  1. Hello WPML,

I bought wpml 2-3 years ago and I was ok with that and no renewal subscription. On my clients website I have this fatal error that is described here:

    https://wpml.org/errata/saving-menus-in-non-default-language-leads-to-404-error/

The only way to make it right is to buy the a newer version that I have and I do not want to pay 79$ for a major bug from WPML and that you did not fix, I would like the price of the renewal so 39$, so a 50% discount which is the minimum you can do.

Please send me a discount code asap.

    My best.

    Axel

    This is really

    • Axel,

We constantly upgrade WPML for different purposes. This includes performance, security, compatibility with WordPress updates, compatibility with themes and plugins and new features.

When you have a valid subscription for WPML, you can download all versions that are released. You also receive support in our technical forum.

As you know, you can buy renewals at 50% rate while your account is valid. You probably understand that we set this policy to encourage clients to have their accounts valid always. Another alternative is to upgrade to a Lifetime account. A Lifetime account costs $195. Since you already paid for a yearly account, the price of upgrade would be $116 (even if your account has expired). With this, you will receive upgrades for WPML forever, without additional charges.

As a professional WordPress developer, I’m sure that you know the importance of installing updates as soon as they are available. Some of the updates to WPML contain security fixes. Some contain adaptations for different WordPress versions. Without these updates, your client sites may develop problems over time, as WordPress changes.

We cannot offer a renewal at $39 once your old account has expired. I hope that the possibility to upgrade to a Lifetime account at the reduced costs helps in any way.

      • I really think that this is totally unfair. I bought a piece of software that was running fine and after that you have a serious bug that damaged the sites on which it was running and then you answer is buy the renewal subscription for it to work. There was no limitation in time when I bought it and now you tell me to buy it another time to make it work. You have a fatal error that you did not solve for your customers and that was not the terms of the contract when I bought it. It is really a fraud the way you did it. I am not the only one to point out this problem.

        https://wpml.org/errata/saving-menus-in-non-default-language-leads-to-404-error/comment-page-3/#comment-1390005

I do not want your lifetime subscription for the moment. I just the want the software that I bought to be back to normal. I am not asking you to offer me, I just want the 50% discount code for the software to run as usual.

I really think that you “bugged” your software on purpose for people to buy another time what they already bought. This is a lame business strategy as your customers cannot trust you anymore. I think the offer I propose if fair. This is a matter of principles. If we do not come to a deal, I will have no other way to hack wpml to make it work. You know that you have many offers on the Internet to buy wpml for a fraction of price, or download it on a non-legal way, which is not what I want to do. But if you tell me to go fuck myself as you just did, you leave no other options.

  2. Hello. My company purchased a lifetime license back in 2013. I am now trying to login to WPML support with my username and password but am encountering an error:

    ERROR: Incorrect username or password.

How can we resolve this? I have the original purchase invoice if you would like that.

    Thank You,

    Carl Gross

  3. Hi,

I need to see if your plugin will do the job I require i.e. I need it to work for pages and posts but also with All In One Event Calendar as I explored PolyLang but that doesn’t seem to work with that plugin.

Is there a way of road testing your plugin without having to purchase it first?

    Thanks,
    Andrew

  4. Hello,

we have SDL Trados Studio 2015 Professional nad we want to translate webpages created in WordPress. We have Trados Studio on our server. Is it possible to install your plugin on server version of Trados Studio?
How does it works then? We will choose what we want to translate in WordPress and then WPML plugin makes package for translation in Trados Studio?

    Thank you and kind regards,
    Marek Schilla

    • WPML doesn’t do the actual translation of your content. It allows you to have a single WordPress site with several languages. Shona language is not pre-configured in WPML, but this is not a problem. You can add it using WPML->Languages->Edit languages. Then, you can write content in both English and Shona, translate yourself or send content outside for other translators.

      Does this help?

      • Thanks for your reply – I think I may have misunderstood the plugin – with the pre-configured languages in WPML, is it possible to select a page written in English within the wordpress admin section, then add a translated version automatically, in German or Spanish for example, without personally hiring a translator for the content?

