Dear WPML,
I use wp in my website and my theme provider suggest me to use WPML as language selector when i want to use multilanguage website.
But, I want to made bahasa indonesia as a default language. ex: logamjawa.com, but only when people want to change language to english they will change to logamjawa.com/en
Hello,
yes, WPML can do that. You will need to select the bahasa indonesia as your primary language and English as your secondary one. WPML will automatically create a subdirectory for English (logamjawa.com/en). If your language is not included in the list of default languages provided by WPML, you will need to add it manually by following this tutorial: https://wpml.org/documentation/support/editing-wpmls-languages-table/
I already purchase WPML. Still have to be familiar with it.
But I am wondering why I should renew and pay wpml every year? I still dont get what benefit I get. If I translate all my website by my self today to bahasa i just finish and why i should have to pay wpml every year for Just get update wpml version?
You need to have a valid account (pay for renewals) in order to download WPML and get our support. If you’re not planning on downloading new versions and you will not need our support, you don’t have to renew.
Of course, your existing sites and their translations will continue working fine if your account expires. WPML plugin which you install on your sites doesn’t “expire”.
By default, new accounts will have automatic renewals. You can change that in one click inside your account. We’re not going to charge you for renewals if you don’t want renewals.
Hello,
I want to try the WPML’s Advanced Translation Editor during the beta period.
If this is change from beta to payment I want to decide if I want/need it or not.
Is this possible maybe than to change to classic back?
I will not change automatic to month $8,- payment edition!
Please tell me how it will work.
Sorry, my english is bad but I think you can understand what I mean.
Kind regards
Uschi
For now ATE is 100% free, no payment details are required. Switching from the classic editor to ATE and back to the classic one is easy (clicking a button) and can be done an unlimited number of times with no charges.
I was looking into WPML a month ago and you had a lifetime package… i can’t see it available on your website. Is it still available but not promoted in any way by any chance ?
How are your blocks going on for WP 5.0 coming along soon through gutenberg ?
Hello Olivier,
we have changed our offer recently and the Lifetime package is no longer available. This is our current offer: https://wpml.org/purchase/
we have one website, with translations for some countries.
Every Country has its one Top-Level-Domain Ending, that means we have more than one domain.
But the wordpress Admin Site is only one for all.
The “Multilingual CMS” subscription allows you to register only three domains but if you are using WordPress Multisite, it registering only the main domain should suffice. You can buy the Multilingual CMS and if it turns out that you need to register each of your domains separately, you can upgrade to the “Multilingual Agency” version for the difference in purchase price.
I have a question about paid actualization. If I understand correctly when I will not pay for next year I lose support and automatic actualization but I still can use plugin on my website and download new verstion from your website? It it’s true?
Hello Kamil,
renewals are options indeed. Here’s what happens if you don’t renew and your subscription expires: you can still use the plugins that you downloaded/installed but you won’t be able to ask questions in our support forum and you won’t have access to new releases.
Hello,
I am working a site which is based on this theme https://www.templatemonster.com/wordpress-themes/64157.html from template monster. I was told that the theme is WPML compatible. As I am building the site with POWER BUILDER which is incorporated in the theme, I need to know if this page builder is compatible with wpml and how can i translate my pages quickly ideally using this builder. Or is there another way to do this via wpml admin panel.
Hello Alexia,
this theme hasn’t been tested by our compatibility team. Your page builder might work when used with WPML but you will need to duplicate it for pages in different languages since we are not integrated with this page builder. it means that if you make a change in your page that was built with this page builder in one language, you will need to apply the same change in the translated page manually. If a page builder is integrated with WPML, you only need to translate the strings.
I was wondering what is the best option for me to choose. We have one website so I am ofcours leaning towards the ‘blog’ option. But I’m not sure yet. I am currently building a new website with visual composer. We for sure want english as an option and maybe also french and russian. Can you help me choose?
First, you only need to register sites that you’re running in production. You don’t have to register development sites.
For another week from now, you can upgrade your account to Agency without paying anything extra. Log-in to your account and you will see a big banner offering you to upgrade for free.
We are wandering if wpml supports acf with nested pages (one level deep). And can Gatsby pull all the content generated by wpml.
Also does wpml localisation rather then just translation. In other words, can I have multiple versions of French i.e. Belgium french, french french, Canadian french, Swiss french etc
But to answer your question (acf with nested pages – one level deep) I need to consult this topic with our developers from the Compatibility Team. Also to answer the part about using Gatsby.
I will keep you posted.
WPML handles both localization and translation. If you have po/mo files you can rely on those but optionally you can also translate the strings coming from the gettext functions using WPML. In addition, you can use WPML to translate everything, which is actually the main purpose of using WPML.
