  1. I wonder why I can’t find the lifetime licence any more. Was it discontinued? If so, is there a chance to still get it?
    Having an annual subscription is a dealbreaker for me.

  2. I have a very important question about the price of your product, the translation page, and compatibility with Google FEED.
    Google FEED has a very important policy of price consistency.
    For example, my website is now adding a Danish product, and according to Google regulations, the price of the product must include taxes (25%), which is not a problem.
    But Google has another rule (please do not change the prices of products on the landing page based on the user’s geographical location. Ensure that users can purchase products online at the price you submit, without being affected by their geographical location). I am thinking that if a Danish person visits my website in Austria, the price will be different (I can ship to Austria, their tax is 20.00%).
    For example again: American customers visit my Danish products. My price does not show taxes and fees, and it is definitely different from the price of the FEED I submitted.
    Do you have a way to bind language and price together, so that no matter which country you visit the webpage, the price remains the same.

      I have to admit that I am not personally familiar with Google FEED but I can see that we are compatible with this 3rd party plugin:

      In principle, our WCML plugin is designed to allow you to make your shop multilingual….that means same product, same price but just in different languages and currency. So, out of the box and with no additional pricing rules, this seems to be what you are looking for (e.g. one base product price always). We do not do any kind of geolocalization – we work with other 3rd party plugins to provide that function if required. Of course, WCML allows the option to set a special price per currency (eg. special currency conversion rates) and WooCommerce provides option for discount pricing within the product edit fields. You can make the currency language dependent but WE do not do geographical differentiation.

      Yes, WooCommerce Multilingual & Multicurrency with WPML“ an official and fully free plugin that‘s maintained by WPML. There are 2 features in this plugin: multicurrency support (1) and complete store translation (2). With the first feature, you can introduce multicurrency support to your store. With the 2nd feature you can further translate all of your products, emails, Woocommerce strings, and Woo plugin settings. The first feature is free. The 2nd feature is unlocked when you have the WPML CMS or Agency subscription level.

      WPML SEO is also maintained by WPML but is not freely available. It is an additional bridge/ “add on” plugin that is available at the WPML CMS subscription level. There is no “free” version.

      I hope this clarifies the pricing and feature scheme.

    We would like our page to be automaticly translated into German (and additionaly Italian, Croatian) language. If we insert the right pluggin and all technical detailes, will the system work automaticly? To explain –> we would like our page to be automaticly translated, when visitors from German market comes to our page (web store), but that URL still remains info@viagoshop.de. We have had two pages and domains, but we managed to link german page to slovenian domain and create ”alias” of the page. So, the problem is that we cannot seem to arrange that the URL stays info@viagoshop.de and that store is translated automaticly (if visited from Germany).

    2. Is it possible IP translation if coustomer is from Germany, Italy etc…

    3. Is it possible to arrange different payment methods for different countries / markets?

    4. Is it possible to arrange different transport possibilities and prices of that for different markets?

  5. I’m planning to update my website to PHP 8+, but I’m encountering compatibility issues with several WPML plugins.

    Upon enabling PHP 8, I receive the following errors:

    Warning: The magic method WPML_Absolute_Url_Persisted::__wakeup() must have public visibility…

    Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function get_magic_quotes_gpc()
    in /wp-content/plugins/wpml-string-translation/inc/functions.php on line 24

    These issues seem to be related to:

    WPML Multilingual CMS

    WPML String Translation

    Possibly WPML Translation Management as well

    My question is: will updating all WPML components to their latest versions resolve these issues and ensure full compatibility with PHP 8+?

      What do you mean by translating pictures on the website? WPML, when translating your page creates new copies of these pages in other languages and images are copied too. WPML allows you to translate alternative texts and captions of your images. If you need to provide a completely different image per language, you will be able to do so too and to do so you will need the WPML Media Translation plugin. Your website seems to be using th Shoptimizer theme and this theme is compatible with WPML: https://wpml.org/theme/shoptimizer/ This website uses WooCommerce as well and WPML is compatible with WooCommerce too. I’m not sure what your expectation are in term of preparing you an offer. For websites that use WooCommerce you will need the Multilingual CMS package that costs 99 euros. It will allow you to use WPML on three websites.

