  1. Hello,

I just want to edit (not translate) text in several parts of my website – like editing text and paragraphs in the “My Account” section of WooCommerce -that is, the content of “Recent Orders”, “Shipping & Billing Addresses”, “Password” & “Account Details”.

In addition, I want to rename some titles in WooCommerce -such as:

    – The “Quick View” option which appears in product icons,

    – The “Sort by” and “Show” titles (how many numbers of products to show per category),

Can I do all of the above with WPML plugin?

Do I have to deactivate or delete Loco Translate?

    Regards,
    S.

    • Hello,
WPML is meant for multilingual sites (meaning, sites you want to make available in at least two languages). Please note that to translate WooCommerce strings you will need to install a few WPML plugins. If your goal is to just keep the site in one language, Loco Translate would be a better choice. WPML can do the job as well but it’s a kind of overkill for one-language sites.

  2. Hi,
I purchased this but look at the payment still pending!

but one question, since I use Martfury theme, the translation will do automatically after I set up on the backend ya? If doing it manual like loco, then I wrong to buy this plugin.

Please help me. its very difficult to contact you guys. 🙁

    • Hello,
our admins will check the status of your order.
No, WPML doesn’t translate fully automatically. We provide machine translation but first you need to select the posts you want to translate and then apply the machine translation for them. If you need to contact us directly, please use this form:
      https://wpml.org/home/contact-us/contact-form/

Please note that the Martfury theme hasn’t been checked by our Compatibility Team. I’m not sure which parts of the theme you would like to translate. You might have issues with more advanced stuff.

  3. Hello.

I have a movie blog and it is very big. It is in Croatian.

I would like to have multilanguage site. It could be only for English, because I think it would cost very much to transfer it to other languages as well.

    I have a few questions.

    – first, is is possible to transfer at once all my posts (more then 5000). I would like some of them to rank, but I of course have no idea which one can really rank on US territory, that’s what I am after

    – second is about ranking. I see your plugin works good with Yoast. Can you tell me more about how it does SEO? Only by having texts on that language and what happens happens, or is there something more to it?

    – can you tell me approximately at least, how much would it cost for me to get your engine and automatic translation for all my posts, pages, and everything else in English?

    – also, how good is your translation from Croatian to English? There is no way I can do it on my own, that’s just too many of it.

    – does your engine, or support, do all things that need to be done, or tell me what I need to do to make all of this work? I mean those things like making that subdomains, or how is it called /en for example. Also, that what needs to be done with yoast. I mean everything to guide me that starts working

    – could I get in trouble with google for some reason because of that multilanguage site? I mean, if you can translate all those languages in English almost at once, would that make some problems?

    – last, probably not it your interest to tell me the truth if it is not what I expect, but I will ask anyway. Is it even possible to rank that way? I have good standing in my country, bit that is probably nothing compared to big movie sites in US, but, I do have a lot of texts, and some potentionaly could rank, I am just not sure if they could this way

As you can see, I know nothing about that. So need some more clarification, but something simple, that I can understand.

    Thank you

    • Hello,
thank you for your interest in WPML and your questions.

      – first, is is possible to transfer at once all my posts (more then 5000). I would like some of them to rank, but I of course have no idea which one can really rank on US territory, that’s what I am after

When you enable the ATE editor in your WPML setup, you will be able to apply machine translations to your posts. Yes, we provide a bulk option (to translate multiple posts in one go).

      – second is about ranking. I see your plugin works good with Yoast. Can you tell me more about how it does SEO? Only by having texts on that language and what happens happens, or is there something more to it?

Our integration with SEO simply allows you to translate the strings you provide via Yoast. For example, you’ve used Yoast to provide meta titles and descriptions. Using WPML you can translate these strings.

      – can you tell me approximately at least, how much would it cost for me to get your engine and automatic translation for all my posts, pages, and everything else in English?

If you want to use the machine translation, here’s the pricing:
      https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/automatic-translation-pricing/

You can also use human translations coming from professional translation services but those are more expensive. Please check this page:
      https://wpml.org/translation-service/
and use the get a quote button to check their pricing

      – also, how good is your translation from Croatian to English? There is no way I can do it on my own, that’s just too many of it.

