Hello, I want to try wpml for one year, and want to buy year subscription, but then is it possible to increase account from 79$ to lifetime subscription? If possible, how much it will cost for increasing subscription from 79$ to lifetime?
Hello, I just bought the Blog version (29$), but it was an error… As I am using the Enfold theme, I am told to install the translation management module and the string translation module. To do that I must upgrade to the multilingual CMS version, but I don’t know how to do that without repaying twice the 29$ (should cost me 50$ and not 79$). there is no upgrade option on the Sales page, and I cannot upgrade from my dev. web site…
Thank you,
Frederic
Hello Frederic,
thank you for purchasing WPML. Yes, you can upgrade from the “Blog” subscription to the “CMS” one for the difference in purchase price. Please log into your WPML account and you will see relevant options there.
I have to set up a new WordPress site with WPML. When starting I have only the original german text, but further I need also English and Italian.
What settings do I have to use on “WordPress settings” when I start? English or German?
Thx
Hello,
if you want German to be your primary language, then you choose German both for WP settings and then, when you also need to choose German as your primary language in WPML.
I will standard use wpml for my website. I have also a test website (tourtest.nl) . For this website I will also use wpml. Question: Which wpml I can use? I use wordpress for both websites.
I do only Dutch and English menu witg pages
Can you give me a solution.
Hello,
doesn’t matter if you buy the “Blog”, “CMS” or the “CMS Lifetime” version you can use WPML for many sites. The Blog version allows you to translate basic elements such as pages, posts, categories, menus but you won’t translate other strings (appearing in sliders, coming from your theme options etc). You get bug the Blog version and upgrade to the CMS version later for the difference in purchase price.
I am designing a web page with Divi theme.
I have two static pages and 5 in total portfolio pages which uses 150+ project entries in total.
I only need those 2 static pages to be translated but I need to use the same 5 portfolio pages which uses 150+ projects in both languages. I dont need and want them to be translated. There is nothing on those pages to be translated.
But WPML forces me to translate project categories and this make me to create 150+ more project files in addition to current 150+ project files. This means too much labour for me. I dont want this.
I only need 2 static pages to be translated and use the same 5 portfolio pages in both languages.
Is it possible in WPML? if yes how? I need urgent help.
Thank you for your reply.
Your response and guidance helped me a little bit to understand solve my problem but there is one tiny but important bug about the projects.
When I duplicate all the projects as “duplicate content” without beeing translated it did but it lost all the featured images of all the projects..
Now in my portfolio pages model names appear and their featured images no not… it is a big mistake and big labour for me. Becase there are 150+ model project pages.. I dont want to edit each one of them one by one.
To fix this, we’ll need to check how you’re displaying these featured images. There are all sorts of solutions, but I don’t want to try them by random. Can you create a support thread about this? https://wpml.org/forums/forum/english-support/
Explain to the supporter what you’re doing and what I explained here. Show a link to your site (if it’s online). If it’s online local, a supporter will probably need access to, or at least screenshots. You should check if the featured images are assigned in the admin. When duplicating posts, featured images should be set by WPML.
Themes need to have their own CSS for RTL display. WPML cannot create this automatically, because the RTL CSS depends on the theme’s design. We created a list of themes that we’ve tested with WPML here: https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/
Please note that the default WordPress themes (for example Twenty Sixteen, Twenty Seventeen) are all already adapted for RTL languages and could be a good reference. Please open the default theme and look for the file rtl.css. You’ll see what changes it made to the CSS for the default theme. Usually, these changes are pretty small and easy to follow.
2Checkout cannot process my purchase with my credit card. I missed the renewal discount because of their incapability. I use the same credit card that I always use on internet and have never had an issue. I already contacted 2Checkout and they told me to use another credit card or clear cache. It wasn’t very helpful. I cannot use PayPal because the service is no longer available in Turkey.
I would like to renew my subscription, but i can’t figure out how to make a payment. I appreciate your help.
I’m not sure what’s causing it. I know that PayPal is blocked in Turkey, but 2co should work normally. We’ve had normal purchases through 2co today, so their system appears to be working normally. It’s probably something temporary and would become OK very soon.
When your payment method works, if your account expired already, let us know and we’ll extend it a bit, so you can renew your account at the same rate.
Hello David,
yes, you can. You can upgrade from the ” Multilingual CMS” to the “Lifetime” subscription for the difference in purchase price. To do so, you just need to log into your WPML account and you will find an appropriate option there.
Hello, i currently run a wordpress multisite which allows me to have an English and Greek version of my site…

the example you shared uses a subfolder for your second language and such a setup is possible to configure using WPML, you don’t need to use a multisite install.
I red that WPML is using hreflang in http header for Google. But is it also implementing meta http-equiv for Bing search engine? Bing doesn’t know hreflang. Thanks in advance.
Hello Geoffrey,
why would you need the meta http-equiv attribute? Google tries to determine the main languages of each one of your page and ignores all code-level language information, from “lang” attributes to Document Type Definitions (DTD) and they aren’t very reliable when trying to determine the language of a webpage. You help to make language recognition easier if you stick to only one language per page and avoid side-by-side translations. Please share your reasons for handling this meta http-equiv attribute and in the meantime I will check with our developers if WPML supports it.
First of all thank you for your answer. I didn’t receive the e-mail you spoken about. I would like to create a .com website with subfolders (.com/nl-nl | .com/be-nl | .com/de-de and so on). So for the search engines i would like to rank the right page in the right country (duplicate content + pages for the same language and maybe the same countries – regions). Google uses hreflang: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/189077?hl=en But BING doesn’t use hreflang but meta tags: https://blogs.bing.com/webmaster/2011/03/01/how-to-tell-bing-your-websites-country-and-language/ So my question is if there is also a solution for BING, that they recognize the right pages in combination with the right language – country – region?
Hi,
here’s what I sent you in the email that you didn’t receive (please check your spam)
From Bing documentation:
How To Tell Bing Your Website’s Country and Language
With cloud services such as Windows Azure now a viable alternative to traditional web hosting, numerous webmasters have reached out to us to ask if, and how, Bing uses the document’s location as a part of its ranking algorithm. In other words: does cloud-based web hosting outside of the document intended geography negatively impact a document’s ranking?
They clearly say that:
Alternatively, embed the document location in either the html or the title element using the same format:
html lang=”en-us”
title lang=”en-us”
The html tag already contains this information.
Moreover, this tag, as well as the “http-equiv” has a different purpose: it says the language of the current page.
“HREFLANG”, instead, says what are the translations of the current page.
Hi, thanks for your answer. OK. Let the technical aspects on the background.
This is my goal: I would like to create a .com website with subfolders (.com/nl-nl | .com/be-nl | .com/de-de | .com/us-en and so on). So for the search engines i would like to rank the right page in the right country (duplicate content + pages for the same language and maybe the same countries – regions)
Does WPML provides the right settings in my case to get the right page to the right user in the right country in the right region in the right language?
Hi Geoffrey,
WPML has a feature (disabled by default) to redirect your user to his/her language based on the language set in their browser. The problematic part is that it’s impossible for WPML to always “guess” the visitor’s language, as the user may have a wrong configuration in her browser.
There are other solutions out there, like the IP geolocalization, but we’ve decided to not use them, as they are often even less reliable.
Please note that if you provide valuable content in each language, you will attract organic traffic (from search engines) to these pages in a natural way.

For WooCommerce sites, you will need the complete Multilingual CMS package.

You don’t need to really translate all this material. If project pages need to appear in their own URLs, you should set the to ‘translatable’ and you can duplicate them to all languages. You can achieve this with WPML’s Translation Management module. This page explains it:
https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/displaying-untranslated-content-using-content-duplication/
If you don’t need to have separate URLs for the projects in each language, you can set them to ‘not translatable’.
Dear Amir
Thank you for your reply.

