Hello,
I would like to set my website in different languages. I started to compare different proposals and looks WPML is more pricy but more professional. So I would be interested to get more information about it.
Is WPML and Elegant theme (with the Divi builder) are well compatible ?
I’ve seen totally different prices about WPML on different comparison website so I’m a little lost. I would like a plugin to enable the structure of the website with multi languages, with woo commerce included and with maybe an automatic translation that I can ammend it later. I would rather pay a life time abonnement and not have to renew payment every year (I’m not sure to find this option in your website). So what would be the price ? (only for 1 website of for all website I could create later ?)
I understand there is a core component WPML and then some extentions (like for woocommerce or automatic translation). Are these extention are well included in the price or it’s again a new payment I have to do later ? If it’s not includeed, for my needs described above, what are the extentions I would need and for what price ?
For the support, is it 24h/24h and 7days/7days ?
On my online wordpress interface (I don’t have it on my local machine), I tried to search the core plugin of WPML but I don’t find it. I found only “WooCommerce Multilingual – run WooCommerce with WPML”, which is I guess only the woo commerce extention and not the core module ? On your website I’ve the feeling I have to download a package, but then how can I import it in my online interface if it’s not a “usual” plugin ?
Hello Lionel,
Let me answer your questions:
Divi and WPML work well together https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/divi-builder/
To translate all the parts of your site including woocommerce you will need the CMS subscription, which costs 79$ with a yearly renewal of 59$. I am afraid we no longer offer lifetime subscriptions. All the add-ons are included in the CMS version.
Support is available through the forum from Mon to Fri 18 hs a day
To download and install WPML on your site please follow these steps https://wpml.org/faq/install-wpml/
Hello Mercedes,
Thank you very much for all the information and support. Everything is clear.
I have only one last question about the yearly renewal. What happened concretely if I don’t renew ?
I won’t have the new versions of the plugin available and no access to the support neither ? (Which is already good reasons by safety to renew)
Or it’s even more critical like website is not working anymore properly and I cannot add new translated content anymore ?
Thank you in advance for your feedback.
Best regards
Lionel Thouvenin
Hello Lionel,
if you don’t renew your WPML subscription, the plugins you have installed and downloaded will continue working fine but you will lose access to new releases and our support help. Of course, we cannot anticipate how the old versions will work with your site if you upgrade to a new version of WordPress. But you don’t need to have an active subscription to use WPML plugins. I hope it helps.
Hello Rathna,
you can configure WPML to work with any language. There are some default languages that are available immediately – please check the list here. If your language is not on that list, you can still add it manually as explained here: https://wpml.org/documentation/support/editing-wpmls-languages-table/
Please note that WPML itself doesn’t translate your content automatically, at least more immediately. If you are interested in machine translations you can use our new Advanced Translation Editor, which supports machine translations that need to be approved by you. please read more about it here:
Hi guys
Quick question regarding your translation plugin..
If I translate the website into 2 languages, will then both languages are indexed by google, like having 2 websites?
So that people in either language will be able to find the articles through google as if they were 2 standalone websites?
Thanks!
Tobias
Hello Tobias,
yes, this is exactly what will happen. And please note that providing good quality translations will help a lot in attracting organic traffic to your website. If someone googles something in their language and your website provides the answer and it’s search engine optimized, the user will be provided with the link to the page in his/her language.
I want to purchase the Multilingual Agency, what is the yearly renew? i’m a little bit lost in this! Do you mean i have to renew my plugin every 1 year ?
Dear Rami,
Yes, you need to renew your WPML every year if you want to have access to new versions and our support help. Please note that renewals are optional. If you don’t renew your subscription, you can still use the plugins that you installed or downloaded but you won’t be able to access new releases.
Please log into your WPML and you will find a link to do the upgrade. If you Multilingual CMS subscription is still active, you should be able to upgrade for the difference in your purchase price. Please log in and check what options are available for you.
I saw “Your account will expire on 2019-05-28 and you will no longer be able to download WPML or receive support. Set up automatic renewal”. Is it here?
I don’t see any upgrade CTA in my account area. Thanks!
We have a dev-test-live set up for each of our sites. With some plugins, having the plugin on the dev and test servers have counted as a use of a license key. That would cause us to need 3 license keys for one site. Is this an issue with this plugin or is there a way to designate that an environment is just a test environment?
You can use WPML on these sites without registering it. This will cause a big message to appear in the admin and the site will not receive automatic updates, but you can still use it as a testing environment.
I am working with the editorial department to create a multi-language headless WordPress authoring tool, we are looking at using Gutenberg and I can see you have a Gutenberg version of the WPML plugin.
So, Is the Gutenberg version now in production? If so, can I buy the Gutenberg version or if not where can I get the pre-production version from? How much support would we be able to get please? I caveat this, with the front end which is not WordPress would be outside your remit, but admin system and the support for myself as Tech Lead on integration of the plugin into the workflows and WordPress API’s.
