  1. Hello, i have a Pre-sales question, i have build a site on the Betheme Theme, is a simple site build with the BeTheme builder, now, i wana have English language, what plan do i need to buy ? is oki Multilingual Blog ? Thank you

  2. Hi again,
If I have a Wp multi-site, serving different content to differed countries can WPML overlay this and provide a translation within a country.
So for example for our Hong Kong site in its folder .com/hk can we then add another level with English and Mandarin translated versions?
    Thank you, Rich

    • If .com/hk is a subsite of your WordPress Multisite site, yes, you can have a few languages (e.g. English and Mandarin) within this subsite.

  3. I had a site I developed years ago with WPML CMS. I just bought another license to build a new site with WPML blog on a different domain, but when I go to generate the site key it tells me “your account only allows you to build one site with WPML”.

Does this mean I have to delete the old site from my site list first? Will doing so affect/damage what has already been built on that other site from years ago?

    • Hello,
the CMS package allows you to register 1, 2, or 3 domains. The Blog package only one. But you can register and unregister your domain as many times as you want, provided you have an active WPML subscription. Registering/unregistering domains doesn’t delete your plugins.

Please go to your WPML account, then to “Register WPML on your sites” and you will see a list of your domains on which WPML is registered. You will see a trash icon for each. You can use it to delete it. What it does, it unregisters your domain but won’t delete your WPML plugin. Then you can register your domain again with a new key. It can be a new domain or the same one. Please note that you need to have an active WPML subscription to register new domains. Once your domain is registered, you need to grab your key, go to your WP site, plugins > Add new > Commercial and put the key there.

      I hope it helps.

  4. Hi,

Is it possible to just translate a few pages, products, cart page etc..

I have a site with over 4000 products, 200 pages, but it will only be a few pages and 20 products that will need to be translated, along with cart / checkout.

Can i select just a few pages or can i add the language selector shortcode to a header that will only appear on those pages / products?

    Thanks!

    • Hello,
Yes, you can translate only some of your products but in this case, you need to decide what should happen for the products, you don’t want to translate. WPML provides you a few options:
      1. You can display untranslated products in your original language
      2. You can display the language switcher only for products that are translated (Skip language)
      3. You can display the language switcher for all your products but link to home of language for missing translations

  5. Hi Agnes,

How does the translating of products work? Would I need to create duplicates of the products or is it an option on the page that the user can select and it changes everything?

Is this the same for pages also, would i need to duplicate them or do they work in that you can translate that page from a selection?

    Thanks!

  6. Hi,
I would like to know how the plugin functions. I do not understand if the website needs to be translated by a translator.

    Thanks for your help
    Daniela

  7. Hello, I would like to know if i am going to have different sites for the client to do QA and UAT process and only one is for production environment. Do i need to purchase multiple License or use “Multilingual CMS” for this situation?
    Many thanks.

    • Hello,
how WPML works now (4.4.10), registration is needed to receive automatic updates for WPML on your WordPress site. Without registration, your WPML plugins will work but you won’t be able to update them to new versions directly from your update screen (only manually). So you don’t need to purchase the Agency package for your case.

    • Chris, one more thing. As of WPML 4.5, we will allow users to register development/production sites without sacrificing another key but I don’t have any details on how exactly this will work. But the bottom line is, now or later, you don’t need to buy a more expensive package only because you have a separate testing environment.

  8. Me esta llegando un mensaje que dice que tengo que pagar unas traducciones que no he solicitado,, pero me llega un correo cada día,,, y no se porque. pero me gustaría que dejara de llegar ese correo

  9. Hi,

I am working on a project using Dokan and WooCommerce of course. Just wonder if WPML is compatible with Dokan. Saw some previous discussions that there were integration problem. Do I need to download WooCommerce multilingual as well?

Besides, I don’t have 3 projects that I need to use WPML. I suppose I don’t have a choice if I need it for WooCommerce?

    Please advise.

    Thanks.

  10. Hi there.
We purchased the plugin (for 3 sites), but we only registered it on 1 site.
I tried to log in with the email address on the invoice, and tried to request password reset, and didn’t work…

Can you please help with how I can recover the license/registration code?

