Hi,
I understand that your auto-translate feature uses ChatGPT in the background. Can you confirm if you have a “non-sharing” agreement in place with ChatGPT which prevents content uploaded to your (and their) tool from being used in training the AI? I believe OpenAI refer to it as an “Enterprise Data License”.
Hello,
WPML is not using ChatGPT in the background. We offer a translation engine called “WPML AI” (as one of the options) which is our own product that uses a mix of different translation AI technologies and our own resources to provide the best end results to our clients.
Thanks for the response. If that’s the case, the content on this page of your site is a little unclear: https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/ .
It says “Automatically translate your WordPress website with WPML AI, our AI translation engine powered by ChatGPT and our own WordPress-optimized algorithms.”
If ChatGPT is being used by WPML AI, do you have an agreement in place like I previously mentioned? Or is it required to use our own ChatGPT account/license with WPML AI?
Thank you for the link to our marketing page. I have consulted this with our content team. It turns out that indeed OpenAI techology is also involved. On that page we say ChatGPT because it’s easier to explain to some of our clients that saying OpenAI API. Actually, we use APIs of different translation engines and when we ask any API to translate some content, we have to send the content of your site (the pages you selected to translate automatically) to those tools. Do you ask if we have an option that allows you to say “Do not use my data to train your system” or if we use such an option by default when sending the translation requests to those AI tools? This is something I don’t know and I need to check with our technical team. I will check and get back to you about this aspect. To sum up, the WPML AI option represents a mix of LLMs. Each LLM has advantages in translating different languages and that for each language pair, we use the LLM which has the best results for that language, based on our testing. Yes we do use the OpenAI technology but not exclusively.
Hello,
I have checked with our developers and they explained that we are use ChatGPT and other models from Microsoft Azure and AWS clouds. There is no training on the data in those clouds, and explained that it is like we have our databases there where nobody scoops in our data. As backup we also have OpenAI and other native APIs where they can see our data but they agreed to not use the data for any training and also delete it in 30 days. I hope this helps.
Hello I am a researcher at a university. I have a wordpress website (sova.pitt.edu) to which I would want to add a section that is making articles available in both Spanish and English. I am having difficulty deciphering the pricing models and would appreciate some help in an estimate. I cannot start this project now but need to prepare a budget for a grant proposal. If someone would reach out that would be appreciated. thank you.
Hi,
I just purchased a one-year subscription, but I still haven’t received the email with my login details. I also tried the password reset option and got confirmation that emails were sent to two email addresses, but I still haven’t received any email. I’ve checked all my spam and junk folders, but I can’t see it anywhere.
Hello,
I can see your email in our system and technically everything is correct. There seem to be issues with our emails not reaching you. If that’s the case, we can change the password for you manually and send it to a different email. Please use the contact form and send us such a request providing both emails: the one you purchased WPML with and the new one. https://wpml.org/home/contact-us/contact-form/
Hello,
yes, WPML allows you to translate and the output the meta title, meta description and URL names for each language individually. I assume that you use an SEO plugin to set up meta title, meta descriptions such as Yoast or similar. WPML is compatible with the popular SEO plugins. You have to install and enable the WPML SEO add-on (available in all the packages) to see those meta tags in the translation editor. I don’t know what SEO plugin you use, if you use Yoast, Tthis page explains the details: https://wpml.org/documentation/plugins-compatibility/using-wordpress-seo-with-wpml/
Hello,
when purchasing WPML you can provide your or your client’s card (or PayPal) and any email address (yours or your client’s). For us it doesn’t matter whose card and email address is provided, however please keep the following in mind:
– the credentials to your WPML account will be sent to the email you used when purchasing WPML
– the invoice will be sent to that email too
– you can download the WPML invoice from your WPML account
– any further emails (including emails about future renewals) will be sent to that email
– you can change your payment method (including providing a different card number) at any time from within your WPML account
Hope that helps.
Hi, I want to purchase the wpml plugin and I would like to ask you if the first option (39$) is enough to translate a website that has woo commerce integrated. thank you
And another question: which one of the wpml options tranlates the menu, woo commerce, the website is already built by default in english. Can it make it by default romanian? thank you in advance.
To translate WooCommerce you need the Multilingual CMS package. Regular menus can be translated with the Blog package but the Blog package won’t translate you block menu (for site using Full Site Editing).
Hello,
I cannot see taiwanese on the list of supported languages https://ate.wpml.org/mt_langs
This means that only manual translation is possible, which means that WPML can create pages in this language but the content in this language has to be provided manually.