With Shona, since it’s not pre-configured, when we add a page that needs to be translated in Shona, then send it outside for other translators using the plugin itself, or find our own translators?

        • WPML doesn’t automatically translate the content. There are other plugins that do machine translation, if this is what you need, but not WPML. WPML is intended to add languages to WordPress and allow you to translate yourself.

          • Thanks, that makes sense. So if we were to enable professional translation, pay the additional fee to ICanLocalize or whatever service we choose, then WPML handles the translated page creation, translated URLs, taxonomy, menu translation, category name translation, etc, correct?

              • OK thanks alot for your help – to confirm, if we choose ‘manual’ translation, then we have to manually connect additional pages to menus, etc in wordpress.

If we choose ‘translation management’ or ‘professional translation’, then WPML will take care of connecting translated pages with translated menus, category names, etc. correct?

And no matter which method of translation we choose, they are all available if we purchase WPML CMS solution at $79, and to receive updates after that, it’s $39 per year?

  5. Hello,

I have a client who has a WordPress website. They are wanting to basically create a German version of their site.

Using your plugins, with whatever needed add-ons, what would be the best way to “import” the translations and have the translations matchup with the English version…so would automatically assign the German version.

Would a CSV or XML have to be setup a certain way? I wouldn’t need to re-import the english version would I?

I read the documentation, and have a slight understanding on what I would need to do. But I’m still a little confused on what all I would need to do to take an existing English site and through importing a CSV or XML have all the translations automatically correspond with their english version.

As soon as I get confirmation and somewhat of an explanation of how to achieve this, I will purchase whatever plugins needed. I already have a license for WP All Import.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

    • WPML includes a complete system for managing translations. You can read about it here:
      https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/using-the-translation-editor/

You can import content using CSV files using the plugin WP All Import. We explain it here:
      https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/wpml-all-import-plugin-website-import-with-wpml/

There’s a tiny glue plugin that adds language information to WP All Import. The instructions page explains how to add language and translation relationships to the CSV file.

Is this what you’re looking for?

      • I’m sorry, that really didn’t answer my questions.

The first link you provided explains about entering and managing translated content in the editor. This is assuming the translated content is already imported, or would have to pasted the translated content in manually page-by-page. Neither apply to my original question.

For the second link you provided. I’m sure if I had experience with WPML this documentation would make more sense. But from my standpoint, never working on a multi-lingual website, the documentation isn’t as clear as I would have hoped. I’ve also read through some of the support forums, but most links coming back to wpml.org return 404’s.

Like for example, in the documentation found at https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/wpml-all-import-plugin-website-import-with-wpml/ it talks about creating a CSV for the english and polish version. But as I mentioned, the site already has all the content in English anyways. I don’t want to have to re-import in all the english content.

Then you mentioned a tiny glue plugin. Is there a link to this plugin? I have no idea what tiny glue plugin is, nor do I find anything when googling tiny glue wordpress plugin. Then immediately after you reference instructions, but don’t specify which instruction you are talking about.

Again, I’m going to explain what I need.

We have an existing site already, all is in English. A translation agency has requested either an XML or CSV of the exported content (pages, posts and CPTs). They are then going to send these translated content back to us.

Q1: So do I need to format the CSV file a certain way before sending to the translation agency?

The documentation shows how to create and format a CSV from scratch, but for both languages so that you can use the “connector” column to match up the translated version. But like I mentioned, the content in English is already in the site. I would prefer not to have to create a English version to import when all the content is already in the site. I only want to worry about the translated content.

Q2: So is there a way to only import the translated content and automatically sync it with it’s english version? So when the user uses the language switcher on the front end, it will load the correct translated content.

Please let me know if you need additional information in order to answer my question. And don’t be afraid to ask me if my questions don’t make sense. Like I mentioned, I have never done any type of work on a multilingual site, so this is all new to me. So I’m not 100% what I need and don’t need right now.

        • I understand now. So, you don’t need anything special or any complex workflow. You will need to install WPML (core), String Translation and Translation Management plugins.