      I see you are a long standing client and was able to check your support log.

      If you are referring to these, I’ve signalled that you are complaining about service. But please go back to those open tickets and put your concern there. In PreSales, we have very limited options to help you and it is not the right channel to use.

  13. I currently have a large website with 12 smaller language subdirectories in a multisite setup on wordpress. The subsites have only around 15 pages all human translated. I want to then move over c.a. 100 pages from the main site to the 12 subdirectories in their respective languages. Can this all be done in wpml or do I need to scrap the multi site and move the 12 directories into the main site? Thanks

    Which WPML package would best suit our needs if we plan to translate a medium-sized website with multiple languages?

    How are translation credits calculated? Do they count every word in the content, or only unique words?

    Is it possible to manually edit the translations after they’ve been auto-translated?

    Are elements like URLs, meta descriptions, and page titles included in the translation process?

    Which automatic translation engine (e.g., DeepL, Google Translate, Microsoft) do you recommend for the best quality results?

    Is it possible to translate only selected parts of the website – for example, just the pages within the oriontelekom.rs/poslovni section – and leave the rest untranslated? Can we choose which specific pages or sections of the site to translate, and exclude others?

    My current content is in English and translation is required in NL & FR.

    But the default language of the site needs to be NL (mywebsite.nl) and the translations to be ‘mywebsite.nl/en’ & ‘mywebsite.nl/fr’

    Is this possible in WPNL settings/configuration?

      Yes, this is possible.

      • You would install the plugin with the default language of EN (English) so that your current content is tagged with the correct existing language.
      • You would use the URL structure of “a language per directory”
      • Afterwards, you would translate your content from to NL and FR.
      • When you are done with initial translation, you then change the default langauge to NL to have the URL structure you want.

      The WPML pricing on the web page is the base price for the yearly subscription (i.e. the product price) Depending on your location and if you are a business or not, we might have to comply with required tax charges/collection as well.

  17. Dear Yvette, you recommended us the CMS package with 90,000 translation credits. Our entire website currently contains 65,731 unique words. Will this package be sufficient for us, or will we need to pay extra once we exceed the allowed credit for that package? Thank in advance.

    • Hello

      It’s hard to say as it also depends on how your data is structured. We tend to send phrases to the translation engines.
      For exmple, take these two phrases:
      “I love apple pie”
      and
      “Apple pie is my favorite desert”

      Here, here are 7 unique words…however the 2 phrases will be translated separately. This means that actually 10 words are going to be translated.

      We do implement “Translation Memory” which will recognise commonly used phrases so that any edits to the content will not create brand new translations.
      For example, if you modify the first phrase to add another:
      “I love apple pie. It’s especially good with whipped cream”

      Translation memory would recognise that you already translated “I love apple pie” previously and will only send “It’s especially good with shipped cream.” to the tranlsation engine.

      In summary, the number of unique words is not enough to determine how many credits are required to translate the entire site.

  18. Apologies, Yvette, for the many questions, but your service is still a bit unclear to us, and we genuinely want to use it. If we purchase the CMS license and exceed the 90,000 credits, do we know how much the additional cost would be? Is the extra charge calculated per word or in some other way?

    Also, if we decide not to translate the entire website, just the business part https://oriontelekom.rs/poslovni/, is there an option to exclude specific pages from translation so that they don’t appear at all in the English version, or would those pages simply remain in Serbian?

    • Hello Nikoleta,

      There is definitely an option to exclude pages/posts/custom post types from translation from the Translation Management dashboard. If there is no “English” version of the Serbian page, then as long as there is no navigation path or internal link attempting to point to an English version of that page, that section of the website will not exist.

      In other words, you do not HAVE to have all your content existing in the target languages. But you should make sure that the navigation menus in the target languages reflect this difference.

      With regards to understanding how much additional credits would be needed.
      When you select the items to be translated, you will see a kind of “word count” that will represent the base line for credit calculation. However, as discussed in the article, the Translation Memory is not accounted in this first estimation, so if you are editing/updating content, the actual translation cost will be less.