I have couple websites on construction and i am thinking wpml to ease my pain in the translation Job. But does it change everything on the Page, example customization tool plugin on woocommerce? If the customization tool isnt multi-lingual, does wpml make it multi-lingual? Thanks for response
Hello,
WPML works with the WooCommerce plugins and the most popular WooCommerce add-ons. Please share the full name of the “example customization tool plugin on woocommerce” you are mentioning and when I have the name of the plugin I will check if we provide compatibility with the plugin. WooCommerce add-ons require our collaboration with the plugin authors to make them compatible with WPML. Here a list of some of the WooCommerce add-ons that are compatible with WPML: https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/woocommerce-multilingual/#popular-extensions This is not the full list. Please share the name of the WooCommerce add-on you use. Thank you.
Hello
Does the auto translation cost one time credits?
If I paid for 2000 words then later addedc1000 words to my website , then how can it work please and how to pay the extra?
Thanks
Hello Osama,
if something has been translated, you won’t pay for this again unless you introduce some changes to your original content. If that’s the case, you will need credits only for the parts that have changed.
Example: Imagine the page you translate consisted of 3 paragraphs. You translated the page. Credits were used for all three paragraphs. After a month you updated one of these paragraphs in your original page. Now, you need credits only to translate the paragraph that has changed.
In practice, this means, that you will need a lot of credits when you start using WPML and you will need fewer credits in the future.
You will get 90 000 credits for free when purchasing WPML. You can assign all of them to your site or only some of them. If you run of out the credits, you can add more credits from your WPML account, if you still have some there or if you don’t, you can sign up for Pays-as-you-go (PAYG) or buy a package of credits. Both are explained in detail here. PAYG is cheaper but requires providing our payment card. Credit packages are more expensive but you pay only for what a certain amount of credits.
You can control your current credit usage in WPML > Translation Management > Tools
You can also control manually which pages you want to translate.
I hope this helps.
I created this multilanguage website using Polylang and DIVI.
My questions:
1) Can I edit the already created pages in WPML?
2) Can I set a separate landing page for each of the 4 languages? I want to set a separate landing page for all 4 languages. I faced the issue that when I defined the landing page in SETUP – READ, it was the same landing page for all languages. DIVI support recommended me to use your product. What would be the procedure? Is there a full manual available?
I will appreciate your answer ASAP as I need to finalize those pages and preparing other multilanguage pages.
Hi, I have used your plug-in several times – but so far usually by logging in with clients credentials. Or by them giving me access. So at the moment it seems my profile is tied to one of my clients. How do I pproceed if I am to buy your plugin for my agency?
As a new client today we tried to buy WPML Multilingual agency license by credit card but it was refused to due to strange reason – we do not trust your site. Payment with PayPal account was requested but we do not have such.
How to do place order with credit card as new client?
Hello,
to use a credit card you have to click on “Use a different payment method” link below the Place order button when purchasing WPML. Please try again, maybe in a different browser. This is the first time we know about such a reason (“we do not trust your site.”)
I am a SEO specialist and the owner of a big website and I wanted to make sure before buying your services if your plugin also add the hreflangs tags to ensuring that google geolocalize the content or it “only” translates?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out!
WPML is a powerful translation plugin for WordPress, but it is not officially HIPAA compliant. WPML itself does not store, process, or encrypt sensitive data such as Protected Health Information (PHI) or Personally Identifiable Information (PII). However, if you plan to use automatic translation, please note that WPML use APIs of popular translation engines (e.g. DeepL, Google Translate and similar tools including WPML AI-based engines) to translate your content. If you need HIPAA compliance, you should consult a compliance expert and ensure that no PHI/PII is included in translatable content. Also, please don’t use automatic translation services for sensitive medical data. WPML allows you to select what pieces of content to translate automatically. I hope this helps.
Hello,
Yes, we can offer you a 50% discount on the plugin if you represent a non-profit organization. Please use this form to apply. Don’t forget to include a link to the non-profit website you plan to translate.
Please note that we do not offer any discounts on translation credits. When you purchase the Multilingual CMS package, you will receive 90,000 translation credits for free, which will allow you to translate either 45,000 or 90,000 words, depending on the translation engine you choose.
If your site requires additional credits, you will need to purchase them separately. You can find more details here.
Hello i have an issue with my woocommerce product translations of attributes and variations, kind of a bug. How can i receive support without having to buy again a subscription again? i am noo more a client but i use a translated website made with WPML.
Hello,
If the site using WPML is registered with an active WPML subscription, you have two options:
1. Request access from the subscription owner.
You can ask the owner for their WPML account credentials to log in and access our support forum.
2. Ask the owner to create a profile for you.
The owner can set up a special profile for you, allowing you to use our support forum on their behalf.

Hello dear WPML team,
I have a pretty simple law-related WordPress site to translate. It will be based on Blocksy theme/plugin.
