Hello, I’m interested in purchasing the Multilingual CMS for 99$, but I’d like to double-check some features.
1. Does this include the ability to edit translations, translate images, and translate products?
2. Does it support an unlimited number of languages?
3. Can it support SEO on multilingual sites?
4. Does this offer automatic translation and editing?
5. How many sites or domains can be used?
Thanks
Hello,
thank you for your interest in WPML.
1. Yes, it does.
2. Yes it does, but not all languages are supported in terms of automatic translations, please check this list: https://ate.wpml.org/mt_langs
If you cannot see your language on that list, it means you can still translate it to other languages but you would need to provide the translations (= translate manually)
3. Yes, it can. We are compatible with the popular SE plugins: https://wpml.org/plugin-functionality/seo/
4. Yes, it does. You can edit automatic translations too.
5. If you buy the CMS package, you can register 3 production domains (and 9 additional sites for testing). If you need more than 3, you would need to buy the Agency package.
Can I translate new words if I don’t renew the plugin after a year? Also, do I have to pay every year for 90,000 automatic word translations? How does this work?
Hello,
what version of WPML did you buy? CMS or Blog? If you have the Blog version you cannot use Automatic Translation and you cannot see the Translation Management. You would need to update to the CMS package. If you want to do so, please log into your WPML account and you should see an option to do so there, if you cannot, you can go to the purchase page (but still you need to be logged into your WPML account) and add the CMS package to your basket. You should see the price that is the difference between CMS and Blog. As soon as you have the CMS package you will be able to use DeepL or Google Translate. This video will help you better understand what Blog users can see versus what CMS users can see. But if you have the CMS package and still cannot see the Translation Management please make sure you use WPML 4.5+ If not, you need to update WPML.
I have an old WP website to update with your WPML Multilingual CMS 2.9.2 plugin. The website was run by an agency that no longer exists.
We have to undertake updating activities ourselves within our Foundation.
I understand that the plugin does not have a free version and the only option is to license and update. (Version 2.9.2 no longer works with the latest WordPress 5.9.3)
If I buy a license (which option we should choose) and update the plug in this way, is there a chance that the process will go without any problems? Or rather, trouble is to be expected due to the very old version and the big differences.
Normally I recommend clients to do this:
1. Buy/renew your WPML account
2. Log into your WPML account
3. Find WPML 4.0 and download it (you will find the previous version under https://wpml.org/download/wpml-multilingual-cms/?section=changelog)
4. Upload it to your WP to replace your existing WPML
5. If everything works fine, find WPML 4.4 and download it
6. Upload it to your WP to replace your existing WPML (4.0)
7. If everything works fine, find WPML 4.5.6 and download it
But since you use 2.9.2 which is very old, please upgrade to WPML 3.0, then maybe 3.5.
I also asked about the payment. I want to know what’s the price for translating via deepl and Google. Do I need to pay separately for WPML and deepl? Or how it works? Can you provide me all the details, please?
Hi
I need to know, how does translation credits work? I want to pay upfront per annum. I don’t want extra fees.
Other plugins load from MySql, all the translations kept there. Do you do the same?
How does it work?
Cooper
Hello,
1. You need translation credits to translate automatically. We offer two kinds of credits:
a) pre-paid credits – you can buy credits upfront and assign them to your site
b) Pay-as-you-go – you will need to provide your credit card and you will pay for the credits that you have used
Both methods are explained here: https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/automatic-translation-pricing/
When buying the CMS package you will get 90 000 credits for free.
2. You don’t need to translate anything that is already translated – for example, strings coming from your plugins.
When you use automatic translations, these translations will be saved in your MySql database too, which means that even if you don’t renew your WPML subscription, you won’t lose them (and you can still use WPML)
Hi there
Nice to know your plugin stores my translation on the db. And you offer support too.
I’m keen to look closer at buying.
But i want to know how credits work? Is the free CMS credits for Google Translate? Or does it use a credit system through you?
Do i pay you for new credits? Or Google?
Cooper
Google Translate is the default translation engine used by Automatic Translation within WPML (we also support DeepL and Microsoft). When you buy the CMS package you will get 90 000 credits for free. So to translate your site with Automatic Translation and Google Translate you just need to assign all of some of these credits to your site (when registering WPML) and it will work. If you need to buy more credits, you can check here: https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/automatic-translation-pricing/
Hello,
If I have a website already translated using WPML. When I switch languages it redirects using different slugs. But now I want to be redirected to a new domain name. I know WPML allows me to connect different domains, but my question is, if I activate this option, do I have to re-do all the translations ?
Hello,
Yes, that’s the correct VAT number we use for VAT purposes. I can get in touch with our financial management to get the info you need but I need to better understand the context of your question and what matters to you. What do you mean by “Do you have Company in EU to pay to?” You pay for WPML by completing your order and everything is handled automatically. Do you mean we should establish a special purchase process for you? Does it have to do with your paying or not paying VAT? I’m trying to better understand your needs.
This question is not answered: Do I need to install a copy of the second version on my webspace and do I have to use an additional database? I think not, cause the DNS of the second site points to the first site. If my guess is correct, I should have the admin area of both sites in the “basic” site, and all strings are translated automatically, but I will have the possibility of changing them manually.
Furthermore:
I hardcoded several templates that have code that might look like this:
My heading How will this code be translated?
And finally:
I also used Advanced Custom Fields. I think, that the content of the ACF will be translatable without problems. Nevertheless please tell me before I buy the plugin in order to have no problems later.
HelloRaphael,
thank you for your interest in WPML.
>Do I need to install a copy of the second version on my webspace and do I have to use an additional database?
No, you don’t. You will have only one WordPress site.
>I should have the admin area of both sites in the “basic” site, and all strings are translated automatically, but I will have the possibility of changing them manually.
I’m not sure I understand this part correctly. You will have only one WordPress site but with different domains for languages. The primary language is only one. You are selecting it when installing WPML. I’m not sure what you mean by “all strings”. WPML allows you to automatically translate your site’s contents: pages, posts, categories, … Some strings need to be translated manually, please check this page: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/string-translation/
>have code that might look like this:
I cannot see your code. Have you tried to wrap your code up in the code tags, as explained in “You can use these tags:” section when submitting your comment?
Anyway, WPML can detect any custom strings hardcoded within your theme/plugin as long as you follow WordPress standards for localization (using the so-called gettext functions etc). You can also create your custom XML file if needed: https://wpml.org/documentation/support/language-configuration-files/
Yes, we are compatible with ACF.
Hi there!
I’m creating a website and I used free Polylang version now. If I’d want to get WPML version for USD 99, I just wonder through how much trouble I’d go recreating all the webpages? Or could I somehow just “take over” the already translated webpages? I’m using Divi on WordPress.
Hello Stela,
you can use the Migrate Polylang to WPML plugin: https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/migrate-polylang-wpml/
and this way avoid retranslating everything again
When you will install WPML, you will see a wizard, at some point it will ask you to choose your translation mode: 1. Translate Everything 2. Translate some. Please select Translate some.
You say you are using Divi. I’m not sure if the migration plugin can deal well with our Divi pages. Best would be to create a copy of your site and run the migration plugin on your copy first to see the results. In case of issues, you can open a ticket on our forum.
Hello Ben, you cannot. You need to set up your glossary upfront before you start translating. So if you need to use glossary, please choose the “Translate some” mode when setting up WPML instead of “Translate everything”. You will be able to switch to Translate everything after setting up your glossary.
Hello, yes, if you have the Multilingual CMS package, yearly renewals cost 74$ per year but renewals are optional, you can cancel your WPML subscription and still use WPML but you won’t have access to future updates if you don’t renew.
Looking at our requirements we are the mid tier level with 3 production / 9 development sites.
I have done initial calculations and we require about 84,000 credits based on our current production site.
Does the translation credits get used up for Staging/Development environments?
Background to our environment = We don’t have automated deployment from Dev to Production as the lower environment is sandbox for new ideas, data models etc… We would initially installed WPML into Development, and when business approves then configure and re-run translation against the Production content..
Hello Philip,
you can assign translation credits (as many as you want, within your existing quota) per site (domain). You do it on your WPML account. So if you don’t want to lose your credits on your testing site, simply don’t assign any (or assign some to check how they work, for example 1000 credits). If however, you want to translate as much as possible on your testing copy and then move your site to production by moving everything (files and database), the translations will be moved as well. WPML will detect that your site has been moved and ask you what to do next: https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/advanced-translation-editor/using-advanced-translation-editor-when-you-move-or-use-a-copy-of-your-site/
Yes, of course. You can use as many languages as you want. If you plan to use automatic translations, here’s the list of supported languages: https://ate.wpml.org/mt_langs
Is there any student discount?
Hello,
unfortunately, we don’t have any discounts for students. We have something for non-profit organizations.
I want to know which plan works with elementor
You need the CMS package if you have an Elementor-powered website.