Hello, sorry for my late reply. I just got the reply from our developer. He says that most of the content generated by WPML are posts and pages and these can be used via REST API.
Hi, I am interested in purchasing the Multilingual CMS version of WPML for the e-learning non-commercial wordpress website that we are developing at the university where we share open educational resources. We have a regular website that is up and running which we want to translate but also a copy of the website (under a different domain), which we use to test new things before implementing them on the regular website. My question is, if we try the WPML plugin first on the website copy and then on the regular website, will we use 2 of the 3 website registrations that are included with this version? Or is it possible to try it first on the website copy, cancel it when we are done testing it and then install it on the real website so we only use 1 of the 3 website registrations?
Hello Carla,
Our system will allow you to register only 3 domains but you can register and unregister your domains as many times as you wish. So once you are done with your testing, simply unregister this domain. WPML will still work on this (unregistered) site but you won’t be able to update it to new versions of our plugins (to do so, you will need to register it again).
Thank you for your answer. When I unregister a domain, will I be able to use that registration for another domain? or will that registration be only for that domain even though I won’t use it anymore?
Hello there, I need to understand how does Wpml licence works when subscription ends after one year and continues for example 3 years. You said that “won’t be able to update it to a new versions of our plugins“, I should register again and pay again. How much will be a purchase price (Account renewal per year) after 3 years being without subscription?
After the subscription expires you will lose access to updates and support. You can keep using whatever you have installed on your site. If you want to re-enable the subscription after it has expired you will have to purchase at full price again.
I want to use any free theme or paid like Nixe theme for my wordpress site. What will be your support if WPML plugin not able to translate the content or if there is any issues while displaying at front side? What if the translated content is not displaying at front end for testimonials, gallery or any other plugin?
Hello,
thanks for your interest in WPML. According to the theme page, it works with WPML but this theme hasn’t been tested by our Compatibility Team which means that some theme-dependant features like the ones you listed might be tricky to translate.
You can buy WPML and test it with that theme, keeping our refund policy in mind (it allows you to test WPML for 30 days without risking anything except your time).
After activating your Blog account again, please check if you have access to the WPML Media plugin (Go to the Downloads section). It should be there. If it’s not, you will need to upgrade to the “Multilingual CMS” subscription but you can do so later, for the difference in purchase price.
Hello.
I made a mistake in order payment.
I want to cancel Multilingual Agency – $ 159 (USD) .. But Payment has already been completed.
And I want to buy Multilingual CMS – $ 79 (USD).
What should I do?
Hello Alexandra,
I see you have a CMS subscription, which now has a restriction of 3 sites. To regain access to unlimited sites we have a special offer: log in to your account and you will see an offer to upgrade to upgrade to Agency for free. The renewal fee will be locked at 59$/year if you accept the offer now. Note this will be available until July 11th.
Hello Mannix,
in this case, please contact us using this form and send us your order number and we will sort it out for you. Thank you and sorry for the inconvenience. https://wpml.org/home/contact-us/contact-form/
I’m running n a 1 year license that we ordered when we started our website to try things out before committing further. We’re rather happy of WPML Multilingual, but thought we could then order an unlimited license for a 1 time fee by just paying the difference. We would now like to get that unlimited license and paying the difference rather than renewing it each year..
However I can’t find the unlimited license offer … Don’t you provide this offer it anymore ?
We discontinued selling NEW Lifetime accounts a couple of weeks ago. We announced the upcoming change on April and again on June, before we stopped selling Lifetime accounts. I’m very glad to hear that you’re happy with WPML. To renew your account, log-in to wpml.org. You will see a big box in your account page explaining how to take advantage of our complementary upgrade. Please do this soon, because this complementary upgrade ends this week.
I’am triggered by the “upgrade now to get the old price” offer, but have 2 questions:
First:
I’ve found examples where multiple langs could be shown as .com/lang-xyz/post-title and .com/post-title?lang=xzy
Is it possible to have the same url but different content – by using a cookie?
Second:
Your pricing table shows “Page Builder Support” – which are the referring to? Can I even translate parts of a page (e.g. “Text Block”), so updates on other parts of the page would be in sync?
I don’t need a traditional translation, but want to change some text to match the language of my targets (e.g. young vs. old people)
“I don’t need a traditional translation,” do you mean that you don’t need to run your site in two (or more) languages? If you don’t need a multilingual site than WPML is not for you. But maybe I misinterpreting this sentence. Please specify what is your goal and I will try to help.
“Is it possible to have the same url but different content – by using a cookie?”
No. That’s not the goal of using WPML.
Good day,
We would like to purchase WPML, I just have a couple of questions. Are all the levels of purchases compatible with SiteOrigin Page Builder? And if we decide of 3-6 months can we upgrade from the Multilingual Blog Package to the Multilingual CMS?
