  1. 1.I have main site and 2 child site that using remote database connection (same database) how to do about child site?
    2. support same slug in 1 post? ex. /en/abc , /fr/abc

    • 1. This is a custom setup and it might not work with WPML. You would need to consult your case on our technical support after purchasing WPML when you provide more details about your specific case. We have 30-day support refund policy and you can request a refund during that time.
      2. Yes, WPML supports the same slugs. For example, “blog” is the name in many languages.

  2. a,Thank you for the respond Agnes, That was clear just to make sure I got it right if I use my 50000 credits for site A and want to renew my clients site next year I have to use new credits again for him?
b,If i do not renew will his site still have the translation without upgrade or updates or he will lose access completely?
c, same scenario if we use the pay as you go from clients card and he doesn’t renew will he lose access as well or only no updates and can maintain the old translation( I am asking this because some of the clients with services websites don’t want any additional service or updating the website they only need it to be translated once do they still have to renew credits to maintain same info)

    • a. If there is nothing new to translate, you don’t need to use/assign new credits. Credits are needed only when you translate new pages or you changed the original content and you would like to retranslate the updated sentences.
      b. They will keep existing translations and can still use WPML on the site. They won’t be able to update WPML plugin to newer version and you won’t be able to ask new questions on our support forum if you don’t renew your WPML license. If they have some credits left (on the site, they can translate automatically new content), otherwise they can translate only manually.
      c. WPML renewals are needed to keep the WPML plugins up to date (or register new site with WPML). If you/your client don’t renew your WPML subscription and have Pay-as-you-go, you/they can still use Pay-as-you-go.

  3. Hello!
I have an agency WPML account and I want to use it on my client’s website.
My client wants to have the auto translation, but I want him to pay for the credits himself.
    Is it possible?

  4. I’ll explain to you
I have a multi-vendor website. I installed a theme for my website in English and I want to convert the website language to Arabic
When using WPML translation, does the translation become random so that the site is translated into both English and Arabic? Or is it completely in Arabic?
My sellers add their products, write prices, and describe the products all in Arabic
Will wpml be translated into Arabic on the entire site so that there is no difference in language between the primary language of the site (English) and the translation (Arabic)?

    • Hello,
thank you for the details. Now it’s clearer.
When you translate with WPML, what you will get is not random but indeed, there might be some text strings that are not automatically translated, resulting in a page in Arabic with some elements still in English. This can happen in the following cases:
      a) the theme you use is not compatible with WPML
      b) the plugins you use are not compatible with WPML
      c) the plugin you use is compatible with WPML but in our compatibility notes we say that some elements need to be translated manually, for example using the WPML String Translation plugin

  5. hello there,

    A couple of questions:

1- can a multilingual wpml wordpress website be connected to multiple CRM accounts?

i will explain: the website is currently in english and will be translated to portuguese and spanish and will be selling online courses. Website is currently connected to Brevo CRM and collects data from forms and purchases etc.

now, could i have a specific CRM connected to the website to each of the languages? would WooCommerce communicate with separate databases based on the course (language) purchased?

2 – i currently have Price Based Country to convert the course fee to the currencies available in south america. does WPML has a function as part of the plugin or will i still need to use another plugin?

    Thank you

    • Hello,
Thank you for your interest in WPML and your questions.
WPML can handle the translations that belong to the WordPress standard installation and the theme and plugins that are compatible with WPML, everything else (especially connecting with other systems and other databases.) is consider a custom work, which we don’t support.
The WooCommerce Multilingual plugin can handle course conversions when you connect with one of the service we support. This feature is available in the free version of this plugin and you can test this out. This documentation (check the Setting an Automatic Exchange Rate section) will help.

  6. Hi,

I am currently using WPML. I have used the auto translate feature into many different languages.

I want to get a human to read over the translated versions to make sure they make sense.

    Does WPML offer this service?

    • Hello,
if you objective is to check the quality of the translation, please do the following:
      a) visit your site in the Chrome browser
      b) right-click and select Translate to English
Chrome will translate your site using their Google Translate engine. WPML uses this translation engine too when translating the site and this the fastest way you can see what kind of translation quality to expect.

    • Hello Francesco,
I have found the registered email address for the account. Let me contact you via email about this.

      Best regards

  7. Does your solution also work for huge shops with >200,000 products, are there any dedicated enterprise solutions/pricings available?

