  1. Hi,
I wonder if I have a license on wpml that I used on a particular website and someone else will take over it, can they buy their own license and then enable it without any content disappearing or being destroyed?

    Kind Regards
    Susanne

    • Hi Susanne,
by purchasing a WPML subscription you get access to your WPML account from where you can download WPML plugins (current and future versions). An active WPML subscription allows you to ask technical question in our support forum. A WPML subscription allows you to take these plugin and install on any site, for any of your customers so they can use it as well. What your customers cannot do is: 1. posting question in our support forum 2. update WPML plugin directly from their WordPress once your WPML subscription becomes inactive (has expired). But the plugins remain in their sites.

As long as your WPML subscription is active and your customers sites are registered in your WPML account, your customers don’t need their own superstitions (unless they would like to ask question in our support forum).

But if your subscription expires, they won’t be able to update WPML plugin to new releases. The plugins you installed will continue working. Of course we cannot anticipate what happens if they update WordPress in the future and won’t update WPML plugins.

      I hope it helps.

    • Hello, thanks for your interest in WPML. We don’t have a free demo but our refund policy allows you to test WPML for 30 days without any risk. During that probation period you can even ask technical questions in our support forum. If you are not completely satisfied just fill out this form and we will give your money back.

  2. We have just installed this plugin and now we cannot login to our wordpress account!!!!!! Please can you advise what has happened here? This is NOT a good start at all!!

    • Hello Andrew. Have you opened a ticket in our support forum? If you haven’t, please do. Please note that if you rename any plugin on your server (please connect using ftp) WordPress will deactivate it automatically. If it is WPML that causing you issues, please consider using this trick by the time you get reply from our supporters.

    • Hi Andrew, we didn’t delete your comments. They were waiting for moderation. Here you can ask pre-sales questions. Please use our support forum for raising technical issues with our plugins. If your site is still down because of WPML please temporary rename the plugin folder on your server so it will be deactivated automatically by WordPress.

    • you keep telling me to go to the support forum but there i need an account to login – how can i get an account? There isn’t any obvious “open account” or “register” links anywhere?

            • we installed it through the plugin section on our wordpress site – you really need to sort this out as it’s a major flaw. Obviously the reason it crashed our site is because we hadn’t bought it, but anyone can go to the plugin section and find plugins to install and thats exactly what i did – usually you can pay for it once its installed!!

              • Hi Andrew.
“but anyone can go to the plugin section and find plugins to install”. WPML is a commercial plugin so someone must have bought it and installed it in your site. Only WPML customers can access our support forum.

                • You are not listening to what I am saying.

We went to the wordpress plugins library, searched for your plugin, found it and then clicked “install”!! Then it crashed our website and locked us out! You need to have it removed from the wordpress plugin library if you do not want to inconvenience other potential customers like you did me! You DO NOT need to have bought it to carry out the steps I have just described!

Most commercial plugins allow you to do the above without crashing your website!!!

                • Hi Andrew. How can that be possible? You won’t find the WPML plugin in the WordPress plugin repository. Could you please send me a link or a screenshot how you managed to find WPML in WordPress library and installed it?

  3. Do you have to buy the plugin before it will work? Is this why it crashed our website when we downloaded it via the plugin section on wordpress? Please advise.

  4. Hello,

what about languages not listet. Can I add an “own” language like a “regional dialect”? Translation and language flag?

    • Using a CSV file and an import plugin. Would that option interest you? If so, let me know and I’ll elaborate on that topic.

  5. Hi,

I’ve used a wrong email when purchasing the plugin. I tried to recover my password through my paypal email as stated in the support, but it doesn’t work. Could you please help me get my account and the plugin? I’ve sent you the private details on Facebook.
    Thanks.

    Regards

    • Hello Anas,
I see the mail with a typo came back rejected. I will resend it now to your e-mail address. Please log in to your account and edit the address in Settings so that you don’t miss other important notifications from us.

  6. Hi – today we have a multisite enabled Woocommerce/woomultistore installation to handle different languages and currencies, but your solution appears to be a better fit for us.

Are you compatible with the Woomultistore plugin?
Also, are you compatible with the YITH Affiliates plugin?

    Best regards
    Federico

  7. Hi,
I would like to purchase WPML plugin for my wordpress website.
I just want to know which version should I buy. I am considering Blog vs. CMS version.
My setup is WordPress with Avada theme and Envira Gallery. I would like to have also photos and tags in 3 different languages. Is for this purpose Blog version enough? Do I need features in CMS version?
    thank you
    Erik

  8. Hello,

I am interested in wpml, but I would like to know:

For my multilingual (more multi country) website I need mostly not translations, but more that for one country would be shown for example A, B and X woocommerce products, and for other country other products, like B and C. Is that possible and if yes what plan do I need for this feature. Thank you.

    • Hello Dahlia,
WPML cannot detect a visitor’s country but what you could do instead: if you don’t want to translate your products but show diffrent products for diffrent countries you could configure these languages using WPML anyway and use the “duplicate” option for some of your products to make these product appear in that language. For these that you don’t want to show for a specific country, you simple do nothing. This way, only the duplicated products would appear in your archive pages (such as Shop page) for a given language. But if you don’t translate your products the main disadvantage is that your site won’t attract organic traffic (from search engines, such as Google) from visitors coming from a specific country. To make that happen products would need to be translated.

    • Hello,
this theme wasn’t tested by our Compatibility Team so you might have some issues. Even if a theme isn’t fully compatible with a WPML, you should be able to translate posts, pages, menus and other basic elements of your site but since this is a directory theme (which is a more challenging one) I really can’t tell if you will be able to translate the directory items without issues. If you want, you can test it yourself – our refund policy allows you to test WPML for 30 days.

