Hello,I would like to delete the account linked to the email address used for this post.
Since I am not authorized to ask questions in the forum already, I will ask them here.
Hello,
Yes, you have a WPML account that expired in 2023. Of course you can send us a request to delete the account. Please do so by using this form: https://wpml.org/home/contact-us/contact-form/ It will go to the person who handles such cases. Here, in pre-sales questions you can ask me general questions related to WPML features and pricing. To answer technical questions, you need to use our support forum but you have to have an active WPML account.
Hi, I want to ask you about purchase. I am making a website for a customer, and this customer has his own company in Ukraine. Could you issue an invoice for this company? (ТОВ УманьХімТрейд Україна (his company))
Hello,
When purchasing WPML you can provide the data of your client instead of yours and use your card/PayPal. For us, it doesn’t matter. You can also edit the data that will appear on your invoice from your WPML account.
I need to update the website casadoncarlos.com to the latest versions of the WPML plugins. I didn’t make this website so I’m unsure which plugins I need to purchase from you.
I can’t add attachments, so I’ll try it this way. This is the list of WPML plugins on the website:
Plugin name Status Active Version
WPML Multilingual CMS Installed Yes 3.4.1
WPML String Translation Installed Yes 2.3.9
What do I need to purchase and is it possible to upgrade from these very old versions?
Hello,
You need to purchase the Multilingual CMS package in this case. Your site uses very old versions and before your update the plugins, please open a ticket on our support forum for some guidelines on how to update. Updating from such an old version is possible but needs to be done gradually – our technical supporters will share the details.
Hi there, I want to purchase the WPML plugin but the standard credit card processing says the card is declined (which is false because I use this card every day). The Paypal option requires a lengthy sign up, including national ID uploads and I don’t want to provide Paypal this as I have had bad experiences with them in the past and have deleted all my Paypal accounts. You should be able to have a Paypal payment option where an account is not required, but it seems you have not enabled this. I genuinely want to purchase your plugin, but am stuck at the point of payment. Please advise.
Hello,
I can see that your order has completed successfully so I consider your questions obsolete. If you have any questions related to your order/subscription please use this contact form. Thank you for purchasing WPML.
Hello, My comment / email disappeared so apologies if you have received this twice. I am trying to purchase the plug-in, but the credit card option declines my card (not sure why as it is valid and funded and I use it every day). The Paypal option requires an account, which I don’t want to set up (as it requires uploading personal documents). I would just like to purchase the plug-in with my valid credit card. Is there another way? Much thanks, Lee.
Your previous comment was waiting for moderation. I have just replied. Everything seems to be fine with your subscription. You should received an email with credential. If you didn’t receive it, please use this link to reset your password: https://wpml.org/account/lost-my-password/
Is is possible to get an older version of the plug-in. I removed WPML Multilingual CMS from our site and it has caused all the text to disappear. Version 3.2.7 was the version that we were using before i uninstalled it. I dont have an account as the website domain was done by an external developer.
Hello,
It’s not possible to get any version of WPML plugins without having access to a WPML account. If you are no longer in touch with your developer, you would need to buy WPML again for yourself or you can hire a new developer: https://wpml.org/contractors/
Please note that WPML version 3.2.7 is a very old version and it’s no longer safe to use it with the current WordPress version.
Is there documentation on uninstalling WPML? I’ve restored the plug in from a backup but if i remove WPML it removes all the text on each page across our site.
I am intending to use the automatic translation feature and was wondering. Once I have used up all the credits on translation and I change a paragraph. Do I need to buy new credits for this edited paragraph or can I reuse the previously assigned credits since I have removed the previous paragraph and replaced it with a new one. Let me know.
Hello,