  8. We are considering this plugin for our website but have some questions about pricing. Translation credits are needed to make automatic translations, I am making an assumption that each translation to a new language counts as a translation for credits, or do I have that wrong. If I want to translate a page with 200 words into 4 other languages, will it require 800 words worth of credits or only 200?

    Steve

  9. Hey,

i have a website with german as main language running on divi + woocommerce

    1) is it possible to translate entire site automatically/easily (divi content/products/blogposts etc) with your plugin? we dont speak every language ourselves we want to offer.
    2) is it possible to translate to russian, portuguese, spanish, italian? maybe even chinese?
    3) is it also possible to add a little language switcher just like seen on your very own site easily without having to purchase multiple domains/ subdomains for different languages?
    4) is everything wpml does hosted locally or are there any external requests to external ressources for wpml to function? just asking because of dsgvo privacy law in germany

Best regards and thanks in advance
    Lukas

    • Hello Lukas,
Let me answer your questions in order:
      1. Yes, you can automatically translate Divi content, products, posts towards any of the languages from this table.
      2. Yes, that languages are included in the automatic translation engine.
      3. If you want to have a different languages per domain, I’m afraid you will need to purchase them. However, you can also use a different URL structure as Different languages in directories which doesn’t require domains.
This is the structure we use in our own website.
      4. When you use the automatic translation, you are redirected to our ATE server where the automatic translation is done. Once the translation is done, it is loaded into your WordPress website.

      I hope it helps,
      Andrés

  10. Hi,

I’m new to pretty much all of this and not super technical, but somehow I’ve been managing my WP/Avada site for sometime now and running into a new situation that I could use help with.

I want to sell my main online course in three languages: the original one Dutch, a German and English version. I currently only have the Dutch and German version, and I use a geotargeting plugin to send the German customers to the German sales page. Plus that plugin let’s me decide, based on location, which pages are visible (because very little of my Dutch pages are relevant to this audience)
I think it’s more or less working. However, soon I will add a third translation, and English one. Having my website in three languages makes sense, with the language options displayed clearly on the site.

    – With WPML, can I also geotarget audiences based on IP, meaning, how can I direct people in certain regios land on the language version that I prefer? I guess my question is, is geotargeting and WPML a different thing, should I keep both plugins or does WPML ‘do it all’?

    – With WPML, can I also limit access to parts of my website per language? Again, A big part of my original Dutch website isn’t relevant for the German/English audiences. How can I make a stripped down version of that?

    • Hello,
thank you for your interest in WPML.
What is the plugin you use for managing your online courses? I’d like to check if it’s compatible with WPML. WPML is compatible with Avada but I guess you might be using some other plugin(s) for handling courses.
      1. WPML doesn’t have a redirection feature based on IP, we provide Automatic Redirect Based on Browser Language instead. When your site is translated to other languages, you will get organic traffic from Google to the pages in those languages and using redirections is not needed.
      2. When you select “Let me choose what to translate” mode, you can select the pages you want to translate (automatically or/and manually) and leave the other pages untranslated. WPML allows this.

  11. Hi Agnes,

Thanks for getting back to me, I appreciate it.
    Here’s my answers.

“Hello, thank you for your interest in WPML. What is the plugin you use for managing your online courses? I\’d like to check if it\’s compatible with WPML.

I’m using https://geotargetingwp.com/ to direct customers to the sales page in their language.

WPML is compatible with Avada but I guess you might be using some other plugin(s) for handling courses.

    1. WPML doesn\’t have a redirection feature based on IP, we provide Automatic Redirect Based on Browser Language instead. When your site is translated to other languages, you will get organic traffic from Google to the pages in those languages and using redirections is not needed.

Right. Good to know is that most of my traffic comes from Meta ads, not organic Google traffic. I want to be able to control what, say, a German customer sees. This is what the geotargeting app allows me to do. How would WPML work in that scenario, when directing customers from Meta ads?

    2. When you select \”Let me choose what to translate\” mode, you can select the pages you want to translate (automatically or/and manually) and leave the other pages untranslated. WPML allows this.”

OK, but I don’t just want to leave some pages untranslated; I want that German customer from the previous example to see a very reduced version of my website. I want to be able to hide pages from them like my books, that are not tranmslated into German, or the pages with my in person workshops, that are only in Dutch, etc. Does WPML allow that?