  9. Setting this up for a client site. We are using Avada with Woocommerce. I assume we need to purchase WPML CMS, but is there anything else we need to buy? I see you also need to install translations, and some other things. Are they free once you buy the CMS version or for additional purchase?

    • Hi Jeanette, that’s correct, if you want to use WPML with the Avada theme, you need the to purchase WPML CMS. Please note that WPML doesn’t translate your content automatically. If you need professional translation services, please check the list of our partners: https://wpml.org/translation-service/

  10. We are developing a site and needing be able to translate only some pages only to Spanish. We are wanting this to translate only our Members Section and we are using ARMembers plug in. Is this possible. The rest of the site was created in Spanish already.

Please advise if you plug in is compatible with ARMembers as well as we can translate to Spanish only specific pages.

    Thank you.
    Bill

    • Yes, you can translate only certain pages, if needed. WPML allows you to do that. But unfortunately WPML was never checked for compatibility with the ARMembers plugin so you might have issues to translate items coming from this plugin. If you want, you can test it yourself – our refund policy allows you to test WPML for 30 days.

  11. If I buy the Multilingual CMS and want after a 4 months switch to the Multilingual CMS Lifetime, do I have to pay the full amount ($ 195), or just the difference?

    Thanks…

    • Just the difference. But please note that this is how it works now. We are going to change our pricing model in the near future but we will notify our customers in advance.

  12. Hi, I’ve published a website that is partially in French and partially in English. In order to have all French and all English versions of my site; do I need to change the site all into one language (for example, English) before installing and running WPML? If so, can I write the site in English but have it show up as default in French for first time visitors?

    • Hi Mike, after installing WPML, all the posts you already have in your site will be automatically assigned to the primary language but you can change the language of some of them later, no problem. That being said, you don’t need to change the site into one language before installing WPML, you can change the language of individual posts/pages later.

  13. Hi

We are thinking to use this plug in on our 3 web sites with the Life Time plan. But we may need some help. 3 web sites are rich in content and in visitor numbers.

1 – We have been using q translate x for 4 years. Can we get professional help from WPML techs to migrate to this plugin. we can not

2 – Our themes are from themeforest and developer is TagDiv. It seems Tagdiv themse are supported which also announced by Tagdiv devs. But there is visual bakery composer plugin comes with the theme and we are not sure if it’s supported by wpml or not.

    Thanks

      • Hi Agnes

We don’t want to pay 195 to something we can’t use. Is there a trial version we can check on our sites?

Or Should I send you a list of plugins we use and you can check with your compatibility team? They can’t give guarantee for future but at least they can say that the plugin can work or can not.

I don’t trust so much on contractors, since they have ruined our business 2 times and it was left us to save everything. But thank you.

        • “We don’t want to pay 195 to something we can’t use.” Of course, that’s why we have the refund policy. You will have 30 days to test WPML in your own environment in your own configuration. Please note that during that probation period you can even ask questions in our support forum. Our Compatibility folks are checking if the theme is compatible with WPML. I will update you soon.

          • Hello Agnes

It’s good to know that you have refund policy.

So to make it easier for beginning, we will be buying the very basic one and try to implement it on our system. If it works well, we will go ahead buy the life time option.

1- Upgrading from basic to life time do we pay full payment? Minus basic price?
2- Upgrading from basic to life time will have any effect on the plugin settings?
3- Is there any possible work around tips(link) for us to follow?

            Thanks

            • 1. Yes, you pay the difference (if you upgrade from Blog to CMS, or from CMS to Lifetime or from Blog to Lifetime) – see my note below
              2. No, since the CMS and Lifetime package includes the same main WPML plugin. What you get in the CMS/Lifetime package are additional plugins.
              3. https://wpml.org/documentation/plugins-compatibility/visual-composer/

Please note that if you want to use WPML with the Visual Composer the basic (Blog) subscription won’t suffice.

    • By “visual bakery composer ” you mean the Visual Composer page builder? If so, our Compatibility folks confirm it works with WPML.

  14. Hello,
    My website is http://www.fda-ttb-usa.com
The password to access it is Marva.
In this website there is form in English. I would like to know if wpml I can keep the form intact but change the language with a click on a button. And, anyone has the time to create it for me when I buy the license?

  15. Hi,
I am creating a multilingual News Paper Website using some themes available online.

I want to type the content in English and automatically convert it into another landguage just like google translator.

If the converted sentenses have some errors then, I should be able to edit it.

Also, I don’t want to load the website always in English.
I need to open the website in the new converted language (may be I can use a sub domain).

If I choose this plug in, will I be able to do all these?

Will this plug in automatically convert to the new language/will I have to sit and write everything in the new language?
Will I be able to specify the URL for each language under the same domain?
    Thanks,
    Paul

    • Hi Paul,

I want to type the content in English and automatically convert it into another landguage just like google translator.

I’m sorry WPML won’t help here. It doesn’t translate your content automatically.

  16. Hello. I want to migrate a bilingual website to WordPress. I don’t want to migrate the content by hand, I want to develop a plugin to do the work.

WPML have a API to add posts and its translation from a plugin? Some type of API? There documentation of how to use WPML for plugin development?

    Thanks!

    • What you create with WPML are regular posts/pages, just for each of them you tell WPML what’s its language. There are tools and plugins out there which can help you to migrate your posts. I don’t know how many posts you have. If not many, you can set the language manually and tell WPML which post is a translations of which one. If you have many posts you can consider using the WPML All Import plugin.