WPML uses translation credits whenever it has to translate something new, which means, something that hasn’t been translated yet. In the case you described, WPML will need to use translation credits if the sentence after your edit hasn’t been translated before, which is very likely. For example, your original text is “We provide full support for our product”. You translate it, credits will be used. Then, you update the original text to “We provide full support for our premium products”. Since WPML didn’t translate such a sentence in the past, it will use translation credits again.
Example #2. Your original test was “Buy now”, you translated it. Then you update it to “Buy and download”. WPML checks the new text in its Translation Memory and this time it turns out that such a text string was translated in the past but for a different page of your site. In this case, Translation Memory will be applied and no credits will be used. So if you have 100 occurrences of “Buy and download” on your site, in diffrent places, the translation credits will be used only once. I hope this helps.
Hello, we currently use translatepress on our website and are interested in migrating to WPML. Is there a simple way to migrate our existing translations over to WPML?
Hello Tomas,
Thank you for your interest in WPML. I’m sorry to say it but there is no way to migrate your existing translations from TranslatePress to WPML. These two plugins use totally different approach to translate websites and you need to translate everything from scratch using WPML I’m afraid. Of course, there is always the possibility to manually copy-paste some of your translations but that would be a tedious job and now what you are asking about.
Thanks for your response to this query. So in order to save the credits from unnecessarily being used up, would you suggest that the website should be translated as the last step when all the content has been added and confirmed to be the final copy before translation? It seems to me doing translations as the content is added is not wise as any sentence edits to correct errors etc would result in credit use which would be a waste if the content is undergoing a lot of edits initially. Do you have documentation on the best practises to save credits and go further with the credits you have available?
Hello Alex,
We don’t have any specific documentation on the best practises to save credits but I can share a few hints with you now:
a) start with only two languages (you can add more languages later)
b) select the so-called “Let me choose what to translate” mode (more about it in a few minutes)
c) don’t assign all of your 90 000 credits but start with – say – 10 000 – to see how it goes
d) translate a page or two and visit the WPML > Translation Management > Tools tab to control the remaining credits
e) go to WPML > Translation management and when selecting pages/posts/product to translate observe how many words they contain (you will see the word count at the bottom of the Translation management table as explained here). If you see pages that have too many words, don’t translate them automatically for now. Be careful with pages such as “Terms of use”, “Cookies” and all sorts of policies. These pages are usually long. You can even consider translating them manually by copy-pasting from Google Translate or DeepL (the online editors). For these you would need to disable the WPML translation editor and use the WordPress editor (we have an option to do so, explained here)
f) when you run out of the free translation credits, you can consider using the Pay-as-you-go option. It allows you to use 2000 credits for free each month.
WPML provides two translation mode:
a) Translate Everything Automatically
b) Let me choose what to translate
Option “b” allows you to translate automatically as well but in a controlled way – you can select which of your posts, pages, products etc to translate. What you can consider doing is choose option “b” and translate a few of your pages, these you know they won’t change.
This will allow you to see how WPML works without risking too many credits.
I hope this helps.
Hello,
Thank you for purchasing WPML.
Do you mean WPML is not working with the YITH Auctions for WooCommerce Premium plugin? In your message you said ” but it is still working.” and that’s why I’m confused.
We are compatible with this plugin but there can be different reason why that’s not the case on your website. For example in case of this user they had a conflict with “Product Data Tabs” widget of Elementor Pro. That’s why one of our technical experts needs to check your specific problem. Please open a ticket on our support forum and describe your issue. First, you need to log into your WPML account. Then you might need to go through some questions but eventually you will get in touch with a human, someone from our support team who will help you. https://wpml.org/forums/forum/english-support/

I purchased the “Multilingual CMS” plugin last Friday, June 14th, and the charge has been successfully processed on my card. However, I haven’t received any confirmation emails (I checked my Spam folder as well), and the plugin is not available for download in the “Downloads” section of my account.

Hello,
In our system you order if not completed and that’s why you didn’t receive the welcome email. My colleague Mercedes is checking how it could happen that as you say the charge has been successfully processed on your card. She will contact you directly via email. Expect an email from Hello WPML soon.
I’d like to test the plugin to see if its compatible with my site. I tried your competitor’s plugin, and though it said “compatible” for my wordpress version, its screwed up my menus and text. How can I test this plugin, without getting stuck with the purchase price if it doesn’t work?
Thanks,
Brad
Hello Brad,
You can buy a WPML license and receive a 100% refund for your WPML subscription within 30 days of your purchase date if it is not the right tool for your project.

Dear support. I have a customer who has an active license on his website but as he stopped working with an agency that bought the license, he cannot ask for the plain text license to use it on the new website we are making.
Is there a way to copy the actual license of the active website in order to have it active on the new website that is going to replace the old one without having to ask the previous agency? It will be on the same domain
Hello Federico,
No, I am afraid you will need a new key to register the new site, and for this, you will need an active subscription.
If your client has no account, you/your client can purchase directly from our Purchase page https://wpml.org/purchase/
But there is a license already for that website. I just need to reinstall the plugin as a fresh install on a new wordpress, but as it is the same domain as before the license is still valid. I’m just looking on a way to transfer the license from the old site to the new one without having to re-type it as I don’t have it in clear text
You cannot copy paste the registering keys between websites because WPML keeps it as a pair: website_domain+key. That’s why you (or your client) needs to buy a new subscription.
I have a booking website with the original language being English and the secondary language being Greek. I am facing an issue where I would like the translation plugin to translate, for example, the title of a property from Greek to English, and if the property title is originally in English, to translate it in Greek.
Is this possible in general? If so, can it be done with your plugin?
I am looking forward to your response. Thank you in advance for your help!
Hello,
You used the word “property” (“for example, the title of a property from Greek to English”) in your question.
I guess you use a plugin to manage properties because in WordPress there are posts and pages and there are no properties by default. So you would need to check if the plugin is compatible with WPML by checking this page: https://wpml.org/plugin/ or share the name of your plugin (or theme) for properties with us and we will check it for you. Then we can tell you if you can translate your properties.
Hello,
yes, you need the Multilingual CMS for 99 EUR. For additional credits you have two options, both explained on this page: https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/automatic-translation-pricing/ – there is an interactive calculator in the “How much does automatic translation cost?” section at the bottom, please test it out.
The Pay-as-you-go option is cheeper. You can decide which credits option to use later on because when you buy WPML, you will get 90 000 translation credits.
That makes sense, but as the website_domain is going to be the same actually also the key is going to be working on the new website.
I make an example:
The website is google.com, and it has an active WPML license.
I have to redesign the website for my customer, and once it is completed is going to become google.com as before. So the license is the same.
The only issue here is that google.com has been made by an agency and the customer doesn’t have contact with them in order to ask back the active license. That’s why I would like to keep it on the new designed website (as it is the same licensed domain)
Hello Federico,
If your client doesn’t have access to the account which was used to register WPML on their site, I am afraid we cannot share the key.
They would need to contact their old agency.
Alternatively, they can ask them to transfer the renewal link for their site only, so that they have their own accont purchased, with a special price for end-users. This way they will be able to recive updates and support for the url for which the renewal link is transferred.
90000 translation credits mean 45000 words are covered for DL Translation. Hope my understanding is correct. So if I have to go live with complete website covered and ready, then I will need to buy a pack to cover the remaining 30000 words (my site is about 75000 words). Is my understanding correct?
Hello Jose,
The maths would be:
75,0000 words to 3 languages (Japanese, German and Swedish)= 225,000 words
If you use DeepL, it’s 2 credits/word. You would need a total of 450,000 credits.
You can use the 90,000 credits included in your CMS purchase and then translate the rest using one our alternative payment options for automatic translation, as mentioned by my colleague Agnes https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/automatic-translation-pricing/
Hello Melissa,
Do you mean the language switcher from Goolge translate?
It will not be displayed on your site. Only WPML’s language switcher will be displayed

Hi
I am taking our new website live soon and want to include translation for Japanese, German and Swedish.
My site has about 75,000 words.
When we go live we would like to have all content ready for all 3 markets.
What plan should I buy? Should I buy Multi-lingual CMS for EUR99 and automatic translation credits (pay as you go or bulk)?
Thanks for your guidance.
Jose
Hello,
yes, you need the Multilingual CMS for 99 EUR. For additional credits you have two options, both explained on this page: https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/automatic-translation-pricing/ – there is an interactive calculator in the “How much does automatic translation cost?” section at the bottom, please test it out.

Hi Agnes
Thank you for responding.
You can use the 90,000 credits included in your CMS purchase and then translate the rest using one our alternative payment options for automatic translation, as mentioned by my colleague Agnes
https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/automatic-translation-pricing/
Thank you,
Is there a way to remove the Google Translate so that there are not 2 translation buttons on the website?
Hello Melissa,
Do you mean the language switcher from Goolge translate?
It will not be displayed on your site. Only WPML’s language switcher will be displayed