    Thanks for helping me navigate,

    • Hello,
WPML is compatible with the GeotargetingWP PRO plugin
      https://wpml.org/plugin/geotargetingwp-2/
This page will help you understand how this plugin works with WPML

I want to be able to hide pages from them like my books, that are not tranmslated into German, or the pages with my in person workshops, that are only in Dutch, etc. Does WPML allow that?

This is possible as well, but you will need to turn off the translation editor for such pages and translate these pages manually.
      This page will help
If you plan to use a dedicated plugin for your courses, you should check if it’s compatible with WPML.

  12. hi
May I ask you a few questions about my proposed multilingual woocommerce web shop?

    – will WPML generate a new separate record/product per language? If so that would mean a double of the amount of products
We have now ± 9000 product => per language another 9000.
    Is this correct?

    – related to the prev. question: what will happen if I decide to stop using wpml? Will all the wpml content be deleted incl. the translated version of pages and products?
Or do I have to clean up myself?
What is the workflow in the case we would like to go back to a single language website?

    – to what extend the doubling of the amount of products (if that is the case) has influence on the page loading speed ?

    thank you
    regards
    r

    • Hello Richard,
Let me answer your questions in order:
      1. Yes, that’s correct. WPML will create a new entry for every product or post translation.
      2. Regarding products, pages and posts translations, they should be manually deleted as they are stored in the “wp_posts” table. After that, you can reset WPML from its Troubleshooting section and it will delete the tables created by it.
      3. Having a large database may impact in your performance. However, we are constantly working in preventing and improving any related issue. Keeping that in mind and good server should be enough.

      I hope it helps,

  13. Hi. After installing the plugin, if I change the content of the original page, do the translated pages automatically get updated?

  14. Hi, I want to make sure I understand the pricing structure for the pay-as-you-go credit model.
Say in a month I used 11,000 credits. The cost would be €6.70 correct? the first 2,000 are free, then credits 2,001-10,000 would cost a total of €6.00 (8 * €.75) and credits 10,001-1,000 would cost €.70.

    Am I understanding the pricing?

    Thanks,
    Ben

    • When you use this calculator and you put 5500 words and set it to translate to one language, yes, you will get €6.70 EUR. Then, please click on the See the math and you will see the breakdown.
The math is not easy to explain because we use a special algorithm that uses the pricing that is explaing further down the page in the pricing table.
So you would need to put the number of words you want to translate in a specific month and see the final price.

  15. What is the case with using deepl api and yoast automatic translation? Is all the metadata translated? What about images in the library? Are names, alts translated? Is there any documentation I can consult?

    • Hello Jakub,
WPML connects to DeepL (via our internal API, you don’t need to do anything) to translate your WordPress content automatically with the DeepL engine. WPML is compatible with Yoast but you need to use our WPML SEO plugin before you start translating your pages automatically and this way the SEO meta tags will be translated too (you can edit the automatic translations later). You can read the details here.
Image alternative texts are being translated along with the page/post the image belongs to.

  16. Hi,

I have a presales question about the Multilingual CMS Plugin for a site running the Beaver Builder Theme and the Beaver Builder page builder.

We wish to be able to translate a few pages of our website using direct translation into French, Spanish etc – and we will provide the translation for these few pages but not for the whole web site.

Is it possible just to do a few pages in various languages and leave the rest in English or do we have to translate the whole website please ?

    Thank you for the help

    Best wishes,

    Stephen

    • Hello,
yes, WPML allows you to choose only some of the pages and leave the rest untranslated, no problem at all. Please select the “Let me Choose what to translate” mode (instead of Translate Everything Automatically). This mode allows you to choose what pages to translate (you can translate both automatically or manually or mix both methods). We are compatible with the Beaver Builder and this page will help to get you started.

  17. Hello, we are using native Bitácora theme. Can i use your plugin to translate the menu in the theme customizer function? There are no native menu’s in this theme.
    Thanks,

    • Hello,
yes, WPML can translate the menu, including the menu set up via the customizer. The Bitácora theme has not been tested by our Compatibility Team so we cannot tell if everything will work. If the theme is a standard WordPress theme, it should work fine. We have a 30-day refund policy in case you are not completely satisfied.

  18. Great, Which version do I need? And I asume that the links will change as wel to link to the right language (lang=de)?