    • Jared, there are no records in our system with the email you submitted this comment with. Do you remember which email you used when purchasing WPML? Or maybe you have your order number? You are saying that you tried to reset your password. Which email address did you use to do so? If the same email you posted this comment with, it won’t work because there is no user in our system with this email. I’m filing a request to our admins to find your record by the invoice number but this will take a while so if you could remember your other email address or the order number, it would be great.

    • Hello, Thank you. The WPML account is registered with paul at techmatters.org. We can reset the password but the new one will come to that email of paul. Please let me know if you can log in with the email I mentioned.

  11. hello,
We have purchased a “Multilingual CMS for life” perpetual license.
If you add a site and enter the site key
I keep getting an error saying that the key is not valid for the current site.

    What’s the problem?

For reference, the purchase account ID is yoons-2.

    • Hello, yes, you have the Lifetime account and it’s active so you should be able to add register unlimited number of domains. Please try the following: unregister the site and register again with the same key. If it doesn’t help, please log into your WPML account, delete the current domain and generate a new key, then go to your site and register it again with a new key. If it doesn’t help either, please open a ticket on our support forum and our supporters will look into your site to see why it’s not working.

  12. Hello, I was wondering if there is any way that could help with the following if I buy the Multilingual CMS. We maintain a website with Woocommerce which has around 4500 products. We want to translate all products (including descriptions) & categories through php code retrieving the translations from a database. Is it possible to insert and/or update the wordpress’s DB fields tied to WPMLs translations programmatically, so all products & categories are translated automatically?
    thank you

    • Are you interested in machine translations? Instead of trying to write complex code for this what about if you wait for WPML 4.5 (beta should be ready any day now) which will allow you to translate the whole site automatically.

  13. Hi there.

We don’t have anyone by the name of Paul, and we are not associated with techmatters.org.

How is it possible that we have purchased this plugin, and now it doesn’t exist and belongs to someone else?

  14. Hi, no I am not really interested in machine translations because the products are for the agriculture industry and I think our client won’t be satisfied with machine translations. Aside from machine translations which might prove useful, will I get support to achieve my task programmatically? I need to know if that is possible and what level of difficulty, for example if I have to update many tables etc.
    thank you

    • Thank for the details Kostas but what I don’t understand is why you want to do some work programmatically? You can edit machine translations and you can also apply your own translations (and don’t need to use machine translations at all). If you are interested in any custom programming work, please specify how exactly you want it to work. How you imagine your workflow. I will pass it on to our developers to check if this is possible and if they can give you some programming hints (such as which API to use). Thank you.

  15. Hi. I have a website in ukraine (web store on woocommerce) that was created first on a ukrainian lang. Than I decided to add second laguage (russian). I used free version of polylang plugin and some additional plugin to work woocommerce correctly on a second langauge. Now I have some problems with compatibility of the plugin and theme (or with other plugin, don’t know actually) and want to buy a good plugin to avoid many problems.
Here is the question. I have translated about 1k products on second language. They have their own urls but they have connection with products on default language (ukrainian). What happens when I delete polylang and buy/install your plugin? I will have to reconnect this products again manually? One by one? Same quastion about the categories.
Looking forward to your answer. Thahks.

  16. Hello again,
    So my goal is
    1) read all English translations for each product and product category from a client’s DB and turn it into JSON(websites language is Greek)
    2) using the JSON file create/update a translation to each product and categories through php code (using a cron job) by inserting/updating woocommerce Database values

The question is if is it possible to access wpml’s API or tables, table fields or even functions so I can automate the translation process. I dont think Machine translations is a good fit because the Greek descriptions used in the products are not common words and I expect a low success rate.

The number of products is around 4500 and categories are around 250. This makes correcting machine translations a very time consuming task, and our client needs this process to be automated and not done by hand, so when they change an English value on their database it will be reflected to the website.
    thanks

    • Hello Kostas,
Thank you for providing more details.
Before answering your questions, let me check if I understand your setup and goals correctly:
      1. Your site is in Greek.
      2. It includes 4500 products and 250 categories.
      3. You want to make this site available in English.
      4. Eventually you want your products to appear in English.
      5. You don’t want to translate these products directly on your site but instead, you will have an external database with English translations of your products. I don’t know where these external translations come from but we should assume you will already have them. Is this correct?
      6. Now, what you need is a way to “transfer” these external translations to your WordPress site using WPML. And you plan to code it yourself, writing some custom code (in PHP perhaps) and you are looking for some hints which WPML APIs you could use. Besides transferring initial translations, you also plan to have a script that will update the translations whenever the external database changes.