yes, you can still translate new words even if don’t renew (cancel your WPML subscription). To translate you need to use credits. Here’s the pricing: https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/automatic-translation-pricing/
As you can see you can buy credits at any time.
I would like to know if the blog plan works with elementor, I’m making my own business web. The blog plan works for my? Or I have to buy the Cms plan?
Hello,
you need the CMS plan to use WPML with Elementor.
I already have the plugin installed in my site, but it asks me for the key site, when I buy the plugin again, do I receive the key site?
Yes, if you buy again you will be able to generate a new key for this site.
Hi there – Is the plugin compatible with page builders like: Visual Bakery
Yes, we are compatible with the Visual Bakery:
https://wpml.org/plugin/wpbakery-page-builder/
Hello,
I have installed WPML plugin, but it’s kind of for WooCommerce.
However, the concern is I need WPML plugin for my news and blog sites. I want to make the auto translations by using WPML deepl and Google as well.
Coming to the businessamade.com, the plugin is installed but I am not able to enter the Translation Management section.
Also I want to know what’s the price for translating via deepl and Google.
Do I need to pay separately for WPML and deepl? Or how it works?

Hello Przemyslaw,
Users with old WPML versions should update gradually to avoid problems.
https://wpml.org/errata/updating-wpml-in-a-secure-way-from-a-very-old-version/
Normally I recommend clients to do this:
1. Buy/renew your WPML account
2. Log into your WPML account
3. Find WPML 4.0 and download it (you will find the previous version under https://wpml.org/download/wpml-multilingual-cms/?section=changelog)

I would like to ask you if this plugin supports the languages below:germany, english, greek, russian, arabic, tourkish and italian

If you plan to assign domains per language as one of the opinions WPML provides in language settings you don’t need to translate again.
Hi,
I got an invoice for WPML Multilingual CMS from OnTheGo systems Limited Company from Hong Kong and VAT number: EU196000846.

BEST REGARS,,
Hello,
you cannot resell WPML plugins but you can create websites for your clients that use WPML and charge them for your services.
Hi,
How can I make my site auto-apply updates across all posts when I make changes to the Glossary?

Hello Ben, you cannot. You need to set up your glossary upfront before you start translating. So if you need to use glossary, please choose the “Translate some” mode when setting up WPML instead of “Translate everything”. You will be able to switch to Translate everything after setting up your glossary.