It is not our translation. The machine our ATE editor uses comes from the Azure’s MT engine. You can learn more about it here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/cognitive-services/translator/language-support

      – does your engine, or support, do all things that need to be done, or tell me what I need to do to make all of this work? I mean those things like making that subdomains, or how is it called /en for example. Also, that what needs to be done with yoast. I mean everything to guide me that starts working

When you install the WPML plugin our wizard will guide you through the initial setup. You can check it on this video:
      https://youtu.be/hkJziIU6mI8
Yes, the subdomains or subfolders for languages will be created automatically.
After the initial setup is done you can translate your content. You can do it manually, use machine translations or send to one of the professional translation services I mentioned.

      – could I get in trouble with google for some reason because of that multilanguage site? I mean, if you can translate all those languages in English almost at once, would that make some problems?

I don’t think so but I’m not a Google engine expert. For sure Google appreciates human-made translations.

For sure, making your site multilingual is a great way to promote your services/site in other countries. Using human-made translations is the best option but it’s also the most expensive one. You don’t need to translate everything at once. You can also use machine translations for some of your posts and human-made translation for others. That way you can check what proves to work best and then apply the best options for the posts.

If your site provides good quality content it will rank well, but often it takes time.

  4. Hello! I used to have my own account but transfered it.
If i buy again a 3domain account, could i just change the key to a domain and “transfer” it to my new account?

    Thank you!

    • Hello Angie,
Yes, you can buy a new subscription and then register the url. Note this will generate a new subscription key but you will be OK updating it on the site. Nothing will stop working while you do this.

      Best,

  5. Hi all,

I want to use Learndash in combination with WPML. We want to set up an international Learningplattform in different languages and we want to know if these points are possible with WPML?

    1. Could we use different Course Videos in different languages with WPML & Learndash?

    2. Can we set different prices in different currencies with WPML and Learndash?

    3. Can we use different domains ( Plattform.de, platform.us platform.com etc. in one Learndash and WordPress Installtion?

    BR and thank you
    Sebastian

  6. Hi dear team,

I would like to try a few features before purchasing the WPML plugin. Is there a way to have at least a 15-day trial or something similar? I want to be sure that everything work as expected and show a demo to my client.

    Thanks for letting me know.

    Best,

  7. Hi there,
I would like to ask about the difference in your Multilingual Blog and Multilingual CMS packages.
    – If I have DIVI, and purchase Multilingual Blog package, will I be able to manually translate my pages? I mean, as on your photos, click on the PLUS icon, and enter the words manually.

Also, wanted to ask what happens after 1 year. Only the support and updates stop, but I will be able to continue using the plugin in it’s state when my 1 year subscription expires? So it is not a subscription based plugin, all in all, I only need to renew if I want support and constant updates, correct?

    Thanks!
    Julia

    • One thing I’ve forgot!
Can I customise the menu where the flags are present? I want to have it aligned to the left and also include social media icons on the right, in the same line. Can be done?

    • Hi Julia, happy to help 🙂

I do not recommend using Divi with our Blog package, it’s really not our of trying to “sell” you a full package, it’s just that Divi & WPML are complex and have many features and the only way to have them work nicely together is using the full features of both. Yes after 1 year you will be able to use the plugin without updating but again I do not recommend this since, in the long run, we can not guarantee you will not have failures, security or performance issues – the fact is that WordPress itself and all of your plugins and your theme are constantly changing and the only way to have a stable website is keep updating the software you are using there.

  8. Hello,

I have a “Multilingual Agency” account but since currently I am only using the plugin in two sites, I would like to change to “Multilingual CMS”. Could you help me to switch?

    Thanks in advance. Best regards.

  9. hi there
I live in Canarias where we pay igic at 6,5% instead of Iva

can you help me in buying the plugin paying igic and not iva?

    thanks

  10. Hi’ WPML team
Got a few questions for you.

Our main website is in danish, and to begin with we are planning to add English as a second language. We can manage the English translations ourselves.

