Are you asking whether the WPML plugin supports American English instead of British English? What you see in our language switcher (wpml.org) is indeed the British flag. This is the default option, and we use it because most of our clients are based in Europe. However, when it comes to automatic translation, American English will be applied. You can manually edit automatic translation.

my customer had a very old version of it’s website and is never been updated. I can see that WPML is installed on the site, but plugins are not updated. If I want manual translations and only the widget for changing the language and the menu’s. Do I need the CMS package or is the Blog enough?

The calculator from the second link shows results only for the Google Translation engine and works only for word counts of 1,500,000 or fewer. WPML has not been tested with the Enroute theme, so we cannot confirm its compatibility. From what I can see, this theme is designed for the WordPress.com platform. WPML is also a plugin for WordPress, but it is not available on WordPress.com by default, nor will you find it in the official WordPress repository (via Plugins > Add New).
To use WPML, you’ll need to purchase the WPML subscription (e.g. the Multilingual CMS package), then log in to your WPML account and download the installer plugin from the Downloads section. After that, go to Plugins > Add New in your WordPress dashboard, upload the installer plugin, and register your site. Once registered, you’ll be able to install and use WPML and its add-on plugins.
Please note that the Enroute theme uses Full Site Editing, so the Blog package will not be sufficient. You will need to purchase the CMS package.
WPML also allows you to add a language switcher with flags to your site, similar to the example you shared.

WPML creates a separate page for each language. It’s not a duplicate, it’s a translation. You can create such translation automatically or manually using WPML. If you use automatic translation, you can edit the translations manually too.
Regarding the AI component and its usage, could you please share the data usage policy or equivalent policy document, specifically regarding the handling of content submitted for translation (e.g., whether it is stored, used to train models, or shared with third parties)?

Migrating from TranslatePress to WPML is possiblel but not completely straightforward as would be with other plugins like Polylang. This is because of a fundamental architecture difference.
TranslatePress allows users to translate content directly on the front-end, storing translations locally. WPML works by scanning the site’s database to find translatable strings, storing translations as separate entities within the WordPress database.
For this reason, a migration should be considered as a new site translation effort and we do not offer any migration tool.

Any kind of menu translation will require the WPML CMS package. The String Translation module is required for translating the navigation lables. With WP Dynamic modules, there may be menu options that are only available through the String Translation logic.
Support is available for active WPML subscriptions. If you are a translator or someone who is working on a translation project and you are not the owner of the WPML license, then you can ask the owner to add you as an approved user. In this way, you can also access support.

Which one is reliable ?

If I have ONE wordpress installment but want to add 3 additional languages (eg. .com, .se. no) does that count as 1 website total or 4 websites?

I understand that each of your domain extensions (.com, .se, and .no) will be associated with a different language against the same WordPress install (e.d. database).
This implies that you will be using URL format of a separate “language per domain” as descried here: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/language-url-options/how-to-use-wpml-with-different-domains-per-language/
In this case, it will count as 1 website of your total allowed 12.
