I need a plugin that translates from English to Afrikaans. I see from some posts that Afrikaans needs to be added manually. I am trying to understand how that would work. Does that mean I add the translated text? I need a plugin that does it automatically please. I don’t have time to translate it myself.
Hello,
yes, adding translation manually is the WPML’s default but if you use our Advanced Translation Editor (ATE) editor, you can use machine translation. Please note that new sites that start using WPML’s Advanced Translation Editor receive a free quota of 2000 words. This is roughly 5 pages with a medium amount of content. If you want to get more machine translation (which we pay for), you can buy tiny, medium or large chunks of quota. You will see the pricing here: https://wpml.org/2018/12/machine-translation-quotas-for-wpmls-advanced-translation-editor/
Hello, thank you for your interest in WPML. No, it’s not possible but our refund policy allows you to test WPML without any risk for 30 days and asking technical questions in our support during that trial. https://wpml.org/purchase/refunds-policy/
In wordpress admin, it offers a lifetime option for $195 but this option is not available on your website. Could i please get some information on this.
Hello Michael,
Thanks for writing about this. The lifetime offer is no longer available. Let me contact you about this via e-mail. I would like to ask you for a screenshot of it.
But I dont want to redirect to a different page – I just want to show text/grsvity form on the existing page without url parameters. And just use the browser language instead.
What the WPML feature does, yes, it will redirect you to a different page, which is the same page the user is visiting but in the user’s language. This is what we have and how it works. If you need something different, you will need to apply some custom solutions.
I have searched your forum and done some Googling but have not been able to find an answer to my questions. I’m hoping you can answer them here.
1. Am I able to create pages or posts that only exist in foreign languages. For example, my site’s default language will be English, but I will also have German and Spanish. Can I have pages that only exist in German or Spanish that do not have English versions?
2. What is the default behavior for querying posts when a foreign language has been selected? Will the default query automatically only show posts from the current active language, or will it show English posts if there is not a version available in the selected language?
2. The default behaviour is to display only the posts that exist in the selected language. It is possible to set up what we call “fallback-mode” that displays the original post if a translation does not exist. Please note that the fallback only happens towards the default language (English in this case).
Hi, this website had an account of WPML in the past but the web designers that made it doesn´t work anymore. So is impossible to upload and pay the plugins again, so for that reason is giving some problems in multilingual pages. If I create another account and upload the new version of the plugins, do you think I´ll keep the site as it is or I´ll have any kind of issue?
Hello Angel,
If you register WPML through the new account nothing of what you have done will be affected. The subscription key is used and required to receive the updates.
Let me know of any other question.
i have few questions. can i create a custom language folder. So in india you have multiple languages and one of them is hinglish. Its not offcial anywhere. So can i create a folder for this language and publish content under it?
Hello I want to ask when the new version of the plug-in will come out with the general changes when translating a website. I’m asking because I’m starting to create a new website and do not want to install the old version and then renew it with the new
Hello Nikolay,
Thanks for asking. Our last version was released on June 11th. I am not sure of what you mean exactly with “general changes when translating a website”. I suggest you ask your question in the release announcement https://wpml.org/2019/06/wpml-4-2-7-and-a-preview-for-next-major-updates/ so that you receive a more proper reply.
hi thank you for the quick answer. I mean the next release
Plans for the Next Weeks and Months
We’re working on major changes to WPML, which we hope will make it easier to run multilingual sites and make those sites a lot faster. See what’s planned and give us your feedback, so that we know that we’re building what you need.
Zero-Load String Translation (planned for mid July 2019)
We’re changing the way String Translation works so that it will stop hooking to GetText functions. The idea is to compile the translations into .mo files instead of loading translations from the database.
It looks like this change will reduce the database and CPU load of WPML String Translation to about zero.
We are progressing nicely with String Translation performance but after doing some real testing we found out an issue that we need to handle first. Our plans are releasing this in mid-august but I can’t guarantee that we won’t find any more issues before that date, so please don’t take it literally.
so my last question is if I’m starting to build a new website with your plugging it’s better for me to wait for the new release or I can to do it now and after that update the plug-in and it will be without any problems
If i do not renew the subscription this years, will it effect the sites i have already built previously ? The previously built site includes e-commerce website and the translation was entered by me manually.
I can see in our records that the purchase process wasn’t fully completed.
Please try restarting the purchase process from the start: https://wpml.org/purchase/
Could you please outline what the possibilities and limitations of WPML are for the following questions:
Question 1: On behalf of the person browsing my site, can the plugin set the language according to the cookie (set from the http-header)?
Question 2: Can the user manually select languages of choice from the top or bottom of each page? Can the selected language be stored in a cookie to remember selection preference?
Question 3: Can any page and post be created in a new language?
Question 4: Is there an autotranslate option (Google Translate?) for pages and posts that are not manually translated?
Thank you, I hope you can define the possibilities and limitations as soon as possible.
Templates are not translated as a whole. Templates display 2 types of content:
1) Content from the database (like posts and pages) where WPML handles fetching content in the correct language.
2) Strings in the theme, which need to use GetText functions for WPML String Translation to pick them up and allow you to translate.
Hi, Is it possible to have unlimited automatic machine translation for all language pairs? 2000 words per website and language pair is not much.
Does your plugin work well with the Avada Theme and Fusion builder to translate conten?
Thanks
Hi all.
I’m trying to buy WPML for my company but in the buy form the VAT field is too short for our VAT number.
You can solve in any way?
Thanks,
Alex.
Could you please send us your VAT number using this form? https://wpml.org/home/contact-us/contact-form/
We will check it.
Thanks a lot.
I’ve resolved this issue buying the plugin from italian version of the website.
Bye.

