML for this site, but it is still active on our old code.
Is there a way to determine the key from registered website or can you help with the email which was used to buy license which is currently active for this website ?
Hello,
yes, when you change the URL of your website you need to generate a new key and re-register your website. You can ask your developer to do so or you can buy WPML for yourself and generate the key with your WPML account – both work the same. I will send you the email address of the person who registered your website and you can ask them for help or considering buying WPML for you – you need the 99 euro package.
Hello, it’s a subscription which you can cancel at any time and still use WPML but after the first year you will lose access to updates and our support forum if you cancel. Renewals are optional and they cost 75% of the initial price.
Hello, can I use custom languages with the basic version? I want to translate my site manually into Scots Language and Scottish Gaelic and have speakers of both those languages ready to do it by hand. There are many features of the CMS and Agency tiers that we just won’t need.
Hello Aaron,
Sure, you can create custom languages with the Multilingual Blog package. However, keep in mind that you may need WPML String Translation (which is part of the CMS and agency license) in case you can to translate theme options, custom fields and other WordPress functionalities.

Hello Oula,
We can’t tell you how much time exactly it would take, it would depend of the content of your products and the server traffic. However, it should take a few hours.

Hi
We have a need for a multiple country, multiple language site.
We want to serve content in Canada. In French and English. But we need a /ca/ url.
For example fetlr.com/ca/fr. AND fetlr.com/ca/en
Is this something WMPL can help with?
Hello,
yes, you can use the so-called custom languages to set up languages with the URL language codes of your choice. This page will help you: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/editing-wpmls-languages-table/
Ok and so in this example the use /en-mx/ is it possible to have /mx/en instead?
When you add a custom language you can provide the code of your choice but please note that the structure of your URL is the following:

Hello Detlef,
I am not sure of what you mean exactly, but the frontend will stay accesible for your visitors while you translate with WPML.
Once the translations are finished you can decide when to publish them.
https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/#setting-the-publishing-status-for-translations
Is this what you mean?
Thank you Alice,
I’ll discuss this with the other developer.

Hello, i wish to buy wpml CMS,
I wish to ask few doubts
whether there is any official conf from WPML to move the language parameter to be part of url instead of query string?
like
http://localhost/sample-page?lang=zh-hans
the above url will become

Any possible options available?