      You also have the option to do the following:
      – open the post type in the Advanced Translation Editor (ATE)
      – the ATE can/will automatically execute the translation and display how much credit *will be* consumed if you decide to accept the translation
      – At this point, you can reverse the translation and return the consumed credits to your account You can do this for the whole page, or you can do it segment by segment. In this way, SOME of the page content can consume credits while other parts might be done manually.

      With this explanation, let me try to respond to your questions:

      If we purchase the CMS license and exceed the 90,000 credits, do we know how much the additional cost would be?

      You can select the remaining content from the Translation Dashboard to estimate the remaining word count and, therefore, use the estimation calculator to determine how many more credits would be required.

      Is the extra charge calculated per word or in some other way?
      There is no “extra charge” apart from the word count.

      You will get 90 000 credits in the package so these should suffice or translating 65,731 with the Microsoft engine (look at the credits section on my screenshots). If you stick to DeepL (which is the default engine in WPML), you will need some extra credits.
      As one of the options, WPML allows you to manually select which pages to translate automatically:

  20. I have the main website https://createabusinessinusa.com/ for English content, and another website https://internationaltradingcenter.com/ for the translated Spanish content. Both sites are accessible from the main domain https://createabusinessinusa.com/.

    My goal is to have the English content served from https://createabusinessinusa.com/ and the Spanish content served from https://internationaltradingcenter.com/. I would like to have separate multilingual sitemaps for each website – an English sitemap for createabusinessinusa.com and a Spanish sitemap for internationaltradingcenter.com.

    Is this setup possible using the TranslatePress plugin?

    Currently, I’m using the GTranslate Premium plugin, but it doesn’t support separate multilingual sitemaps. Before switching to TranslatePress, I wanted to confirm if this feature is supported.

  21. I’m working on upgrading the website (it’s quite behind in updates). We’re verifying everything on a development server and I would like to know how to set up the license for the dev server – it’s currently not on a subdomain for the main site, but we can do that if it’s required.

    Can you point me to documentation that shows how to set this up?

      I understand that you want information on how to assign a site key to your development server. With any of our licenses you can have a number of development site keys (3 for the Blog, 9 for WPML CMS, and unlimited for Agency). This means that you can keep your production site running and allocate a development site key to your test server.

      Here is more information about the difference between a production and development site key (see the section “What are production and development sites?”):

      The same article describes how to switch your site from development to production. In your case, you would just do the opposite but using the same described steps.

    We have used WPML since 2019 consecutively. However, I just found that our subscription was broken in Feb.
    We didn’t receive any renew notice from WPML this year. That’s why we fail to continue the subscription.

  23. I have tested Polylang and TranslatePress and both have failed to provide our basic requirements. We do not have budget available so I need to ensure that if I submit a business case to purchase WPML I want to be certain that I won’t run into the same issues with your product.

    We are slowly expanding our website presence to include MX-ES. We currently created 2 translated pages. We now would like to post those onto our website with the “menu globe.” So I need to ensure that we do not need our entire site translated automatically. Can use our existing 3 MX-ES pages we created.

    When launching the menu we need those pages to appear when selecting MX-ES and pages that are not translated continue to appear in English without throwing an error message. We also need to ensure when reverting back to English the entire site continue to work without throwing errors.

    We do not want something that will break existing template. We currently have a mix of WP templates and newer pages in Elementor Full-Width templates.

    -Does not auto-create or auto-sync every page

    -Does not break Elementor templates

    – Lets you assign only the pages you’ve translated

    -Gracefully falls back to English for everything else / stable, predictable language switcher

    -Provides a clean, reliable menu switcher

    -Is fully stable in staging and live environments

      thank you very much for your interest in WPML. I have covered most of your questions in a video but let me summarize a few things as well.

      Mexican Spanish is supported, but you’ll need to add it to your site as a custom language by following my video or this tutorial.
      Please note that in terms of automatic translations, WPML will translate your site using Spanish language (not Mexican Spanish). You can use the glossary feature to tell WPML how to handle specific words for Mexican Spanish.

If you migrate your site that uses some automatic translation you will need to decide what to do with the existing translation memory – if you want to keep two independent translation memories for each of your copy or you need your site to share the translation memory. When you create a copy of your site that uses WPML, WPML will detect this and will ask you if you would like to translate these two pages independently.