I was told that you offer a free subscription for non-profit organizations. Is that true? If so, how do I go about it?
Hello Gabriele,
No, we no longer have this offer. We used to have it a few years ago. But thanks for checking.
Does this plugin work with wpbakery visual composer?
Hello David,
Yes, it does https://wpml.org/documentation/plugins-compatibility/how-to-build-multilingual-sites-with-wpbakery-page-builder-and-wpml/

Can I set WPML to detect the users browser language?
I dont see an option for it – but someone else told me it was possible in WPML thanks
Hello! Yes, you can do it following this article https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/automatic-redirect-based-on-browser-language/

Hello,
I am using the Divi theme. My website has about 10 pages (build with the Divi builder) and about 5 blog posts.
Will the license “Multilingual Blog” work, or do I need “Multilingual CMS”?
Cheers!
Karsten
Hello Karsten,
To translate Divi you will need the CMS version https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/divi-builder/
Kind regards,
Hi there,
I also use Divi and already purchased the blog version…
So guessing this will not work? Any way I can just pay for the difference?
Regards,
JP
Yes, you can log in to your account and upgrade to CMS for the difference.
Best,
Hello Mercedes,
thank you very much!
Cheers!

1) We have a setting to enable automatic redirection based on browser language:
https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/automatic-redirect-based-on-browser-language/
2) We don’t use cookies to store the current language. The current language is determined by the URL.
In other words, if you bookmark a page in a certain language, it will always be loaded in that language.
3) Yes
4) Yes, in the CMS package:
https://wpml.org/faq/does-wpml-support-machine-translation/
Hello, I am working on E commerce website, so can I use your Multilingual Blog package of 29$.
Will this package translates E commerce products?
To fully translate a WooCommerce page you need the CMS package:

There are several word packages available, take a look:
https://wpml.org/2018/12/machine-translation-quotas-for-wpmls-advanced-translation-editor/
Yes, Avada and Fusion builder are supported (CMS package required)
https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/using-wpml-with-the-avada-theme/
We have a page that we do not want to be translated. Will the plugin allow me to exclude a page?
You don’t have to translate everything, only what you want.
