Hello,
If you pay for automatic translation, is this one-time payment?
I find it a bit confusing what are the recurring costs, but I would assume it’s only the cost of the WPML plug-in itself that you need to pay every year? Translation that has been paid once is not charged again? I know the question might sound redundant, but I need to do a precise budgeting for it, and I thought better to make sure.

In the previous answer you advised to pass the license to the client. Good. That’s a good solution. But what if I have him purchase translation credits on a pay-as-you-go basis? In the purchase form I can put my name, company details and VAT number. I put my client’s and have him pay independently with his credit card. Does this create billing problems?

Everyone can sign up for pay-as-you-go credits (PAYG). Using PAYG This doesn’t require having a WPML subscription and is handled directly from within your WordPress site: WPML > Translation Management > Tools. This video shows the details. When you use the PAYG sign up form you can provide the data of the person sining up and their payment card. This is completely independent from the WPML account owner/user. In practice this means you can use a diffrent card and data for your WPML renewals and for your PAYG. Hope this helps.
Hi there – a website I am helping to build is using WPML to have the website available in 8 different languages. Right now when a user is on a page within the website in one language and uses the dropdown language feature to select a different language, the website makes user start back at the homepage before proceeding through the website in the rest of that language instead of keeping user on that specific page within the website and just changing the language. Is this a possibility of WPML to keep users on the same page and let them change between languages?

Great, thank you. I didn’t understand who issues the invoice. In italy, we have strict rules about corporate payments: My client can pay himself payroll credits but he needs to have a legal acknowledgement document. Since he is not registered with WPML, how will he be able to get it?

I once bought your plugin but I gave up on it. Over time, however, I noticed that the plugin is not completely uninstalled from my site because the site still automatically downloads many translation files for many languages that I no longer use, and I also see many places (in the database and on ftp) where there are still references to wpml. I suspect that I did not uninstall your plugin correctly. What are the ways to completely uninstall wpml from the site (I would like to point out that I do not currently have your plugin purchased)?

If you still have a copy of the plugin available, you can start by reseting WPML from the troubleshooting options. However, if it is not the case but you still see traces in your database, you can start by looking and deleting tables prefixed with _icl. Then, look for entries containing wpml, sitepress and _icl keys.
For translation files, you can manually delete those fields associated to languages that you no longer use with a FTP.
We strongly recommend you to make a full database of your website before this procedure.
I haven’t had the plugin for a long time but I would prefer to clear the data through the plugin. If I no longer have a subscription and no longer have the plugin, is there any other way to clear the data other than manually clearing it?
Dose WPML support users use their own Open AI API or DeepL API Key ? my sites has 1300 articles and 29 languages , which make the translate fee up to $10000 if we use your autotransate services

No, WPML doesn’t support users use their own Open AI API or DeepL API Keys. Indeed, translating 1300 articles to 29 languages will consume a lot of translation credits and your cost estimate seems to be correct. Hi there, I need to create a Canadian version of a website in US English & Canadian French. If I manually translate into Canadian French do I just load that as a page and then link as per your information here https://wpml.org/faq/how-to-link-already-translated-pages/
Also for say a website in six language versions do I need to use WordPress Multi-Site or is it just handled by your plugin creating language versions of the pages and different urls for each translation?
Where is the translation information stored and is it manually editable?

Let me try to answer your questions in order:
– You only need to manually link translations and original when you translate/create your content independently. It means, when you create pages in English and some others in French directly using WordPress. However, even if you manually translate your pages with WPML from English to French, WPML will automatically link them as original and translation.
– No, you don’t need a multi-site for translating your website. You can use a single installation to translate towards 2, 6 or as many languages as you need.
– Translation information is stored in the database. However, you can always modify your posts/pages in order to update your translations without needing to edit your database.

If WPML is still installed on the site, you can start paying for the renewals directly and have a new account created from the backend of the site.
This is an end-user account which will allow you to receive updates for this site only and you will not be able to register any other sites.

If I had generate my pages in both languages, then I can change for example the pictures or something else. When I have changed a new text on my original page, how can I realize that I get an alert that on the translating pages is something missing or changed for example. Is there a monitoring possibility? Or is the translation only for the first time and then I have to edit source page and translated page?
To answer your question directly, the second image on the page shows a “circular arrow” icon in the far right column which indicates that a change in the original language content was detected and an update to the translation is required.
Other icons will show if a translation job is in progress and/or if the translations are in synch and complete.

We are looking for a solution to translate our page in multiple languages. Your plugin looks good, but I have some questions:
1. We use the theme Beaver Builder, which isn’t listed on your supported themes. Although I see a showcase site using it fine. What are the risks of using a non-supported theme with your plugin?
2. As I understand it, a translated page creates a new copied and unique page, that is grouped in WordPress. If we need to update the content of a page (for example add new sections, new text, etc.), will it automatically apply any changes to all the translated pages as well?
3. For certain languages, we will need to have the pages differ a bit, for example, changing the linked WooCommerce product for specific product pages. Can we make these individual changes for specific languages? If the answer to question 2 above is yes, then how will we differ between automatic updates between the pages in different languages, and unique page content specified for certain languages?
4. If we need to make a specific page available in for example French, but not for Norwegian, is this possible?
5. From my understanding, any translated page will also appear in Google results when searched for in the different languages, correct?