Is this more or less correct?

If so, please note that instead of manually programming this interface, you can use existing migration plugins:
      https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/wpml-all-import-plugin-website-import-with-wpml/
Please note that to deal with WooCommerce products you will also need a paid addon: https://www.wpallimport.com/woocommerce-product-import/

      So this is one option.

Another option is to wait for WPML 4.5 (beta will be ready any day now, so you could test it soon), which can translate all your products automatically and you don’t need to click anything – the process is run in the background. You just need to decide if you want someone to review this automated translation and we also prepared a special workflow to make it super easy for translation reviewers. T

But if you still want to handle the migration and updates yourself by wringing custom code, here are our APIs:
      https://wpml.org/documentation/support/wpml-coding-api/
and here you will see our tables look like: https://wpml.org/documentation/support/wpml-tables/

Supporting custom programming is beyond the scope of our support work. We don’t have any docs covering how to read all English translations from your external database and turn it into JSON which you could then read to update WPML tables. I can ask our programmers if they can give some general hints but I need ot make sure that I understood your requirements and plans correctly.

    • All WPML accounts include the Polylang-to-WPML migration plugin but most of our clients buy the CMS package to use other features such as string translations, media translation etc. that are not available in the Blog package.

  17. Hello)
Can your plugin translate a dashboard of other plugins?
    For example :
    MonsterInsights – Google Analytics Dashboard
    Thanks

    • Hello,
WPML is not a plugin to translate plugins/themes. For this you need a plugin such as Loco Translate. WPML is a plugin that helps you make your site multilingual, meaning you translate your site’s content on the backend and it appears in 2 or more languages on the front-end.

  18. Hi,

I have a couple of questions:

    1. I will create a series of different woocommerce installations under the same domain (legal issues), but in different subdomains. Do I need separate license for each?

    2. If I require further licenses than the CMS package, can I upgrade to the Agency package (paying the whatever difference) or I purchase the Agency from scratch? When I renew the Agency package, can I transfer the website on CMS to this and cancel CMS or have to maintain both?

    Thank you

    • Hello Michael,
      1. If these subdomains are part of your WordPress Multisite site, you need to register only the top domain, which means using one registration key. If your subdomains are separate WordPress installs, you will need as many keys as the number of your subdomains.
      2. Yes, you can but the CMS package at first and then upgrade to the Agency package paying the whatever difference so you don’t need to maintain two WPML accounts, you need only one.

  19. Hello,

We would like to translate our current country-specific content in English into a country-specific second language. For example, any page talking about Canada apples (in English), we would translate it into a French version only, or a page about Swiss chocolate would be translated into Swiss German and no other language, etc

Just to recap, all our current posts are in English, and each post will be translated into a second language relevant to the country the post is about. This means each post will be in only 2 versions, English, and an additional second local language.

Is this a functionally WPML is able to support?

  20. Hi Mercedes,

Regarding your reply about using Dokan, you said that “To translate your WooCommerce site you will need the CMS version. WCML comes included in this package”. What is WCML?
    Do you mean WPML?

The Dokan link that you sent me said that I need 5 extensions:
    Sitepress Multilingual
    WooCommerce Multilingual
    WPML Translation Management
    WPML Media
    WPML String Translation

    Really?

    • Hello,

WCML is the WooCommerce Multilingual that helps you translate your WooCommerce products. It’s included in the CMS package.
Yes, you need all these 5 plugins.

  21. I just paid with PayPal. The transaction total was wrong. I couldn’t contact PayPal. My bank said the payment was authorized. I couldn’t download either. Please provide a provide email/contact for communication. I need to resolve this asap.

    Thanks.

  22. Hello, I have a question regarding a language that it’s not included. Is it possible to add a language (Norwegian – Sami) and if so how?