    My questions are:
    1. Can we then when done, use WPML to send the English translations to the translators and have them add more languages? Or does it only use the main language for this?
    2. When all languages are in place, can we then switch from url translation to the languages using different domains, with having to redo all sorts of things?
    3. Still issues with Divi 4 and image URL’s when using different domains?
    4. When we get an order, does WooCommerce send order received in the same language as the domain it was placed on?

    • Ciao David! Per scaricare la fattura, accedi al tuo account e sarai in grado di farlo dalla cronologia dei pagamenti e dalla pagina delle fatture

  11. Hello!
I am considering a purchase, but I would like some information first. I will try to be short.

As a developer, I want to build a multilingual online store with a blog section, that utilizes a decoupled architecture. I want to use a custom frontend framework in Vue.js in the frontend, and WordPress + Woocommerce in the backend.

Is your plugin suitable for me if :
    – I want to translate all the site content (headers, subheaders, navigation, products .. etc.)
    – I want to be able to input the translations manually per-item
    – This one is really important – I need to be able to pass the selected language as a parameter when calling both WP and Woo APIs for each of their content-related endpoints

If you believe the plugin is suitable, which edition would you recommend that I purchase?

Thank you for taking the time to help me!

    • Hello,
Thank you for your interest in WPML.

      – I want to translate all the site content (headers, subheaders, navigation, products .. etc.)
That’s possible but the details will depend on how your theme is coded, whether all strings you use have been localized (are translation ready)
      – I want to be able to input the translations manually per-item
      Yes, that’s possible.

I need to consult your last question with our developers to provide you with the best answer. I’ll keep you posted.

    • Turns out that what you’ve asked for is not possible. From our devs:

“We don’t have this functionality, at the moment and we are not planning to have it.

One functionality we are planning to have it a REST endpoint that returns the available translations (pairs of “language” and “ID”) of a given post.
That can be used to either build a language switcher in the front-end app or to easily request the translation of a given post.

Even if this functionality does not exist yet, an endpoint can be developed with some custom code by using the available PHP API in WPML.”

  12. Hello! I am being contracted to design a site for someone in both English and Spanish and I have two quick questions:

    1. Is it a problem that they have their own text? They are very picky and performed the translation themselves for both the navigation and content.

    2. We will be designing the site in X-Theme Pro (which both your site and theirs says is compatible) but looking at your product chart it says that the basic Multilingual Blog product ($29) does not include Page-Builders Support. Am I correct in assuming that they are referring to the type of page builders that are used in that theme? Basically, do I need to purchase the next level product to be able to use the page builders that are provided in X-Pro?

    • Hi Jon, in short:
      1. There’s no problem with having custom text, you can modify any string (text) your theme or plugin comes with as long as the theme and plugins follow standard WordPress quality of code
      2. You are correct, your project will need the Multilingual CMS package

  13. We paid for and tried out WPML in beta and we love it. Now we want to install it to our live site (www.sociocracyforall.org) but don’t want to pay double. Please advise.

We would like our 100,000 word translation credit to carry over as well.

    Thanks in advance.

    ~Andy

    • Hi Andy,
If you have the Multilingual CMS package you can install WPML on up to 3 sites without a problem, otherwise, you will need to upgrade. hope that helps.

      • Yes, Amit. I looked again at our account and realized I could set up multiple sites. Thanks.

My new problem is that my payment for machine translation isn’t going through even when I try more than one card. Is there another way to pay?

          • Hi Andy, I have looked at your ATE quota and it seems that you have made already purchase for a beta version of the site if you can merge that with the production one then you will be OK, otherwise you can try and purchase more words – we have checked and the payment seems to be working OK now. If you need more help please report that in our Support Forum so we can take a deeper look at what’s happening.

  14. Hello,

I have a client who wishes to have a multilingual site with some very specific requirements and I’m wondering if WPML will accomplish what I need.

The site needs to be translated into 5 different languages: English (default), German, French, Italian and Spanish.