2. Yes, that’s correct, a translated page creates a new copied and unique page.
Regarding updates.
Yes, WPML will synchronize the translations provided you use the WPML Translation Editor (and you didn’t switch to the WordPress editor which is also possible)
It will happen fully automatically (without you having to click anywhere) if you use the so-called Translate Everything mode. If you use the “Let me choose what to translate” mode, you will need to click on the update icons for those pages to trigger the retranslation.
3. WPML allows you to have different layouts for translations (for specific or all pages) but for this to happen you have to switch to the WordPress editor. This means, that after you do so, you can no longer use automatic translation on such pages. This is explained in detailed here: https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/using-different-translation-editors-for-different-pages/ and these pages will be no longer in synch (they need to be maintained separately, as opposed to what you needed in #2)
4. Yes, this is possible. You have to use the admin language switcher to switch to French and create the page in French without adding its equivalent in the original language.
5. Yes, that’s correct and that’s the main reason why it’s worth to use WPML.

No, WPML doesn’t support users use their own Open AI API or DeepL API Keys. Indeed, translating 1300 articles to 29 languages will consume a lot of translation credits and your cost estimate seems to be correct. Hi there, I need to create a Canadian version of a website in US English & Canadian French. If I manually translate into Canadian French do I just load that as a page and then link as per your information here https://wpml.org/faq/how-to-link-already-translated-pages/
Also for say a website in six language versions do I need to use WordPress Multi-Site or is it just handled by your plugin creating language versions of the pages and different urls for each translation?
Where is the translation information stored and is it manually editable?
It would be useful to have these answers so that we can plan before we purchase the WPML plugin.

Let me try to answer your questions in order:
– You only need to manually link translations and original when you translate/create your content independently. It means, when you create pages in English and some others in French directly using WordPress. However, even if you manually translate your pages with WPML from English to French, WPML will automatically link them as original and translation.
– No, you don’t need a multi-site for translating your website. You can use a single installation to translate towards 2, 6 or as many languages as you need.
– Translation information is stored in the database. However, you can always modify your posts/pages in order to update your translations without needing to edit your database.

I have a website which has been using WPML for years now but the plugin license expired recently, The client does not have the old account login details now. How do I renew the plugin?
Can I use a different login/account for renewing it? If I do so will all the existing data be lost from the website?

If WPML is still installed on the site, you can start paying for the renewals directly and have a new account created from the backend of the site.
This is an end-user account which will allow you to receive updates for this site only and you will not be able to register any other sites.

– Er zijn geen limieten voor het aantal keren dat u een enkele/dezelfde pagina vertaalt, maar het kan zijn dat u eerst de vertaalde inhoud moet verwijderen als u de vorige vertaling wilt OVERSCHRIJVEN.
– Je kunt zoveel bloggers definiëren als je wilt, aangezien dit gewoon WordPress-gebruikers zijn.
– U kunt automatische vertaling configureren voor toegevoegde inhoud naar elke doeltaal die u hebt geïnstalleerd/geactiveerd.
Als deze informatie uw vraag niet beantwoordt, schrijf dan een specifiek gebruiksvoorbeeld zodat ik uw situatie beter kan begrijpen.
If I had generate my pages in both languages, then I can change for example the pictures or something else. When I have changed a new text on my original page, how can I realize that I get an alert that on the translating pages is something missing or changed for example. Is there a monitoring possibility? Or is the translation only for the first time and then I have to edit source page and translated page?

WPML actively assists to keep translations in synch via the Translation Management Dashboard.

To answer your question directly, the second image on the page shows a “circular arrow” icon in the far right column which indicates that a change in the original language content was detected and an update to the translation is required.
Other icons will show if a translation job is in progress and/or if the translations are in synch and complete.

At the moment, we only support the following four translation engines
– WPML AI
– DeepL (default)
– Google Translate
– Microsoft Translator

We are looking for a solution to translate our page in multiple languages. Your plugin looks good, but I have some questions:
1. We use the theme Beaver Builder, which isn’t listed on your supported themes. Although I see a showcase site using it fine. What are the risks of using a non-supported theme with your plugin?
2. As I understand it, a translated page creates a new copied and unique page, that is grouped in WordPress. If we need to update the content of a page (for example add new sections, new text, etc.), will it automatically apply any changes to all the translated pages as well?
3. For certain languages, we will need to have the pages differ a bit, for example, changing the linked WooCommerce product for specific product pages. Can we make these individual changes for specific languages? If the answer to question 2 above is yes, then how will we differ between automatic updates between the pages in different languages, and unique page content specified for certain languages?
4. If we need to make a specific page available in for example French, but not for Norwegian, is this possible?
5. From my understanding, any translated page will also appear in Google results when searched for in the different languages, correct?
I hope this wasn’t confusing, please let me know if you need me to clarify.

2. Yes, that’s correct, a translated page creates a new copied and unique page.
Regarding updates.
Yes, WPML will synchronize the translations provided you use the WPML Translation Editor (and you didn’t switch to the WordPress editor which is also possible)
It will happen fully automatically (without you having to click anywhere) if you use the so-called Translate Everything mode. If you use the “Let me choose what to translate” mode, you will need to click on the update icons for those pages to trigger the retranslation.
3. WPML allows you to have different layouts for translations (for specific or all pages) but for this to happen you have to switch to the WordPress editor. This means, that after you do so, you can no longer use automatic translation on such pages. This is explained in detailed here: https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/using-different-translation-editors-for-different-pages/ and these pages will be no longer in synch (they need to be maintained separately, as opposed to what you needed in #2)
4. Yes, this is possible. You have to use the admin language switcher to switch to French and create the page in French without adding its equivalent in the original language.
5. Yes, that’s correct and that’s the main reason why it’s worth to use WPML.
