Hi there,
I’m building a site using wordpress and X-theme (https://theme.co). In there I’ve already built de pages, blog posts and menu’s for two languages. But now I’m guessing I need a plugin tool like WPML, because I need an English menu for the English pages and vice-versa for the Dutch pages. Further more navigating thru the site should be in the language chosen by the visitor, and able to switch when ever they choose to.
Q1. Is WPML the right tool for my site? Or does it complicate the content (afraid I have to rebuild)
Q2. Is the Multilingual Blog version enough for my needs here? Looking at all the options in Multilingual CMS version I don’t think I need.
Most important for me is the menu versions in both languages and the navigation.
Q3. When my client decides later they want the options in Multilingual CMS version, is there a way to buy an upgrade,
or do you pay “double”?
Hello Soejon,
Q1. Yes, WPML is the right tool https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/xtheme/
Q2. You will need the CMS version to translate your site with X theme
Q3. Yes, you can always upgrade between versions for the difference only.
Thank you so much for the response! I wasn’t able to reply in the original thread. But I believe it has this id #comment-5751579
So the reason why I want to try your plugin is because we are looking to target some countries in Europe so we’re translating our website/website content in English. At the same time, I am launching a new and optimized website for which I am going to need a trial version of basically everything, because this website might take months before it goes live, and it doesn’t make sense for us to pay any subscription until we are ready to send traffic to the new site. But in order for this site to get build I need all the components in place.
So what I need at the moment is a version of the plugin where I can test the functionality and show my employers how it’s going to look and feel when using wpml in the future. Which would also help me make the case for why we should choose wpml when we can use other plugins. I know why, and you know why. I just need the decision makers to understand why. And trying your plugin (even a limited version of it) would help me move forward in my development process 🙂
Thank you Said.
I think I can prepare a test site for you but it would be ready in a few hours. Are you from Sweden? If so, I will set it up in English and Swedish. Please let me know.
Hi Agnes.
Thank you for your reply. By using the technique you described in the article with the XML config solution, that would simply place all the imported data into 1 language and not the other. I would still be left with one of the versions, in this case, probably English not having any data to display as it has been directly set to the other language as translated.
Is there no solution whereby multiple languages could be programmed to be translated in the following section of the XML config?
So translate=”0+1″ or similar, as you can tell I do not programme.
I have problem with your plugin purchase. I want to buy it to our company but your order form doesn’t accept our VAT number. We are from Czech Republic and we never face this problem before while purchasing goods from EU.
Yes the effect you describe is what I would like to achieve. I have since found a copy of WPML from another website I used it on and have a subscription to use. I have only installed this locally and I can confirm that using the xml method did import the animals into Spanish, however completely left out English. Therefore the English page which normally displays animals thumbnails was completely blank yet as the animals were imported into the Spanish version, that page displayed the animal thumbnails. This was following the instructions from your previous post however I did not need to use a hyperthetical situation, I used the actual plugin but it still didn´t work.
So the fact that the Polish, German, English example you sent works with the fallback option on that website doesn´t matter as with my site it effects the content in such a way it does not display in the first place so using the language switcher makes no difference.
Hello Seth,
if you are our client with a WPML subscription please open a ticket on our forum thread and one of our supporters will check why it is not working on your site. Here in the “pre-sales questions” section my possibilities to provide technical help are limited. Thank you.
Marek, two questions:
1. Do you select Czech Republic on your checkout page?
2. Do you have JavaScript enabled in your browser?
Problem is we cannot reproduce your issue – when are trying to finish the checkout with your VAT number we don’t see any issues.
Hello Kathy,
WPML is a WordPress plugin that translates the content of your WordPress site and does it on your site. These can be regular pages, posts, categories etc but also stuff coming from themes and plugins. For example forms coming from popular form plugins. Are you asking about content coming from a specific WordPress plugin? If so, what is its name?
To answer your question, I would need to understand:
1. What is the WordPress content you need to translate (pages? posts? any special posts based on the so-called custom post types? forms? if forms, what WordPress plugin you use)?
2. Are you interested in a solution that would allow you to prepare CSV files outside WordPress and these files would include translations too and then you would like to use import these files into your WordPress site to have the content covered in #1 available in different languages?
Hi,
I have purchased the theme Allogio for my hotel at theme forest. Then a developer transferred all my content from my old site.
WPML plugin was installed (either by the developer or was perhaps included in the theme?)
I’ve been having some issues with the WPML which I don’t know hot to fix. For example in my front page the Greek content always appears, no matter what. In WPML I get the message “WPML tried to translate this page three times and failed. To get it fixed, contact WPML support”…
Then another page, when I try to edit the English translation (even though there is a page with the English version) I am being transferred to a page to start creating the translation!
Am I entitled to support? How do I login? Also, if not, can I purchase support so that I finally get it fixed?
Thank you in advance for your answer.
Hello,
WPML plugins are not included in themes so it must have been that developer you mention who installed WPML.
Our technical supporters can provide your help but you need to have an active WPML subscription to open a ticket on our support forum. So you would need to buy WPML first.
How many WPML plugins does your site use? Please go to plugins and check if you can see only one WPML plugin installed (WPML Multilingual CMS) or more (for example WPML String Translation). If you see more than one WPML plugin you need to buy the Multilingual CMS package. If you see only one plugin, maybe the Multilingual Blog package would suffice. What is your version of WPML? If you go to WPML (left-hand sidebar) what is the first option you see? Languages or Translation Management? If Languages, the buying the Blog package should be enough.
After buying WPM, please log into your WPML account and then go to our forum and open a ticket. Describe your problem. You can also provide access to your site. One of our supporters will help you to fix your issues.
Hi, My question is about licence and use….
We have this site (in magento ,with the current project of migration to woocommerce) Where each language – 5 – instead of being assigned by a switcher and a subdirectory, are called with 5 different domains….like englishsite.com spanishsite.es and so on….
Ok, so the questions are:
1. Can wpml handle this? I mean it’s not a multi site… just one site install 5 languages responding to different domains…
2. since the option to use woocommerce says 3 production sites… how does that count , since it really one site but 5 domains?
Hi,
A key determining factor for us is how the languages control the customer’s location. We would like the customer to be able to control their billing/shipping address from the WCML widget. For example, if the customer was from the Netherlands, they could choose NL billing address and NL language to show Euros and Dutch translations, or they could choose NL billing address and ENG language to show Euros and English translations.
I look forward to hearing from you

