Hello,
Back in March I paid the bill to renew my WPML account. Now I log into the account and see that the payment appears to be pending. Could this please be reviewed?
Thank you.
Hello,
you mean the language switcher? It can appear anywhere. The easiest way is to add it to your footer or to your sidebar as a widget – for this to happen you need to enable a relevant option in WPML settings. But you can put it anywhere if you are capable of editing the source files of your theme. And you can style it further with custom CSS. So answering your question: it is possible but requires custom coding. I wouldn’t recommend adding language switcher as a pop-up though. Google and another search engines bots will use to index your site so it should be easily available for them, as a part of your page.
1. Does WPML work on a WordPress 4.1 Multisite Setup?
2. I currently use a multisite install for my various domains .com/.co.uk/.dk etc (One site equals one language/country.) Is it possible to gradually migrate away from this into WPML
or would I need to do it in one go. (All articles at once?)
Is there a free trial (Do you offer a 30 day trial?)
Hi,
WPML is an alternative for the solution you have now and requires only one WordPress Install. If you are using Multisite only to handle different languages one option could be to leave your main site and use WPML for it (it is possible to ‘uninstall’ multisite). I don’t know what URL format you are using but you shouldn’t lose your current Google traffic after switching to WPML (WPML supports both language version as subdomains and folders).
Since you are asking about 30 day trial and you will need some technical help to start with I would recommend you to buy WPML and give it a try. Our refunds policy allows you test it for 30 days. During that time you can ask our supporters for help. They are more technical than I am and have additional tools to help you, if needed. If it turns out however that you are not satisfy with our plugin, we will give your money back. But you must send your request within 30 days:
Greetings, I am currently working on a multilanguage website offline using XAMPP with WordPress installation: would it be possible to use WPML in this situation?
I’m thinking that, since the website has no real url (apart of course from http://localhost/wordpress, even though I have already registered the domain), I would have trouble registering, getting a key and activating WPML: would this be the case? I have been going through your support forum but I couldn’t find any answer. And no, I can’t work on a web server for various reasons. Thanks for your time.

No, renewing is not mandatory. The WPML versions you have already downloaded will continue to work normally. Nothing will stop working. Please note that fixes to bugs and other problems are released in plugin updates.
Without a valid account, you cannot access our downloads section and benefit from plugin fixes. And of course you need a valid account to download WPML and get access to technical support in our forums.
1) We are a non-profit and may qualify for a free subscription. I provided the requested information, but we are under a bit of a time crunch. If we purchase the WPML and then find in the next 1-3 weeks that we do qualify for a free subscription, would the money then just be refunded back?
2) I just want to be sure that I understand the translation option that I read on your site. Once we download the WPML plug-in it can translate the contents on the different pages of the website and then have the widgets at the bottom for clients to choose and access the appropriate languages? And we can just hire translators (on our own or through you) to then proofread and/or edit the translation? I believe that was the first option…

You wrote: Once we download the WPML plug-in it can translate the contents on the different pages of the website
To clarify: WPML is not an automated (machine) translation plugin.
…then have the widgets at the bottom for clients to choose and access the appropriate languages
Yes, the widget is called a “language switcher widget” It displays the languages you want as well as in the format you select (horizontal, vertical, etc.)
And we can just hire translators (on our own or through you) to then proofread and/or edit the translation
That’s right. As of version 3.2 you have more options for professional translation. At the moment we support two professional translation services but more are on the way. You can find out more details about professional translation here: https://wpml.org/documentation/content-translation/
An alternative option to professional translation is using your own translators. This works as explained here: https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/using-the-translation-editor/ We refer to this option as “Local translation” to differentiate it from “professional translation”. A big difference here is that local translators have access to your WordPress admin backend. How much access they get depends on the WordPress user role you give them.
Let me know if you have further questions and I’d be happy to answer them 🙂
On our website we have the WPML Media, WPML Multilingual CMS, WPML Sticky Links and WPML String Translation plugins installed. I want to update them, but need to purchase licenses for them (as they were previously licensed under someone else’s account). When I purchase a license for the Multilingual CMS ($79), do I enable updates for all these plugins? And if not, what license should I buy to be able to do that?
Normally we send an email notification with instructions on how to renew. Check you spam folder in case the email landed there.
In any case instructions are also usually displayed on your account page.
Please note that renewing at 50% of the normal cost is an option that is available only 30 days before your current subscription expires. If you need further assistance feel free to contact us at hello@wpml.org
I am building a coorporate site with a genesis template and I am interested in buying your plugin, but first I would like to see it working in my site, I installed your “WPML Widgets” wordpress pluin but still can not make it work, how can i test your plug in in my site before buying?
WPML Widgets is a free plugin created by an independent plugin author which requires WPML to work. This is the reason why you did not get what you might have expected 🙂
We do not offer a trial version of our plugin however we do give people the chance to get a refund in case they are not happy with it. No questions asked. See the last “presale” FAQ on our presales page about this.
I would like to purchase WPML for a site which uses Enfold theme. Do your have a full support / compatibility with this theme?
I would like to purchase it on behalf of a business company. Can you send us an invoice?
Thanks.
I want to purchase “Multilingual CMS” plan now. In future, will I be able to upgrade to “Multilingual CMS Lifetime” plan? If yes, how much the cost will be?
Hello Bappi,
Yes, this is possible. Upgrading from Multilingual CMS to Lifetime is possible within 30 days before your current subscription expires and you pay the difference only.
Log into your WPML account and you will find relevant links there.
Hello I just wanted to renew my subscription but I only see an option to pay 29$ when renewal are supposed to be 15$. Could you please let me know how this works.
Renewals at 50% are only possible if you renew within 30 days prior to expiration. If the 30 days are exceeded then you’ll need to pay the full price. See “How do account renewals work?” FAQ on the purchase page.
I previously completed the “non-profit” contact form (using the same email address) inquiring about a free subscription, but I never received a response. Please let me know if you need any further clarification regarding my information.
Hi, I would like to be sure; when I purchase WPML and WPML Widgets, it will translate not only the pages, but the content of the text widgets. I have tried other plug-ins, but have found they translated the page, but left the content of the widgets in English.
(Using AccessPress – Parallax Pro)
Thanks in advance
WPML Widgets is a free plugin that you can use with WPML to control which widgets display per language. SO for example say you have a text widget and you want it to display English text on the English version of your site and German text on the German version of your site. You will need to enable it twice. Then have WPML Widgets control which widget instance display for which language. So yes the combination will allow you to have your widget text display correctly in each language.
Now, if you plan to purchase “WPML Multilingual CMS” you will have access to WPML String Translation which will make it possible for you to translate your widgets without having to activate multiple instances of them. So with WPML Multilingual CMS you do not even need WPML widgets at all!
Ive downloaded WMPL and tried to configure it for a french copy of our english site.
We have products as well as custom pages with content on them. I’m trying to find a way to export all text to one file, so this can be sent out to translators. I’d like to do this in a similar way to .PO files. Is this possible?
We have 5 sites that need translating, and the version I have here is a test-bed. If it works, we’d like to buy it complete with support. I don’t see an email or number though, so can’t find a place to get my question answered?
You asked: We have products as well as custom pages with content on them. I’m trying to find a way to export all text to one file, so this can be sent out to translators. I’d like to do this in a similar way to .PO files. Is this possible?
.po files are normally used for localizing texts that originate in WordPress themes and plugins.
For all other text, translators usually work with a XLIFF formatted files
So what you are asking is not possible. Hope this answers your question. 🙂
Hi. I wanna ask you something because I have looked on the internet a lot before I buy plugin and I’m confused with something. Do I need to translate every page on language I wanna to or plugin does for me? I saw some videos on YouTube and I sawed that people translate content bye they own. I need to translate my page to 3 more languages and I’m not a an expert for 2 languages and I doubt that Google translate will translate them properly? Thanks in advance.
It is true that translating site content yourself in various languages is not always possible because of language limitations we all have. This is where professional translation comes to fill in the gap 🙂

The difference is that WPML is not machine translation. You can read more about this here: https://wpml.org/faq/does-wpml-support-machine-translation/
Hope this helps.
M.Ahmad, I got an email from you saying that a link I send you does not work?

Hello Liz,
I’m afraid not. WPML is not compatible with IDX plugins.

Thanks.
I believe I already replied to this earlier 🙂
The answer is no. You can check our plugin compatibility list for possible alternatives if you like.

WPML is a WordPress plugin that makes human translation easier to manage. It does not automatically translate your site content for you.
It is true that translating site content yourself in various languages is not always possible because of language limitations we all have. This is where professional translation comes to fill in the gap 🙂

Hello Raj,
Multi-currency is a feature we do in fact support.
Here you can find all relevant information regarding WooCommerce Multilingual and you may find our “Making WooCommerce Themes Multilingual and Multi-Currency Ready” tutorial of interest.
I paid for the plug-in Multilingual SMS $ 79.00 USD (02.07.20015).

Hello Arturo,
Renewals at 50% are only possible while your account is still valid. 30 days before it expires you are notified about it. If the 30 days are exceeded then you have to pay the full price. What do you see when you login to your account? If you still see the notification to renew and your current licence is still valid then you will get the discount.
How easy is it to migrate products from WooCommerce to WCML? Currently have 1200 products or so.
How well does WPML and WCML work with the WooCommerce API? Can I create and manage ML products and orders with the API?
Currently managing three separate language sites and looking at WPML and WCML as an option.
Does WPML support subdomains we use now. ie.. http://www.site.com, fr.site.com, de.site.com and so on?
I am also wanting to know if we can hide products from a certain language if the description has not been completed yet. For example if a product has an English and French description but not one in Spanish the product will not show when the Spanish language is selected.
WPML allows you to hide a particular language altogether. If you are looking at hiding an individual product and not an entire language section then the best way will be to set the product to Draft.
Hello bigtom,
You do not need to migrate your products. WCML simply is a “bridge plugin” between WooCommerce and WPML which make the two main plugins (WC/WPML) to integrate.
I believe you will find the following articles of interest:
https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/woocommerce-multilingual/
https://wpml.org/documentation/support/making-woocommerce-themes-multilingual-and-multi-currency-ready/
Regarding subdomains. WPML does support language configuration in subdomains and you can learn more about the setup here: https://wpml.org/faq/server-setting-for-languages-in-different-domains/
Hope this covers your questions. Do let us know if we can be of further help in any way.
Thanks!
WooCommerce API support for WPML? This is a big deal. I believe I can run multisite with the API but with an API call for each language.
You seem to have answered all of my other questions.
I do wonder what will happen if WPML need to be removed. Maybe the safer way is to just leave it running and disable all but one language.
Lifetime CMS sounds good to me but I need to know it is the best path.
I essentially want to confirm I can upload a multilingual product via Woocommerce API in one step. There is no mention of this in the API docs. http://woothemes.github.io/woocommerce-rest-api-docs/