yes, WPML is compatible with the SiteOrigin Page Builder and this page explains how you can use it. Yes, you can upgrade from the Multilingual Blog Package to the Multilingual CMS later (you will find a link in you WPML account and you will only pay the difference in purchase price) but please note that in order to use WPML with page builders you need the Multilingual CMS package.
Good day, we are wanting to purchase WPML but have a couple of questions. Are all the packages compatible with SiteOrigin? And if we purchase the $29 package can we upgrade to one of the others at a later stage, say after 6 months?
HI support!
I have one website, built with X-THEME with translations for one country. The wordpress Admin Site is only one for all.
At beginning we thought of having 4 languages so we bought an account with unlimited sites
but as WPML was giving so many issues we had to stop with two. Do I still need the unlimited or not? I know there is an ongoing promotional offer on the unlimited, what would the price of a different one be?
Hope it is clear 😉
thank you for your help
the Multilingual CMS package allows you to register only 3 sites, meaning three domains. You can add as many languages as you need. The ongoing promotional offer means that you can upgrade to the Agency subscription that allows you to register an unlimited number of domains/sites. Normally the Agency package’s renewal per year is $119. If you upgrade now, you will be able to renew for $59 instead (for each year, not just the upcoming one).
We’d like to understand if WPML supports the following use case.
We have multiple domains which refer to the same website, e.g. domain1.com, domain2.com and domain3.com.
We want multi-language support for WP pages, but only through a language picker in the top right corner of the web site. All domains should initially load the website in the same language.
We do NOT want secondary domains (domain2.com and domain3.com) to redirect to the primary domain (domain1.com). This is for SEO purposes.
We also do NOT want to display the website in a different language based on the domain.
after consulting your case with one of our best WPML supporters, here’s what he says:
“This is something that WPML is not responsible for.
I understand what the user asks here. This should be possible if the user dynamically sets the homeurl and site settings in WordPress – some people do that – yes.
Check this publication: https://pressable.com/blog/2015/10/08/define-wp_siteurl-and-wp_home-to-optimize-wp-config/
THis code:
define(‘WP_HOME’,’http://’. $_SERVER[‘SERVER_NAME’]);
define(‘WP_SITEURL’,’http://’. $_SERVER[‘SERVER_NAME’]);
This code allows you to run a site on every vhost that is defined for your server – e.g. if you have site1.com, the WordPress should behave like it is site1.com, but if you also have site2.com – then WordPress should also behave like it is site2.com
This is something that does not depend on WPML – but it is a WordPress setting.
If he sets up WPML there, then he can have site1.com which can open site1.com/de/ or site1.com/whatever_language/ and have also site2.com do the same with the exact same contents”
Thank you for this useful info. We have tested this and it works as expected.
However, we are currently using polylang for multi language support and polylang always rewrites to the URL which was previously defined as the siteurl & home for the website, regardless of these constants being defined in wp-config.php.
Can you confirm that WPML will not do any rewriting if WP is configured as explained on the pressable.com link? If so, we can migrate to WPML.
I have set an appointment in my calendar to upgrade to lifetime today. But i could not find it. I was offered lifetime upgrade when i first bought WPML, so i didn’t need tot pay it all at once.
That’s why i didn’t choose lifetime in the first place. Where can i find the upgrade to lifetime?
I deel a bit fooled by first giving me the option to upgrade afterward and then remove it a few days before i need to renew.
I read now that you have changed the system. But what about the offer you made back then? You can’t just offer someone something and then just take it back. I feel like i atleast have the right to upgrade to lifetime until 14 augustus since that is the day that you’ve told me i could upgrade later.
As I explained in my previous comment we informed all customers sending emails (a few times) so that everyone could upgrade to the Lifetime before that change.
we don’t have this option anymore and we sent emails to all our customers announcing this change months in advance. We also announced it in our blog.
If you are interested you can use this offer:
“we will invite everyone with yearly accounts to upgrade their accounts to the new Agency accounts (which have no limits on the number of site). This upgrade will be for free. You will not need to pay anything extra and you will still be able to build unlimited sites. Anyone who takes advantage of this upgrade will lock-in the yearly renewals at $59 and still receive unlimited sites. After this, people who buy new Agency accounts will pay the full price.” https://wpml.org/2018/06/wpml-accounts-system-to-update-this-week/
I have red that now.
But still, you can’t just promise something where people make purchase descisions on. The people who bought CMS to upgrade to lifetime later are now far worse off than the people who bought lifetime in the first place.
You shouldve never promised the upgrade since you can’t make it true. I feel really scammed right now.
Thank you for your feedback. In the past, we didn’t think ourselves that we would ever need to close this Lifetime offer. As we explained it in this thread: https://wpml.org/2018/04/lifetime-plan-going-away-favor-annual-renewals/ there were a few reasons why we needed to make such a decision. We knew that some of our customers would like to upgrade to Lifetime before we do so and this is why we communicated it weeks in advanced several times.