i cant download Azerbaijani languge.
and i cant find signup in your site
pls answer me
i want translate my site to english
but i cant find and download azerbaijanian languge
thanks
Hello,
to be able to use WPML plugins you need to buy one of the packages we offer: https://wpml.org/purchase/
Then, you will be able to log into your WPML account.
If you are interested in translating your site to Azerbaijani using automatic translation you need the “Multilingual CMS” package. Here you can see supported languages for automatic translation: https://ate.wpml.org/mt_langs As you can see, Azerbaijani is supported by Google Translate which is the default engine in WPML.
After installing WPML you will see a wizard where you need to choose the languages of your site. Select Azerbaijani and assign translation credits to your site. THen you will be able to translate your site to this language.
Hello,
we can see in your order history that you have 4 orders in the “pending” status. If you order is pending it means that we didn’t charge you any money yet. You need to log in to your WPML account and you will find a button to pay for it. Please go to your Payment history and invoices page and you will find the invoice there. Click View order and you will find the button to pay and proceed to checkout. If you need to request a new password you can do it here https://wpml.org/account/lost-my-password/
You can pay with a credit card. On the “checkout” page you will see a link entitled “Use a different payment processor” (at the bottom of the page, under the orange button). Please click on it.
Good afternoon,
we would like to purchase ‘Multilingual CMS’ for 99 EUR and we would like to know if it’s possible to pay the subscription by banking transfer please, or is it mandatory to pay by credit card?
thank you,
Hello Christiane,
I am afraid we don’t accept wire transfers, but you can pay with your debit/credit card directly by selecting Alternative payment processor at checkout.
I am developing a site in which I intend to use Hotel Booking Plugin with WPLM, it is currently being developed with a temporary url, is it possible to change the final url later?
Hello Mohamed,
The renewal fee is required to keep updates and support. If you don’t pay for it, the translated content will remain on your site but you will lose updates and support.
I don’t understand, the automatic translator has a cost per word? can I translate directly through the interface or should I pay for the automatic one? If I move my site to another url is it possible or does the plugin stop working?
Good morning
After purchasing the plug-in and receiving the invoice, our accounting department needs your Certificate of Fiscal Residence (CFR). Could you send us that certificate ?
Thank you.
Hello Cristiano,
I see you have an expired CMS subsription, purchased on our previous pricing. This doesn’t include any translation credits.
Can you let me know what you mean with “I still have a lot of translation credits”?
You can buy a new subscription to receive updates and support again.

Please see my settings:

https://wpml.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/posts.png
and now visit this page:
https://translation-reviewers.otgs.work/krzysztof/how-to-study-effectively/
Use the language switcher to change the languages.
Since the post is translated to Polish you can see it translated.
But the post is not translated to German and Spanish but users browsing the site in these languages can still see it but in English.
Is this the effect you want to achieve?

Hi Agnes,
Sounds great! Thank you so much!
Yes, Swedish is the main language, and English is the translation we need for now 🙂

Thank you. I will keep you posted.
I have sent you a private email with credentials to my test site.

Hi there,
Do your services translate .csv files from forms such as Survey Monkey? What service would I need to purchase to do this?

These can be regular pages, posts, categories etc but also stuff coming from themes and plugins. For example forms coming from popular form plugins. Hello Fernando,
Thank you for your interest in WPML.
1. Yes, WPML can handle this but some extra setup on your server might be required as explained in detail on this page:
https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/language-url-options/how-to-use-wpml-with-different-domains-per-language/
2. In this case, you need to install WPML only on one site so you will need to use only one registration key, which counts as one production site.

the geolocation based on the billing address works only for logged in users:
