Hi! Is it possible to mix domain per language & subdirectories? Like domain.fi and domain.ee/en. I know that you have previously replied that it’s not possible, but has anything changed? Does it need custom coding? Has anyone done it? Thanks!
Hello Madis,
I’m afraid it is still the case and it is not possible. So far, I’m not aware of any client working with a similar structure, but yes, it would need complex custom code in order to be done.

1) My client would like to use DeepL engine, but also requested Swahili (unavailable on DeepL). Is it possible to use different engines per language translation required?
2) How does licensing work for non-prod subdomains (e.g., stage.domain.com)?
Hello,
1. Yes, They can use the Google Translate or Microsoft’s translation engine, please check this table: https://ate.wpml.org/mt_langs
2. When you buy the CMS package you can register 3 production sites and in addition 9 development sites (12 sites in total)
My website has 400,000 words approx I believe, how do I go about getting a package for this? And what will the cost be for translation? Similarly what is the rolling cost per month?
You pay for the translation credits only when you translate something for the first time. Then, the translations are saved. You will need credits only for newly-added content or for updated sentences.
This calculator will help you to estimate the price: https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/automatic-translation-pricing/#simulate-your-translation-price
Translating 400 000 to one language (using DeepL or Google) will cost €302.00 EUR.
Translating 400 000 to one language using the Microsoft’s translation engine will cost €182.00 EUR.
My cookie banner is complaining over the lack of destination on the WMPL browser redirect, meaning that it does not see me as compliant. How can this be fixed?
Hello Victor, I’m sorry but I don’t undestand the issue you are describing. Are you describing an issue with your specific website? If so, please use our support channel to get technical help: https://wpml.org/forums/forum/english-support/
If this is something about the behaviour about the Cookie banner on this site (wpml.org), please provide more details so I can better understand the problem. Thank you.
My cookie banner is complaining over the lack of destination on the WMPL browser redirect, meaning that it does not see me as compliant. How can this be fixed?
Our WP website uses WPBakery page builder and is highly customized with lots of custom elements and templates.
Is there a way to test this plugin to see if it’s compatible with our website and to determine which package we need?
Can we manually select which pages/languages to spend allocated credits on?
Hello,
You need the Multilingual CMS package to use WPML on a WPBakery-powered website. You can buy WPML keeping our refund policy in mind which allows you to test the plugin (and use our support assistance) for 30 days: https://wpml.org/purchase/refunds/
If you want to translate only some of your pages automatically, please do the following: select “Let me translate what I choose” mode and also, when opening the translation editor you can disable the automatic translation (top left corner of the editor). This way the credits will be used under your control and only for pages you want to translate automatically. Of course you can translate other pages manually.
My cookie platform is saying that in order for the cookie that I get from using the language plugin to be compliant, it needs to have a country stated. Where most have one, for the “cookie wpml_browser_redirect_test” we are just getting unknown, thus it is non compliant.
Here is the list of Cookie plugins compatible with WPML: https://wpml.org/plugin-functionality/cookies/
Is your plugin on that list? Please note that there are 4 recommended plugins and 4 other plugins hat also work with WPML.
What is your plugin name? If your plugin is on that list, do you mean that it doesn’t work if the WPML feature regarding the browser redirection is enabled?
Victor, in my previous reply I pasted the wrong link by mistake (copy-paste issue).
I was supposed to shared this link: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/automatic-redirect-based-on-browser-language/
when mentioning the redirection feature we provide.
In your last comment you mentioned “cookie wpml_browser_redirect_test” and I was not sure if you were referring to that feature of WPML. If you are an existing WPML client, it would be best to use our support channel to sort out your issue. Here in pre-sales question section, I can reply to some general questions, for example about compatibility with some plugins. If you use a specific Cooky plugin and if you are not sure if it’s compatible with WPML, please share the name of the plugin. Thank you.
Just to clarify my previous inquiry (the site “reply” won’t let me reply): we can use multiple translation engines to cater to specific languages (i.e., MS/Google for Swahili, DeepL for the rest)? Or is it one engine only for all languages? Thanks!
Please take a look at this screen, coming from this page. This is what you will see in WPML settings. If a specific language from this list is not supported by the first translation engine on your list (let’ say DeepL), WPML will try to apply the next engine from your list of settings, for example Google. If Google is not supported either, WPML will apply the Microsoft engine. So for Swahili with the order of translation engines as on the screenshot (which of course you can change) Swahili will be translate by Google because DeepL is not supported. If you have Swahili and French on your site, DeepL will be used for French and Google for Swahili. Of course you can disable DeepL completely and then Google will be used for French and Swahili. Hope it helps.
I have one page in English and a separate page in Spanish. Can WPML automatically redirect to the correct page based on the browser’s language setting?
We are a news website. On an average, we carry 30000 words on our website per month. This amounts to 360000 words per year. Currently, we use the free Gtranslate plugin to translate our content automatically in 4 languages. Please answer the following queries and suggest us a solution for our requirement.
How will it benefit us to opt for your service?
What is the accuracy percentage of the automatic translation?
Is there a possibility to provide a free 30-day trial version?
Hello,
Thank you for your interest in WPML. WPML is a very robust plugin compared to Gtranslate. It provides a whole Translation Management system. You can add translators to your site and assign them jobs to translate. Your translators can use automatic translation as well. WPML allows you to translate your URLs as well (the slugs). WPML prepares your site well for search engines such as Google.
Currently WPML allows you to translate automatically using four translation engines: DeepL, Google, Microsoft and WPML AI (which is based on the same technology as ChatGPT) This calculator will help you estimate your costs: https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/automatic-translation-pricing/#frequently-asked-questions For instance, translating 30 000 words to one language using the DeepL engine will cost you about 37 euros.
The translation quality depends on the a few factors:
1. Glossary used (WPML allows you to build your own glossary, for example, you can tell WPML not to translate some names or translated them in a specific way)
2. The languages you translate to – please check which translation engines are supported: https://ate.wpml.org/mt_langs
3. The quality of your original texts.
If you are happy with the online translations provided by DeepL, you will be even more happy when using WPML because WPML will handle all the WordPress stuff for you: formatting (bolding, italics), translation of internal links, slugs etc.
> Is there a possibility to provide a free 30-day trial version?
Officially we don’t provide any demos because each site is different. I don’t know much about your site. Do you use any specific page builder? What is your theme? Please let me know and I can see what we can do for you. Or you can buy WPML keeping our refund policy in mind.
Hello,
we don’t have lifetime packages but renewals are optional. You can cancel your WPML subscription (or switch to manual renewals) and still use the plugins. In this case you will lose access to updates and our support channel.
1.Iif my main domain will be .com, I will translate the site to .pl and add prefixes to the rest i.e. fr.mydomain.com for example, do I always manage the site from 1 wordpress installation? My client want to set different prices for some countries.
2. if I buy other premium plugins do I have to have separate licenses for each domain? (if I use country prefix instead of new domain I need to buy it too?) How does this work?
2. if I have a woocommerce store + elementor and there built a single product page, do I translate the product page once, and then the auto-translation credits are used only for translation of product descriptions? Product attributes, prices, are changing dynamically. I have about 4000 products and it seems that translating everything will be expensive, and I’m trying to calculate how many words I need to translate.
We would like to inquire about the AI tool’s translation process. Specifically, when using the tool, will the translations be applied instantly, or is there a staging phase before they go live?
Additionally, could you please provide an overview of the process for how the AI tool handles translations?
Hello,
You can select the review before publish option if you want to review the automatic translation before publishing translated posts and pages. WPML uses 4 translation engines, all are listed here: https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/automatic-translation-pricing/#what-is-a-credit
And here is the list of supported languages for each: https://ate.wpml.org/mt_langs
DeepL is considered one of the best translation engines in the world. WPML AI uses the same technology as ChatGPT and is also great (some of our clients think its even better than DeepL) but it is still in beta.
Hello there,
– Regarding the Multilingual Agency package is it limited to using it on up to 25 sites as it’s showing on the comparison page or it can be used for more than 25. At the pricing page says Unlimited Websites.
– Also, about the (Advanced Translation Editor) saying it’s limited to (180k Translation Credits). What’s happening when I reach that number. Is it adding as extra bill needed to be paid in the account or it’s stops translating.
As the plugin will be used on different clients, is there a way to limit the option for Automatic Translation for specific one as this 180k credits could be spent only from one website?
Hello,
The Multilingual Agency package can be used on an unlimited number of websites.
You can distribute the 180 000 credits among diffrent sites. You can add and take back credits to any of your websites at anytime. If you run out of the free credits you can sign up for Pay-as-you or buy packages of credits. Pay-as-you-go is cheaper and this calculator will help you understand how much you will pay: https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/automatic-translation-pricing/#simulate-your-translation-price

Hello,
Yes, that’s correct. You can purchase the Multilingual CMS subscription and upgrade o the Multilingual Agency at any time and you will pay the difference between those two packages. You will find that upgrade option on your WPML account.
Which languages come default with this plugin? I’ve already asked a question about whether or not this plugin comes with a language selector for the page and that was answered here (https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/language-switcher-options/) thank you. But I need to know if the available languages on the page will be beyond French and Spanish.
I just bought the multlingual cms plugin, but I filled in a wrong email address. So I don,t receive the email to activate the plugin. How can we solve this.

Hello Max,
WPML is a WordPress plugin and integrates with other WordPress plugins. The only Google Merchant-related plugin WPML is compatible with is WooCommerce Google Product Feed https://wpml.org/plugin/woocommerce-google-product-feed/
If you have a different integration in mind, it won’t work I’m afraid.
I have a website project that I would like to have translated into English. The project consists of 60 pages. Once these pages have been translated, there will be no need for future translations, as no additional pages will be added.
Would it be possible to start with the larger package, which includes translation credits, and then, after one year, downgrade to a smaller package? Ideally, I would like to move to the smallest package that does not include any translation credits.
Hello Robert,
I understand you mean downgrade from CMS to Blog? In this case you will stop receiving updates for several modules, since the Blog version includes the core CMS plugin and the Media translation plugins. It doesn’t include the other plugins. https://wpml.org/documentation/wpml-core-and-add-on-plugins/
Thank Agnes for reply.
I am currently using Woocommerce with google plugin – Google for WooCommerce, this is standard setup and working perfectly fine.
So are you saying that WPML will no longer with google plugin – Google for WooCommerce.
I will have to use WooCommerce Google Product Feed Plugin for google merchant, This costs extra $79 per year?
WPML $99 + $79 = $179 per year?

Hello Max,
WPML is a WordPress plugin and integrates with other WordPress plugins. The only Google Merchant-related plugin WPML is compatible with is WooCommerce Google Product Feed https://wpml.org/plugin/woocommerce-google-product-feed/
If you have a different integration in mind, it won’t work I’m afraid.
Hello Max,
No, I didn’t mean that you had to use the WooCommerce Google Product Feed Plugin plugin. In your previous comment you didn’t mention any specific plugin and I wasn’t sure what you meant by integration with “Google merchant” so I shared a plugin from our list of compatible plugins that is related to this topic. If I confused you, sorry about that.
Thank you for explaining that what you meant by integration with Google merchant is the Google for WooCommerce plugin. Now, I have the conrete plugin name and I can tell you more about it. So I believe you have this plugin in mind: https://wordpress.org/plugins/google-listings-and-ads/ Is this correct?
If so, what I can see is that WPML was not tested for compatibility with this plugin by our Compatibility Team. Any WooCommerce-related plugins should be checked by our team to consider them WPML-ready. In practice, any WooCommerce add-on requires a special integration to work with WPML. In other words, it’s very likely that WPML won’t work as expected when used with Google for WooCommerce. Unfortunately.
The WooCommerce Google Product Feed seems to cost $69 per year so yes, you would need to take this into account when setting up your budget. If you want, you can try WPML with your WooCommerce store before you buy the WooCommerce Google Product Feed plugin. To see if everything else works as expected. We provide 30-day refund policy.

Hello,
1. Yes, you can manage your site from within one WP installation and have diffrent domains for languages but you need to follow these guiltiness: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/language-url-options/how-to-use-wpml-with-different-domains-per-language/ There are some limitations as well, for example you cannot mix subdomains with main domains or with subfolders
2. No, in this case, you need only one WPML account/license. Because you need one license key, one per WordPress installation. And when you use diffrent domains for languages you still operate on the same WordPress installation (only one).
3. Yes, automatic translations are use only for translatable items, such as texts. This calculator will help you estimate how much credits you need: https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/automatic-translation-pricing/#simulate-your-translation-price

Regards

Hello Max,
WPML is a WordPress plugin and integrates with other WordPress plugins.