Hello,
I want to try the WPML’s Advanced Translation Editor during the beta period.
If this is change from beta to payment I want to decide if I want/need it or not.

Hello WMPL,
I was wondering what is the best option for me to choose. We have one website so I am ofcours leaning towards the ‘blog’ option. But I’m not sure yet. I am currently building a new website with visual composer. We for sure want english as an option and maybe also french and russian. Can you help me choose?

For Visual Composer, you will need the full Multilingual CMS package.
Hi there. I need to extend my licence from 3 to 6 sites (3 online & 3 localhost)
Thanks to indicate the price to pay.

Hi
We are currently using wp to generate content for our static site which uses Gatsby.

Hello Sebastian,
thank you for your interest in WPML. WPML works with ACF and you can read more about it here: https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/translate-sites-built-with-acf/#known-issues
But to answer your question (acf with nested pages – one level deep) I need to consult this topic with our developers from the Compatibility Team. Also to answer the part about using Gatsby.

Hi Agnes,
Thank you for your answer. When I unregister a domain, will I be able to use that registration for another domain? or will that registration be only for that domain even though I won’t use it anymore?
You will be able, no problem.
Thank you.
D.
After the subscription expires you will lose access to updates and support. You can keep using whatever you have installed on your site. If you want to re-enable the subscription after it has expired you will have to purchase at full price again.
Hi there,
I want to use any free theme or paid like Nixe theme for my wordpress site. What will be your support if WPML plugin not able to translate the content or if there is any issues while displaying at front side? Hello,
thanks for your interest in WPML.
Or you can choose another theme, from the list of themes tested by our Compatibility Team:

two questions
1) I would like to renew my “Multilingual Blog”, but when I click purchase it say 29$ isnteas of the 21$ for renewal…?
2) With “Multilingual Blog” package, will I then be able to translate my revolution slider?
Hello, your subscription has expired (May 27, 2017) and you need to buy it again, that’s why you see $29 instead of $21.
To translate the revolution slider you will need the WPML Multilingual CMS plugin and WPML Media plugin:
https://wpml.org/documentation/plugins-compatibility/creating-multilingual-sliders-with-revolution-slider-and-wpml/
Hello,
I have replied to your mail about this. Please get back to me and let me know as I see you did buy a CMS subscription, instead of abn Agency.
Best,
Hello, I got the email about how WPML will have the limit for 3 websites now. Do I still have unlimited until the rest of this year?
I got the promo of 59$ Renewal, is this going to be the renewal price always? Or Just next year?
Hello Alexandra,
I see you have a CMS subscription, which now has a restriction of 3 sites. To regain access to unlimited sites we have a special offer: log in to your account and you will see an offer to upgrade to upgrade to Agency for free. I just purchased the Multilingual Blog package, but I don’t see it in my download page??
Hello Johannes,
I see it is active in your account. Are you logging in to johannesT-2?
You should see it in https://wpml.org/account/downloads/
Let me know please.
I see the WPML Multilingual CMS but I purchased the Blog version
What happens if the % of VAT applied on the price is wrong according to the region we are from?
We use a table of VAT percentages from the EU. Can you tell me what’s wrong so we can update our table?
Hi Amir,
Thanks for replying. I already purchased the license but in our region, Canary Islands, we have a different tax system. https://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/business/other-taxes/turnover-taxes-canary-islands_en
I hope hearing from you soon

I’ve found examples where multiple langs could be shown as .com/lang-xyz/post-title and .com/post-title?lang=xzy
Is it possible to have the same url but different content – by using a cookie?
Second:
Your pricing table shows “Page Builder Support” – which are the referring to? Can I even translate parts of a page (e.g. “Text Block”), so updates on other parts of the page would be in sync?
I don’t need a traditional translation, but want to change some text to match the language of my targets (e.g. young vs. old people)
Kind regards,
Patrick
Hello Patrick,
let me start with your last question:
Hello Tracy,
yes, WPML is compatible with the SiteOrigin Page Builder and this page explains how you can use it.
Hello Tracy,
your previous comment has been waiting for moderation. I have just replied.
Hello,
the Multilingual CMS package allows you to register only 3 sites, meaning three domains.
Hello
We’d like to understand if WPML supports the following use case.
We have multiple domains which refer to the same website, e.g. domain1.com, domain2.com and domain3.com.
We want multi-language support for WP pages, but only through a language picker in the top right corner of the web site. All domains should initially load the website in the same language.
We do NOT want secondary domains (domain2.com and domain3.com) to redirect to the primary domain (domain1.com). This is for SEO purposes.
We also do NOT want to display the website in a different language based on the domain.
Thank you
Glenn
Hello Glenn,
yes, WPML can support your case but there is some work to be done on your server’s side. This post explains the details:
https://wpml.org/2016/04/use-wpml-different-domains-per-language/
Hello, sorry, now I realized that you want different languages for each domain so please ignore my previous link and answer.
Hi again,
after consulting your case with one of our best WPML supporters, here’s what he says:
“This is something that WPML is not responsible for.
I understand what the user asks here. This should be possible if the user dynamically sets the homeurl and site settings in WordPress – some people do that – yes.
Check this publication: https://pressable.com/blog/2015/10/08/define-wp_siteurl-and-wp_home-to-optimize-wp-config/
THis code:
define(‘WP_HOME’,’http://’. $_SERVER[‘SERVER_NAME’]);
define(‘WP_SITEURL’,’http://’. $_SERVER[‘SERVER_NAME’]);
We both hope it helps.
Hi Agnes
Thank you for this useful info. We have tested this and it works as expected.
However, we are currently using polylang for multi language support and polylang always rewrites to the URL which was previously defined as the siteurl & home for the website, regardless of these constants being defined in wp-config.php.
Can you confirm that WPML will not do any rewriting if WP is configured as explained on the pressable.com link? If so, we can migrate to WPML.
Thank you
Glenn
Hello,
I’m glad you found that helpful. What link do you mean? Sorry, I got lost…
By the way, this guide explains how you can migrate from Polylang to WPML.

Hi Agnes,
We’ll go ahead and purchase a licence. Should the solution you’ve put forward for our use case not work, we’ll proceed to claim a refund…
Thanks
Glenn
Very good idea, this is exactly why we have the refund policy. Thank you.
Dear WPML,
I have set an appointment in my calendar to upgrade to lifetime today.
Thanks in advance.
Hello,
we don’t have this option anymore and we sent emails to all our customers announcing this change months in advance.
After this, people who buy new Agency accounts will pay the full price.”
https://wpml.org/2018/06/wpml-accounts-system-to-update-this-week/