We plan to release WPML 4.1, with the full Gutenberg support, during this week. I suggest to use this instead of a development version, which still has a few open issues.
Another question: I see you can do machine language translation from the advanced editor, but it there a way to do that for the whole site at once so that you don’t have to go into each page or post and accept it?
WPML asks you to review what you get from machine translation, because this is what Google actually recommends. Machine translation is great (it really is), but it’s not 100% accurate. We didn’t create a mode for one-click machine translation because it still requires polishing for almost every page that you translate.
Machine translation is fairly new to WPML. We’re adding more features in every release, so in the future we’ll probably have more automation than we have right now.
Is WPML able to detect the Language on my webiste and translate it based on the Geolocation of the viewer even if my webiste is written in different Language?
Ill make an example to make this a little bit more clear:
Leonardo posts something in my website in italian Language
Rodrigo posts something in my website in Spanish Language
Alain posts something in my webiste in French Language
Then Jhon in looking at my webiste from Russia. Will Jhon be able to see the 3 posts ( the entire webisite) in russian? (or at least in English?)
WPML doesn’t have the Geolocation feature but it can detect the user language based on the user’s settings in his/her browser. This feature is disabled by default and can be enabled in WPML settings. Once enables, when the user enters your homepage, he/she will be automatically redirected to the version matching his/her language.
If you include a language switcher, all the users will be able to switch the language even if they the autodetection is enabled. To answer your question, yes, John will be able to see the 3 posts if he uses the language switcher.
I would like to translate Gravity Forms, but in particular would like to translate the warning messages e.g. “This field is required” and other field specific content like ‘Drop files here or select files’ in an upload field. This should be for specific forms only.
Is this possible with WPML?
Many thanks,
Ian
Yes, WPML is compatible with Gravity Forms and it means you should be able to translate all the strings coming from the plugin. Please see more details here: https://wpml.org/plugin/gravity-forms/
Hello Baris,
This means that after the first year you will need to renew your account in order to access updates and support. You will be able to keep using the files which you have installed on your site, anyway.
Hi,
I understand how the WPML works with blogs and such websites, but would it be possible to use it with a “normal” website? I mean, I am buiding my companie´s website in english and would like to have it also in some other language. Is it possible to use it to create a “paralell” website instead of just new tabs? so that when my clients click on the flag, I have the same website but in other language?
Thank you.
Hello Lola,
I’m a bit confused about your question. What do you mean by a normal and “paralell” website? WordPress is not only for blogs and if you use pages, but you can also turn your blog into a regular website. Then you translate your pages using WPML. WPML is a WordPress plugin and can be used for any WordPress-based site.
But if you mean creating a separate website (have a separate WordPress installation) and then link to somehow to your current website, this is not a good idea. The idea of using WPML is to have only one website which can be available in a few languages. Like our wpml.org site.
Hi again,
Thank you.
I was just a big confused, because all the info that I have found it is about how to create multilingual site with blog pages and posts,
I am building a website and what I meant was that I would like to have it so that my clients come into my website in english, and let´s say I have a flag in italian, so when they push the flag, I have been able to do it so that they wil have the same exactly page, but in italian.. ( that I would have manually translate and created the text myself) that looks exactly the same and functions the same as the english one.
In that country, English / Malay and Chinese languages is considered very common in that country because it is a multi-racial country. The website i am planning to do is to do a eng/malay/cn verison language site.
As both these 3 languages are meant to target on Malaysia, how am I able to do it with WPML as with WPML, i guess for creating chinese version are meant for China etc. right?
It’s not possible to change the language “Code” (slug) of an existing language unless you add a new language using the “Add Language” button, with a different name (we have tutorials covering it).
Hello Simon,
if you ask about using WPML with the most popular SEO plugins the answer is that you will need the Multilingual CMS package since the integration requires the WPML String Translation add-on, which is not available in the Blog package.

Is it possible to change or adapt translated texts yourself?
Hello Frits,
Yes you can translate the translations manually. More info here https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/

This is a yearly subscription. You pay the start fee and then after a year the renwal fee. More info here https://wpml.org/purchase/

Hi,
I’m building a real estate website based on Real Homes theme – https://themeforest.net/item/real-homes-wordpress-real-estate-theme/5373914?ref=InspiryThemes
I’m confused which version should I buy, that will be the best for the website.
Also, the price there has a yearly subscription. What happens if I don’t renew the subscription? Will the plugin stop working?
Thanks.
Hello Vitaly,
To translate Real Homes you will need the CMS version. More info here https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/translating-real-homes-theme-using-wpml/
If you do not renew it next year you can keep using the files you have installed but you will no longer have access to updates and support.

Hello,
is “Multilingual CMS for life” license type still available?
Cannot find under

Hello George,
No, I am afraid this is no longer available.