As a translation service provider, can I install my purchased plugin on my client’s site, or do they have to have their own copy?
It’s better that clients will buy WPML and not get it from you. This way, your client gets:
1. Automatic updates for plugin versions (very important for security and stability)
2. Support from us
Otherwise, both updates and support will need to go through you, which you probably don’t want to have.
hello
i just bought a theme from themeforest.net,
i want to know if i installed WPML to this site , will WPML can change the site to RTL direction??
2. will it creates the CSS file for RTL direction.
cheers
Themes need to have their own CSS for RTL display. WPML cannot create this automatically, because the RTL CSS depends on the theme’s design. We created a list of themes that we’ve tested with WPML here:
https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/
If your theme is not there, it’s not a problem. You can ask the theme author to join our compatibility program and we’ll test it together. The link to the compatibility program (for theme authors) is here:
https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/go-global-program/
Do you have a video/ article link to:

Make RTL layout for an existing non RTL wordpress theme?

Hi dear support,
Can I upgrade to the lifetime license (195$) if I buy the Multilingual CMS license (79$) first ?
If yes, do I have to pay the difference ?

Hi WPML team,
I just consider to buy WPML Multilingual CMS,
In have some questions:
is that package included below functionality?
1. Auto redirect with IP tracking. (ex: US user redirect to English site, Germany user redirect to Germany language site)
2. woocommerce Currencies manual changed ( ex: a product price $100, I need to manual and automatically change to Rp. 1.350.000 )
3. woocommerce products import/export function(included languages). too many product need to translate, will spent to much time to translate 1 by 1.
Thank you.
Hello,
thank you for your interest in WPML. To answer your questions:
1. WPML doesn’t have any IP tracking system but it does have an option to detect the visitor’s language based on his/her browser settings. Once enabled, this option automatically redirects your user to the relevant language version.
2. Yes, both options are possible to configure. Please check this documentation page for details. Locate Using automatic exchange rates and Configure distinct prices for different currencies sections.
3. Yes, you can. You will need to install the WPML All Import https://wpml.org/account/downloads/
Guide: https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/wpml-all-import-plugin-website-import-with-wpml/ and you will need WooCommerce Add-On Pro http://www.wpallimport.com/add-ons/
Hi there, We’re planning to build a site with WPML, WooCommerce and multi-currencies. We have coupons as follows.
Fixed price coupon:
Coupon discount for SEK: 500 SEK
Coupon discount for EUR: 52 EUR
So there will be different discounted price for each currency. Is it possible enter different discounted pricing for the each currency?
Thanks
Hi Achntha,
for coupons we’re converting the product price based on exchange rate set in the WooCommerce Multilingual plugin.
Can’t we enter the each price in the coupon edit page instead of using exchange rates?
Only for your primary language, for products in other languages the discount price is calculated based on exchange rate.

Hello
is it possible to use WPML in order to tranlate GRAVITY FORMS messages (error messages etc) ?
Hello. Yes, you can. This is explained in detail, on that page:
https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/gravity-forms-multilingual/
I am talking about the standard messages that Gravity generates, not the name of the fields that we create. i.e. messages like “This field is required” , “There was a problem with your submission. Errors have been highlighted below.” etc
Standard messages can be also translated. Actually, you don’t need WPML to translate these, they should be included in the po/mo files and can be translated with other tools (e.g. poedit) but you can also use WPML to translate them.

I look forward to hearing from you.

To translate my acf fields on my website. What does the extra plugin actually do?
– The Advanced Custom Fields Multilingual (ACFML) plugin. ACFML is a bridge plugin that makes WPML and Advanced Custom Fields plugin compatible.
Why isn’t it integrated in the core of WPML?
Hello,
The majority of WPML users don’t use/need the ACF plugin so we don’t want to provide them with/load features that will be never used.
