    Our wordpress website has been highly customized by developers and we really want to offer a paralel multilingual site.

    Is there a way to test this plugin to see if it’s compatible with out website.

  3. In addition to these, there is the discontinued Lifetime account. It doesn’t require a yearly subscription and can be used on an unlimited number of sites.

  4. Hello
    I am looking for a plugin that will allow me to switch between two languages, however, I don’t need translation. I would provide the translated 2nd language. First language English, and second would be Spanish which I would provide.
    Can your plugin accommodate that?

    • Hello Jake,
      Thank you for your interest in WPML. When you say “I don’t need translation.” do you mean that you don’t need automatic translation because you will translate manually (e.g by copy-pasting from your sources/documents)? If so, yes, WPML allows you to translate manually too.
      You have two options:
      1. Purchase the Multilingual Blog package. This is good for simple sites, sites that don’t use page builders and don’t use too many plugins that would need to be translated as well.
      2. Purchase the Multilingual CMS package and disable automatic translation in the WPML translation editor (a blue button that reads “Undo” – I think you will easily recognize it when working with the editor for the first time).

      Our system doesn’t allow downgrades.
      Here are your options:
      1. You can switch to manual renewals, wait until your subscription expires (September 10, 2025) and then purchase the Multilingual CMS package.
      2. Request a refund and purchase again after your refund is issued (can take about 2 days), the Multilingual CMS package this time. If you want to request the refund please select “I made a mistake while buying” > “I need to cancel this order and buy again with correct details”

      I have checked the history of your WPML account and I can see that your subscription has expired on April 17, 2024. This means that you need to buy again for the full price. So the cost is 99 euro (plus VAT if applicable in your case). If you want to use the same WPML account (with the same email address), please log into your account first and then go to the purchase page.

  8. Hello! My name is Alena, I’m BA in a software company. We create a website redesign for USA college. The client wants to have multilingual website with EN/ES and maybe other languages. Autonalic translation required. The website is build on WP using custom ACF. We have the following questions for clarification:
    1. The credit limit for a package is 90 000. In case of limit increasing – what additional cost should we pay? And what are the contsant yearly costs (99Euro+75Euro?)
    2. How easy is it to translate the content with the ACF blocks? Is there any bottlenecks that we need to consider in advance?
    3. Can you give us the video explanation for a client – how the menu items, header, footer elements will be translated.

      Thank you for your interest in WPML.
      1. If you run out of the free translation credits, you can buy extra credits or sign up for Pay-as-you-go. Both options are explained in detail here: https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/automatic-translation-pricing/
      The Pay-as-you-go option is cheaper and you can use this calculator to estimate how much you will pay given the number of words you want to translate.
      For now, yearly renewals are 75 euros per year for the Multilingual CMS package. We might want to change this in the near future. Any changes in the pricing will apply only to new clients. Which means, if you buy today, yes, your yearly renewals will be 75 euros.
      2. WPML works with ACF but for ACF-based sites, you need to do some extra setup before you start translating, as covered in our documentation: https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/translate-sites-built-with-acf/#choosing-how-to-translate-field-groups
      If you want to keep the same ACF fields across languages (which means you plan to use the same layouts for languages), the setup should be easy: all you need to do is to select “Same fields across languages ” for each of your ACF field groups. Otherwise, you might want to spend some time to understand your translation option (this applies to sites with the Repeater or Layouts types of fields – when you plan to display different content per language). If you plan to use automatic translation, the “Same fields across languages” option is recommended.
      3. We don’t have any videos on that topic, I’m sorry. Often, web developers (who create website for their clients) handle the footer and header translation when setting up WPML site because it’s done once and footers don’t change that often.     I sent my customer a link in February 2024 that allows him to take advantage of WPLM’s offer at a lower price, as I created the website for him and installed the plugin there. However, the link now leads to your standard table. Does this offer no longer exist or has the link expired? How can I generate a new link for my customer?

    site1.com/fr/: French for Canada
    site2.com: Spanish for Spain
    site3.com: Italian for Italy
    Does your plugin support this type of multilingual structure, where one website has two languages, and others have only one language each?

  13. I created a new website, very simple, just a handful pages, on the new WordPress with the Twenty Twenty-Four theme. I don’t see WPML listing this theme on your website. Is WPML compatible with the new Gutenberg editor?

  14. Quick question before I buy:

    1. Can I translate a page WITHOUT duplicating it?
    I tried others (ie. Polylang) and what it does is that it adds a flag for each language on the “Pages” table rows. When I click on the flag, it creates a new page with that language. But I have to redo the page in another language! Duplication basically.

    What I want is, a tab or something for me to edit the language WITHIN the “Page” details. Or something easy where I can add the translation RIGHT THERE.

    PS. You guys REALLY need a demo or something! I’m getting frustrated because I cannot install this plugin on the “Plugins” inside WP. There are not enough screenshots on your site to show how to translate a post / page, etc.

      WPML also create a new page when you translate but it translates your content automatically. You can make edits to your translations.

  15. Hello,
    We would like to have 2 languages translated from english on our site. I have 3 questions:
    1. Will the structure of the translated language URLs look like this?
    behively.org (for english version)
    behively.org/sp (spanish version)
    behively.org/fr (french version)

    2. Can you edit the translated content? Will we actually be able to go in and change the translated content from the auto translated version?
    3. If you translate more than one language does the price change?

      Thank you for your interest in WPML.
      1. Yes, the structure will look like something this but by default WPML uses the es code for Spanish (that’s the standard), so it will be:
      behively.org (for English version)
      behively.org/es (Spanish version)
      behively.org/fr (French version)
      2. Yes, you can. You can make any edits you want. You can even disable automatic translation on some of your page and translate manually.
      3. Translating to more language will cost more because you will need to use more translation credits and the default number of credits you will receive (90 000) might not suffice. Please use this calculator to check how much additional credits you might need and how much it would cost.

  16. Hello
    A few months ago, I bought your license but ended up getting a refund because your plugin wasn’t syncing learndash courses when switching languages. This was the request https://wpml.org/forums/topic/learn-dash-courses-progress-and-wpml/ and I spoke to one of your support agents and they agreed it was necessary. I can share screenshot but I don’t see the button to add attachments here.
    Do you have any updates on this? is it possible to sync progress and enrolments on learndash?

      I checked your support history and I found your thread about synchronising the progress and enrolments on LearnDash. Let me check with our developers if we managed to moved this forward. Cross-plugin compatibility depends on the cooperation with the plugin authors and such changes require more time. I will keep you posted.

  17. Hello,

    How exactly pay as you go works? Do I still need an annual license?

    I currently subscribe to Multilingual CMS, and have three production websites. Pay as you go refers only to the translation credits? With pay as you go do I still need to upgrade to the Agency level to add new production websites?

    • Hello,
      You don’t need to have an active WPML account to use PAYG (Pay as You Go). You you sign up for PAYG from within your WordPress site with any email address (doesn’t have to be the WPML-account email) and with any card. WPML yearly renewals are optional and WPML plugins (and PAYG) will continue working even if you cancel your WPML subscription. Yes, PAYG is needed for translation credits. You can use WPML without credits as well but in this case, you need to translate manually.

  18. Our subscription has expired. We were paying $59 per year. I see your plans have changed. The writers are not adding content to the site. But we want to keep it active until they have time to blog again. The point system looks best for us. Does it work with Elementor sites? Does it bill monthly – or yearly?

      Your WPML subscription is still active (at least the one that belongs to the same email address you use to post this comment). Your next payment date is December 26, 2024 – you have automatic renewals for $59.00. Yes, WPML works with Elementor sites. The renewals are billed yearly. If you would like to buy WPML with a different email, you will pay 99 euros.

    • Hello Inês,
      I’m not sure what you mean by including “Site indexing of different translation” but let me share some information that can help.
      WPML (including the Multilingual Blog plan option) creates a new WordPress post/page when you translate your pages (just in a different language). All these translated pages will be available for Google indexing immediately because WPML add special language tags (hreflang meta info – if you want to see some examples, please check the HTML source of this site: view-source:https://wpml.org/ and locate hreflang occurances). If your site includes the languages switcher (that’s the thing with flags and language names – WPML adds it automatically to the site footer but you can also add it to your menu/header in WPML Language settings), it will also help Google bots to index your multilingual pages. So actually even if your site doesn’t have any special sitemap, it will be indexed by Google (and other search engines). If your site uses the Yoast SEO plugin that generates the sitemap, yes, you can get that sitemap “translated” too, because the Blog version also includes the WPML SEO add-on.
      Yes, WPML provides the Automatic User Language Detection feature but we don’t recommend using it because automatic redirections can cause some issues for users. The most important thing is to have your pages translated with the correct hreflang tags and including the language switcher will also help. All these features are available in the Blog package.

    • Hello Martin,
      thank you for your interest in WPML. Unfortunately, we don’t provide any script that could automatically migrate your existing translations to your WPML site. You can manually copy paste your existing translations into the WPML translation editor but this would take a lot of time I guess. WPML also allows you to disable the translation editor for some of your pages and use the WordPress editor for your translations. You could consider doing so for your blog artciles, copy-pasting would be easier for such cases. The workflow to follow is described here. To sum up, it’s best to retranslate your content using automatic translation but if you have long blog posts you can consider switching of the translation editor for some of them, and copy paste your existing translations into your WordPress editor.

  24. Hello, I have a few questions:
    1. Is the WPML plugin compatible with the DIVI platform?

    2. Is the WPML plugin compatible with WooCommerce? If yes, I have a catalog that differs in some products depending on the country where it is displayed, while others are sold in multiple countries. Is it possible to have some of the products in one language and some of the others in another language?

    3. is the WPML plugin compatible with Yoast, i.e. can I provide different keys or strings language by language?

      Thank you for your interest in WPML.
      1. Yes WPML is compatible with DIVI.
      2. Yes, WPML is compatible with WooCommerce. Yes, it is possible to have some of the products in one language and some of the others in another language. If you would like to add a product in a specific language without its original-language equivalent, please go to your admin, use the language switcher from the admin bar and switch to that language. Then add the product the same way you would add it in your site’s default language.
      3. Yes, WPML is compatible with Yoast. You can provide different keys or strings language by language. The WPML SEO addon in needed in that case, which is available in the Multilingual CMS (or Agency) package. After installing the main WPML plugin, go to Plugins > Add new plugin > Commercial tab you and you will see the WPML SEO plugin there.