Then, add the translation as a ‘translator’ to your site. WPML will export and email them the XLIFF files. When they are done translating, you will get from them translated XLIFF files, which you will need to upload back to WPML. When you upload the completed translations, you don’t need to select anything in WPML. The XLIFF file already tells WPML which language it is and what it’s translating (in meta information). You can upload the XLIFF files one at a time, or as one big ZIP.

          Does this make more sense?

          • Yes, that was helpful. I appreciate you getting back to me in such a timely manner. I will take a look at the plugins you mentioned. Thank you for explaining and pointing me in the right direction!

            • HI Amir,

Sorry, one more question. Can you provide links to the String Translation and Translation Management plugins you mentioned? I can’t seem to find where to find these on the WPML website.

              Thanks,

              Ryan

                • Yep, I bought the Multilingual CMS Lifetime package and see the downloads in my account section. I’m having issues adding translators (it won’t let me add any, and doesn’t recognize any of my registered users) in order to export the XLIFF file. But I just submitted a support ticket about that in the members-only support forum.

                • Hi Jennifer, good you registered the ticket. Could you please share the link here so I will keep an eye on it as well.

  6. Dear Amir,

I downloaded a torrent with WPML and I liked a lot the solution.
COuld you please let me know the name of all aplications WPM lifetime contain?
I need to be sure that the 195,00 will have all that I need to translate the theme u-Design.

    Thanks

    • First, you can install WPML on all your sites and on sites that you build for your clients. You can do this with both the Lifetime account ($!95) and with a yearly account ($79).

The Lifetime account gives you access to downloads and support for life without renewals. The yearly account gives you access to downloads and support for one year. At the end of that year, you can either renew for another year ($39) or upgrade to a Lifetime account at $116.

      Does this help?

  7. Hello,

if purchasing the Lifetime Access package, am I able to use this on several sites? Or am I limited to one site/multisite?

    Thanks

  8. Hello,

I am planing to install a website using Genesis Framework and I would like to implement about 5 languages. Before I proceed with purchase I would like to know if there is any issues with Genesis or if WPML works fine with this framework?

    Thank you.

    • Hello,
WPML works well with the Genesis framework, it was tested by our compatibility team:
      https://wpml.org/theme/genesis/

but we made the last test a few months ago. I would suggest you to go ahead and proceed with your purchase and test it yourself. You will have 30 days to ask for a refund in case you are not satisfied. During that 30-day period you can ask our supporters for help if you run across any issues.

And yes, you can configure WPML to handle 5 languages.

      • Thank you so much for the reply, I am so happy to hear that and I will proceed soon to buy and test it, once I make my site with Genesis.

        Thank you again Agnes 🙂

        Kind regards.

  9. Hello,

we are a diving center and we are currently making a new website for our center in wordpress. Of course, we want our new website to be multilingual so we are considering the wpml plugin to do the job. I presume the blog licence would be enough for our needs. I am currently building the website offline on our local server and when it’s done I’m planning to migrate it online. My question is can I install the plugin locally and then install it again on our hosting server with the same licence? Does the wpml blog licence allow to do this?

    Looking forward to your answer.

    Best regards,

    Marko

    • You can install WPML on all your sites and on sites that you build for your clients. FYI, if you later decide that you need the functionality that’s only available with the full Multilingual CMS package, you can always upgrade and pay only the difference.

  10. I bought your service and uploaded the plugins. I received this error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/content/46/7492746/html/celebs/wp-content/plugins/sitepress-multilingual-cms/classes/language-switcher/class-wpml-language-switcher.php on line 38

Can’t view my site http://www.celebritieswhogive.com or the wp-admin login page.

Calling GoDaddy to rollback my website and all the work I’ve done because have no other option 🙁

    • You don’t need help from GoDaddy for this. From what you’re describing, it looks like an incomplete installation of WPML on your site. I’m not sure how this became, but it’s very easy to fix.

Use an FTP program to reach the installation of your site on the server. Go to the plugins directory and delete WPML’s folders. This will bring your site back to life. Now, download WPML’s ZIP file from your WPML account. Go to the WordPress admin, click on Plugins->Add New and upload that ZIP file.

Let me know if you need any help with this.

  11. Do you provide a “drop down” user interface element that can be customized with only the languages that are being supported?

If so, can the “drop down” be positioned at the top of the page (above the menu)? So that the drop down can be seen on every page of your site?

    • Hi Stephen, you mean a language switcher, right? Yes, the language switcher will be created automatically based on the languages you have chosen in your settings. By default the language switcher can be added to your menu, footer and the sidebar. If you want to display your language switcher somewhere else, it is also possible, but you will need to use a code snippet we provide and include it in your theme PHP file.

  12. Hello,

Our subscription expired lost month, and we missed the option to renew our account. Since it was so soon, is it possible to get the 50% discount? (Starting from the original date of course, when we had to renew our subscription).

    • Hello,
our records show that your subscription expired more than 2 months ago and we sent you two reminders (one 30 days before and another one a few days before it expired), so in that case the only discount we give for our customers who missed their expiry date is the discount for the Lifetime subscription. Please log into your WPML and you will see the option to ugrade your WPML to lifetime at a reduced price.

  13. Hi,

I am about to build my website and have one question before purchasing wpml.

Bought the theme uncode and need to set up a second language. Will wpml work fine with visual composer as parts are created with visual composer and other plugin do not properly support!

    Thanks in advance!

    • Hi Thomas,
I will check with our developers and let you know. Please note, even if the theme haven’t been tested with the most recent version, most all your elements should be translated without any issues, at least the most significant once such as posts, pages, menus, categories etc.

From your visitor’s point of view, it means, that there might be some issues with single elements (setup in theme custom options) that will be displayed in English. Feel free to test it yourself, our refund policy allows you to do this without any risk for 30 days.

    • Hi Thomas,
our developers from Compatibility Team confirmed that WPMLwas tested with the most recent version of Divi and it works.

  14. Hello,

    – I would like to know if this website (http://wordpress.templaza.net/real-estate/) can be completely translated to spanish, they said it supports WPML.

    – Is it possible to make it Spanish by default and have the option of switching to english?

    – Besides buying WPML what else do I need to make this possible. Also do I need to translate it or translation is already included?

    Thank you.

    • 1. About the theme:
We’ve worked with templaza team and checked the theme called Eventory. You can see it here:
      https://wpml.org/developer/templaza/

For “real estate”, we don’t have a published compatibility announcement. This means that our devs didn’t complete all tests. Since we did work with the developer before, there’s a good chance that it’s compatible with WPML.

      2. Default language:
Yes, you can set any language to be the site’s default language, including Spanish.

      3. Translations:
WPML lets you build multilingual sites but it does not translate your content. You can translate content yourself or send content to translation companies (available both through WPML and on your own using WPML’s interface).

      Does this help?

      • Yes, it did help, thank you. But for question 3 let me clarify:

        – In order to make my website in spanish, is WPML all that I need, or there is additional addons or services that I need to pay for.

        Thank you.

        • WPML lets you build a multilingual site. It doesn’t translate the content for you. With WPML, you can translate yourself or send content out to translators.

You don’t need anything else but WPML to build a multilingual WordPress site.

  15. Hello. Last week I asked about the validity of my license, and someone at WPML told me they would check on it and get back to me. It has been six days now and I have not heard anything. My issue is that I want to post to the support forum, but the login I have for my license does not seem to be working.

    Thanks.

  16. Multilingual CMS Lifetime can be used for all the company’s websites with different
domain names? Is there any limit for maximum number of different websites?

    • Hi Damjan,
our licencing system works exactly how you said: Multilingual CMS Lifetime can be used for all the company’s websites with different
domain names, no maximum limitation. Feel free to but only one WPML subscription and use it for all your customers.

    • Hi Shannon,
we don’t provide any special trials but the good news is that there is a way to test WPML without any risk. You buy it and you can test it for 30 days keeping our refund policy in mind. If you are not completely satisfied you will refund your order, no questions asked.

  17. Hi there

i would like to know if your Plugin allos me to translate even the text in Revolution slider banners i did on my site.
    Thanks
    Frank

  18. Hello WPML team,

I am currently using Polylang and I was actually quite happy with it, though I am not sure, it seems like there might be some compatibility issues with the Divi theme and maybe some plugins.

I am considering changing to WPML, but could you please confirm that there are a 100% no compatibility issues from your side with Divi, and some well known plugins like W3 Total Cache, Yoast SEO. Thanks.

Also I am concerned about the fact that everything is running currently through Polylang.

Would there be any quick and safe way for a Polylang to WPML transfer? (really wouldn’t like to create lots of time consuming issues with such a move…) …also would Google Search Console be somehow affected by a change? What happens with the Polylang created Permalinks? (…/es/…, …/en/…)

The Polylang flags for choosing the language as a visitor are quite neat… Does WPML has those flags too? …would prefer that rather than a drop down menu for selecting the correct language…

Would it be the “multilingual blog” option that I would need to choose in order to have the exact same possibilities that I am currently having with Polylang?

The issues I am currently having and would like to solve with a transfer to WPML: – I have 3 active hreflang flags, Google Search Console shows 13 for some reason…, – search function in Divi doesn’t make a connection to the different languages, only shows results for the primary blog language, the other languages return an error, – since the last Divi, WordPress update, the Divi builder doesn’t give me the option to choose the corresponding language categories in the back end anymore, even though in the front end everything is correct, – when deactivating the cache Plugin the two linked language url’s for some reason create a redirection loop.

Please note that I am using one WordPress url that includes three language translations in the same url, with all its pages, posts, categories, tags translated.

I hope I was able to explain the current issue. Please let me know if those issues could be solved with a transfer to WPML, if everything would be compatible, how I would make an “easy”, “quick” & “safe” transfer from Polylang to WPML.

The transfer would be for solving those issues, not for creating more of course.

Thanks a lot in advance for your opinion and information.

    • Hi Sabine,
WPML is fully compatible with the most recent version of Divi:
      https://wpml.org/theme/divi/

It also works with the W3 Total Cache and very well with the Yoast SEO plugin (we use this one it ourselves) but we didn’t check the most recent versions:
      https://wpml.org/plugin/w3tc/

There is no automatic way to migrate from Polylang to WPML (although these two plugins work likewise). If you don’t want to reassign posts manually and you would need a script, maybe one of our WPML consultants could help you with it.
      https://wpml.org/documentation/support/wpml-contractors/

I cannot check the details for you, the issues you are having now when using Divi with Polylang but feel free to test it yourself – you can use our refund policy if you are not completely satisfied with WPML.

      • Dear Agnes,

thanks for your fast reply, though there are still some questions which are unanswered.

I would do the transfer myself and even though you have a refund policy, it would be very important that one knows beforehand what tasks would need to be done for such a transfer. Thanks in advance for clarifying the necessary steps to me.

What is this, Agnes, the Polylang Wmpl importer? Is it free? How does it work exactly? Does it work? 🙂 https://wpml.org/2016/06/polylang-wpml-importer/

It would be important for me to clarify in advance what would need to be done exactly. Thanks again for your help.

        • Hi Sabine,
yes, you could try this Polylang WPML importer but this is still the alfa version and you can have some issues. Let me contact the develop responsible to check the status. You need the WPML subscription but the Polylang WPML importer can be currently downloaded only from Github: https://github.com/OnTheGoSystems/migrate-polylang-to-wpml

          This guide will help you:
          https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/migrate-polylang-wpml/

but let me check the current status with the developer behind and I will provide you with all the answers you need. I will keep you posted.

        • Hi Sabine,
I contacted the developer responsible for the Polylang->WPML importer and he says that so far nobody raised any issues, so feel free to use it.

          To answer your questions:
Your results in Google won’t be affected if you keep the same URLs, so after you are done with the migration process, just keep to the “language in directory” option. In addition, you will need to make the 301 redirection to homepage, as it is covered in the documentation I mentioned previously.

If you want to have both flags and language names, it’s ok, if you want to have flags only, you will need to adjust your language switcher manually, as covered here:
          https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/custom-language-switcher/

To migrate from Polylang to WPML, you need the Blog subscription but if you want to translate some custom options, the String translation module is required, which is available in the Multilingual or Lifetime subscription.

I hope I answered all your questions.