The site will contain books and other literary works for which there are editions in different languages, e.g. the same book might be written originally in English, but also has a German edition, a French edition, a Polish edition, etc. This book could have up to 15 different languages, most of which will not be site languages. There also could be multiple editions in the same language, English first edition, English second edition, etc.

This is where it gets even trickier… If I’m browsing the site in English, I need to be able to visit the German edition of a book without the site language switching. When the user visits the German edition, they would see content in English. If the user is browsing the site in German, they will see German content.

This is at the crux of the issue because other plugins like Polylang do not allow this and according to their pre-sales team, I’m the only person in the history of ever to request this.

I believe that if the books custom post type is made available to all languages, I can accomplish what I need using custom meta fields, but I’m unsure about not switching the site language when visiting a translation.

Please let me know if this is possible and thank you for your time!

    • Hi Michael,
yes, indeed this is a tricky case.
Technically, the language switcher appears for pages/posts/posts based on custom post types if the translation exists. So let’s say you used a custom post type (Book) and then created your Book post in English, you site is available in English, French, German and Polish and translated this post to German and Polish. When you visit the book in English only Polish and German appear in your language switcher.

If you need anything extra, you need to handle some exceptions etc, you would need to code it manually.

WPML supports custom fields and custom post types. If you need to use custom fields and relationships to cross-linked your posts, you can also consider using our Toolset (the other product of our company), since we are fully compatible with WPML.

      • Thank you for your response. You mentioned this “When you visit the book in English only Polish and German appear in your language switcher.” What happens if you were to be browsing the site in German and you visit the same post in English? Would it automatically switch the site language to German?

  15. Can I have different homepage for different language?
Can I hide some products for different language? (e.g if site is in english language visitor can see some products, but if site is in france, some products to be hidden?)

    Ana

    • Can I have different homepage for different language?

      Yes, you can.

Can I hide some products for different language?

yes, you can. Simply don’t translate those products and they won’t appear.

  16. Is it possible to bulk upload a glossary? We’ve learned how to build the WPML glossary term-by-term and we like its utility.

We have a complete text-based glossary of significant terms used by our organization that includes — in English and Spanish— the terms and definitions. We’d love to be able to upload a CSV file and have the terms pop in place all at once rather than piece by piece.

    Please advise.

    ~Andy

  17. Hello!
I’m an external developer to a company and am assigned to prepare a relaunch of a website that is using WPML.

The dev system will not run under the same URL etc., how can I receive a full working copy of WPML for development purposes?

In the end the site will obviously move to it’s old URL again, but I will need a dev license for about 6 to 8 weeks.

What’s the plan in scenarios like this?

    Thanks and best regards!

    • Hello Florian,
thank you for your interest in WPML and your question. It works as follows: the person who buys WPML gets access to her WPML account where she can register her domain(s). Depending on the package you buy, you can have 1, 3 or an unlimited number of sites registered at a given time. Registering generates a unique key that you need to apply to your WordPress site (Plugins -> Add new -> Commercial tab). As long as your domain is registered you can access updates directly from your WordPress. You can also unregister and register the domains. If your client can register your domain for you, you don’t need to buy a separate WPML subscription. Maybe they have the Multilingual CMS package which allows them to register up to 3 domains and you can use one of those for your development. You can also buy WPML for yourself and use it for your other clients. I hope it will help you decide which scenario will work best for you. If you still have questions, don’t hesitate to ask me.

    • Hello, http and https are considered two different domains. You (or your customer would need to delete the key and regenerate a new one). You need to log into your (or customer’s) WPML account and go to Sites. Then grab the new key and on your WP site, go to plugins -> add new -> Commercial and paste it there.

  18. Hi,
my name is Matt, I work for the non-profit organisation bridgebuilder.eu . We support political and social activists with their projects. I wanted to apply for a free non-profit WPML license, but I realized that the following link does not work anymore:
    http://wpml.org/purchase/non-profits/
Can you send me a free license code / account?
    Thank you very much,
    Matt

  19. I would like to purchase your plugin but I need to know if it would work with the plugin participants dataabse, which will be the core of the website I am developing.
Thnak you to let me know.
